Druid in the Marvel Universe Chapter 153: Too Tragic!

6 min 59.3K views

The chick in the suit was sprinting like her life depended on it. Just as she was about to bolt through the alley, this gnarly blood-red vine shot out from a sewer opening.

The Corpse Flower opened its freaky, meat-grinder-like mouth and lunged at her.

As the top dog of the Handshake Association, this was the first time she found herself in such deep crap. The boss, Alexandra, had told her to take out the owner of that restaurant.

But before she could even get started, this god-awful stench hit her like a truck. Her buddies got turned to ash without even putting up a fight.

She still couldn't wrap her head around how something could smell that bad and how the person who made it could even be alive. Just a tiny splash of that stuff hit her, and she felt like life wasn't worth living anymore!

She hoped she could wash this crap off; otherwise, she couldn't think of any other way to get rid of the stench besides offing herself!

She had already cranked her powers to the max, barely hanging on. The bullets from that young dude had some electric mojo, each one chipping away at the "beast" bit by bit. And then there were those two fierce wolves and that terrifying vine from earlier.

She wondered if Alexandra was pissed at her. Why else would she send her on a suicide mission with zero intel?

Facing the terrifying Corpse Flower, she let out a desperate scream. Thick black smoke rose from her body again. The ferocious Corpse Flower lunged through the black smoke with its gaping maw but couldn't touch her.

The Corpse Flower reared up like a giant python, trying hard to find its target, but no luck.

The black smoke drifted for a bit and then condensed again in a secluded corner two streets away. She reappeared, kneeling on the ground and retching painfully. If she could, she'd ditch her stomach because this constant puking was too much.

And with this smell on her, she couldn't go anywhere. How could someone reeking like this be an assassin?

She tried to prop herself up against the wall to keep running, but she failed. It seemed the Ghost Wolves and the Corpse Flower had done a number on her, even if it wasn't visible on the outside.

Trembling, she looked at the exit of the nearby alley. She blinked and saw a handsome figure with a guide cane not far away. Struggling to hide herself, she was at her weakest now. But exhausted, she ultimately blacked out and collapsed at the corner of the alley.

Alvin stood upwind a street away. The stench was slightly better here but still made his brain hurt.

He hesitated for a moment and told Sunvine to tie up the troublemaking little turtles and stash them in the restaurant's basement freezer. The smell there would be slightly better than outside. Letting them stay outside and stink to death wouldn't be good. They needed to stay alive for the punishment to mean something.

As for whether they'd freeze in the freezer, that wasn't Alvin's problem right now. He had bigger fish to fry!

Megan, in her pajamas, stood behind Alvin, pulling down her underwear that Alvin had used to cover his face. She playfully punched Alvin in the stomach, holding her pretty handgun in her right hand, cursing the little turtles through gritted teeth. She had never smelled so bad in her life.

Ginny, cradled in Alvin's arms with a gas mask on her little head, used one hand to pinch Alvin's nose and the other to cover his mouth, trying to help him block the stench since Megan had taken his mask. Without a mask, Alvin would be overwhelmed by the smell!

While trying to protect her dad, Ginny was bawling her eyes out. She thought she smelled so bad now that Alvin wouldn't like her anymore.

Alvin, sniffing and trying to comfort his daughter, kept reassuring her. As Ginny's tears flowed, the little turtles felt more and more ashamed.

Nick, also rocking a gas mask, kept bugging Ginny to take off the mask with him. He hadn't gotten a good whiff earlier. How could he miss out on experiencing such a gnarly stench? He needed some bragging rights later!

Nick's hot-headed dad smacked him on the back of the head, shutting him up. But knowing Nick, he wouldn't rest until he got a full dose of the smell.

Steve glanced around at everyone. Frank was chewing out his son, Jessica was almost out of strength from puking, and Jack and Peter were covering their mouths with wet towels, making faces and chatting about who knows what.

Looking at the small bottle in his hand, Steve thought with lingering fear that he was lucky to have caught it. If this thing had smashed into the room, it would have been a nightmare.

This stench was absolutely unbearable for humans, and probably any other creatures with a sense of smell. It seemed to hit you right in the brain, making you want to puke your guts out.

Taking a couple of careful breaths, Steve said to Alvin, "What are we gonna do, man? No one can live here."

Alvin looked at the street, now a mess from everyone's vomit, gritted his teeth, handed Ginny to Megan, and called out to Frank, "Frank, we need to get the cars out and take the girls and kids to a hotel. This place ain't getting cleaned up anytime soon."

Frank was the only one who hadn't puked. Hearing Alvin, he irritably sniffed and nodded at him.

The two held their breath and quickly ran to the restaurant entrance, driving out a Mercedes and an MPV.

Alvin got out and grabbed Peter, asking, "Can you drive?"

Peter regretfully glanced at the Mercedes' driver's seat and said, "No!" Under Alvin's disdainful gaze, Peter angrily said, "I can't afford a car, so why would I need a license?"

In the end, Megan drove the MPV, taking Jessica, Ginny, Nick, and Peter to find a hotel for the night.

Alvin, Frank, Steve, and Jack stayed behind to figure out a solution. Otherwise, it would be too stupid for everyone to be homeless because of a stench.

Frank first called Jack, and the two rushed to the apartment building's workroom, taking out a roll of fire hose. Then they ran to a fire hydrant, connected the hose, and turned on the hydrant, washing the filthy ground with water.

Steve handed the small bottle to Alvin, smiling bitterly, "Why are people so terrifying nowadays? How could they create such a horrible biochemical weapon?

If the Allies had this during World War II, there wouldn't have been any fighting. The Germans would have surrendered early!"

Alvin took the small bottle, held it up to the dim streetlight, and looked closely. The stuff inside was a disgusting yellow liquid.

Suppressing the urge to puke, Alvin gritted his teeth and said, "This is the work of some punk kids. I bet everything at home is trashed, and that's gonna cost a lot! Damn it! I'm gonna make them pay this time."

With that, Alvin took out his phone and called Chief Misty, "Hey, Misty, it's Alvin. I need your help."

"Yeah, someone launched a terrorist attack here, and my losses are huge!"

"No, no, no, no one died, but you need to find a way to get some fire trucks here. I suggest you come and see for yourself."

Looking around at the wandering, pitiful residents, Alvin said with deep feeling, "Come and see, it's terrible!"
