Druid in the Marvel Universe Chapter 38: Do You Have a Relative Named Washington?

The efficiency of the mob bosses was impressive. By the time Alvin left the bar, the first batch of silver reloaded bullets had already arrived. Although there weren't many, there weren't that many vampires in Hell's Kitchen either. Besides, Alexei was still making more.

Ginny's arrival made Alvin so happy that he was a bit out of his mind. As he was carrying Ginny out the door, he remembered something and turned to Kingpin, saying, "There's a vampire hiding at Lanshev's dock. He's helping these creatures by collecting stowaways to use as their food." He glanced at Lanshev, who was trembling with fear, and added, "Kill them all. They are traitors to humanity."

Kingpin impatiently glared at Alvin, seemingly thinking it was inappropriate to talk about killing in front of Ginny. He gave Ginny a hearty smile and waved Alvin off, then turned to Lanshev with a chilling look in his eyes.

The scene that followed was not suitable for little Ginny to see, so Alvin carried her out of the bar.

The sun outside was nice, and Alvin decided to take a walk with Ginny. Ginny had been here for five or six days, and Alvin hadn't really taken her out for a walk.

Ginny held onto one of Alvin's fingers, happily walking alongside her dad. The dog, Thor, followed behind, resting his big head on Ginny's shoulder. His fluffy fur occasionally tickled Ginny, making her giggle.

Alvin felt very happy, a happiness that came after the happiness of his previous life. He now had family and friends who would stand by him without hesitation when he needed them.

He ignored Officer Misty, who was standing by a police car across the street, obviously having come to investigate after hearing the news. He also ignored Jessica, who had come running over out of concern for Ginny.

Right now, Alvin just wanted to enjoy some father-daughter time with Ginny.

Hmm... why was Jessica holding a shotgun? Never mind, no one would mess with her; everyone around here knew her.

He didn't know how long they had been walking, but along the way, a beautiful woman named Dalia had flirted with him a bit. Alvin, who was in a great mood today, felt even better.

Seeing a convenience store ahead, Alvin smiled and asked, "Ginny, do you want some chocolate? Daddy will buy you some, okay?"

Ginny looked up at Alvin, puzzled, and said, "Chocolate? Ginny doesn't know. Ginny wants Daddy."

Alvin's nose suddenly tingled with emotion, feeling that he hadn't been a very good father. But it didn't matter; there was still plenty of time ahead. Hmm... today, he would buy all the snacks and see what his daughter liked. He couldn't be a well-known figure in Hell's Kitchen while his daughter hadn't even tasted chocolate.

The supermarket owner was a black man in his fifties, always showing a neat row of eight teeth when he smiled, which made people feel good about him. Alvin also found him very familiar.

Pulling a small cart, Alvin placed Ginny in it and started sampling snacks along the way. If something tasted good, he took more; if it didn't, he put it back. Hmm... so what if it was a bit uncouth? Well, he shouldn't set a bad example for the child. He grabbed a basket to put the unwanted snacks in and would pay for them all later.

Ginny, sitting in the cart, giggled happily, watching herself get buried in snacks. It wasn't until Ginny couldn't eat anymore that Alvin realized he had already filled three carts. A store clerk was helping him push the other two.

The young man was someone Alvin knew; he lived in his neighborhood. His name was Kenny, and he was Old Kent's nephew. Kenny's father had been shot dead on the street, and his mother had damaged her brain with drugs while pregnant with him. Kenny had been born with some intellectual disabilities and needed to be taught things many times before he could learn them. Old Kent had raised him, and somehow he had ended up working here.

Kenny recognized Alvin and, seeing him looking over, smiled foolishly and said, "Hi, Alvin."

Alvin smiled and gave Kenny a light punch on the chest, saying, "How did you end up working here? I had already talked to Old Kent about getting you a job as a security guard at the kindergarten."

Kenny scratched his head and grinned, "The boss was looking for help, so I tried out. The boss likes me, hehe."

Alvin knew the boss he was talking about was the familiar-looking black man he had seen earlier. Anyone who would hire Kenny couldn't be too bad.

Alvin didn't know which street they were on, having wandered aimlessly and feeling a bit disoriented. But it didn't matter; he would figure it out when they left. He could greet the people on this street and ask them not to cause trouble here. They would give him that much respect.

At the checkout, the owner came over to help and even gave Ginny a palm-sized lollipop, which made her very happy.

Alvin, looking at the increasingly familiar face of the owner, couldn't help but ask, "Buddy, did you ever work as a bodyguard or say something like, 'Forgiveness is God's business; my job is to arrange the meeting'?"

The owner's pupils contracted sharply. He pursed his lips, tilted his head, and said, "Sorry, I've never been a bodyguard, nor have I said such a cool line."

Alvin nodded in disappointment and asked, "Do you have a relative named Washington?"

The owner smiled, showing his eight teeth, and said, "No, my name is Robert McCall. Do you need anything else?"

Clearly, Alvin's random questions had caused a misunderstanding, and Robert didn't seem interested in continuing the conversation.

Alvin had a feeling this guy had a story, but he seemed very guarded and not easy to approach.

However, Alvin was too curious about him because he looked so much like a Hollywood star Alvin had admired in his previous life.

But since Robert didn't want to chat, Alvin let it go. Out of hospitality, Alvin said, "I'm the owner of the Peace Hotel on 25th Street. My name is Alvin. If you're interested, you can come by my place. You look a lot like someone I know, who happens to be my idol."

Robert, hearing this, relaxed a bit. He looked at Ginny, who was smiling foolishly with her snacks, and thought he might have been overreacting. This was just a loving father and daughter. They couldn't possibly know him.

Yes, when Alvin was with Ginny, people tended to overlook their racial differences and see them as a true father and daughter.

Robert smiled and said, "Sure, I'm looking for a place to have dinner. I'll come by and check it out. Maybe it'll become my regular spot." After thinking for a moment, he added, "I'm definitely not the person you think I am, but that line you mentioned is really cool. 'Forgiveness is God's business; my job is to arrange the meeting.' Wow, I need to write that down."

Alvin smiled and shook Robert's hand, feeling a sense of camaraderie. "You think so too? Then I think we'll become friends because we might share the same outlook on things."

Robert smiled and nodded, saying somewhat profoundly, "Sometimes, we have to make the wrong choices to end up in the right place. I hope this is that place!"
