Druid in the Marvel Universe Chapter 144: The Blind Man Can Fight

6 min 59.3K views

The next morning, Alvin was still knocked out. Yesterday was the best day he'd had in ages, though his back was kinda sore!

Megan slipped out of Alvin's arms early, thinking about how awesome he was last night. She gave him a soft kiss on the cheek, threw on some workout gear, and headed out for a morning run, feeling all refreshed.

Ginny barged into Alvin's room at the crack of dawn, yanked his head out from under the covers, and pinched his nose to get back at him for sending her back to her room while she was asleep last night. Daddy's a traitor, so he had to pay.

Half-asleep, Alvin grabbed Ginny's tiny hand and gave it a playful nibble before dozing off again.

Ginny, all fired up, shrieked and started bouncing on one of Alvin's abs, finally waking him up.

Alvin had no choice but to get up; if Ginny jumped a bit off, he'd be in big trouble!

He pulled Ginny down and started tickling her. "Can't a guy get some sleep around here?"

Ginny laughed uncontrollably from the tickling and had no choice but to forgive Alvin.

Sleeping was out of the question now. Alvin got up, washed up, grabbed the messy-haired Ginny, and made her wash her face. He expertly braided her hair. Looking at Ginny in the mirror, he thought, "Hmm, not bad! My girl looks just like her old man!"

In the dining room, a cheerful Alvin had breakfast with Ginny. Ginny's breakfast was cereal with milk, while Alvin snagged a few sandwiches from Joseph, along with a big glass of OJ.

Megan, back from her run, saw Alvin and blew him a playful kiss, winking at him. That smile was so annoying, so Alvin yanked Megan over to sit on his lap!

Megan, all smiles, kissed Alvin on the forehead like he was a kid, and giggled as she headed upstairs to shower!

Feeling triumphant, Alvin gave Megan a playful slap on the butt as she left, then turned to tie a napkin around Ginny's neck to save the washing machine some work. The way she was wolfing down her food was kinda scary.

Jessica, who'd been up for a while, came downstairs dragging Nick by the scruff of his neck like a stray dog and plopped him into a chair. Judging by his zombie-like state, Nick must've stayed up late gaming last night!

Jessica tugged Nick's ear to wake him up and then daintily ate a diet veggie sandwich. Alvin noticed her pained expression while eating, meaning the sandwich probably tasted like cardboard!

Steve, Frank, and Jack had gone out late last night and probably wouldn't be getting up anytime soon.

Alvin thought these guys who ditched their boss to have fun were jerks, even though Jack had given him plenty of signals last night, all of which Alvin ignored. Seriously, could the girls at the nightclub be hotter than Megan?

But a scolding was still in order. Leaving the boss behind to party, was that cool? Couldn't they wait until the boss was free to join in?

Alvin's good mood didn't last long. A call from the school made his face darken.

A security guard called, saying some old blind dude was wandering around the school's dorm construction site and had injured several guards who tried to chase him away.

Alvin couldn't believe there was such a gutsy blind guy in the world. Coming to Hellfire Boulevard and still being so bold—if he wasn't nuts, he must be really tough!

After giving some instructions at home and kissing Ginny on the head, Alvin couldn't wait for Megan to come downstairs and rushed off to the school.

At the Lincoln Valley School dorm construction site, the Rand Group's construction team was pretty efficient. In two months, the dorm's foundation was almost done.

When Alvin rolled up, a bunch of school security guards with a bit of a violent streak were tailing this plain-dressed blind old dude. "Surrounding" might be a stretch—they were just kinda following him around!

Four or five guards were clutching their shoulders, sprawled on the ground, glaring daggers at the blind guy.

Alvin got closer and saw it wasn't as bad as it looked. These tough-looking guards had finally met their match. But then again, the guy was blind!

The injured guards got all worked up when they saw Alvin, like they wanted to say something, but Alvin just raised his hand to shut them up.

The principal gave the usually cocky guards a disdainful look and said, "Guys, I thought you could keep the school safe. Looks like I overestimated you!

Letting a blind man come in and hurt people, what were you thinking? So many of you got injured, so forget about this month's bonus!"

The guards, hearing their bonuses were getting docked, actually looked relieved. They knew Alvin getting mad and fining them wasn't the scary part. If he got mad and stayed polite, that was when you should worry!

Alvin glanced at the blind old man still wandering around the construction site and waved for the guards to back off.

Why were so many people crowding a blind guy? They couldn't beat him up, so where was their sense of being victims?

Alvin pulled out his phone and dialed Chief Misty's number.

"Hey, Chief Misty, it's Alvin," he said into the phone.

"Yeah, I got back yesterday. The trip was awesome.

Chief Misty, I need to report something. Someone's trespassed on the Lincoln Valley School dorm construction site and hurt some of the guards."

"Yeah, he's still here. I need you to come handle this." Alvin looked at the injured guards. "My guys are pretty banged up. You need to hurry; I want to get them to the hospital soon!"

The injured guards exchanged glances. Acting all tough before, now they were lying on the ground, letting out pitiful screams like they were on death's door!

"Yeah, officer, I'm a law-abiding citizen, so I'm reporting this to you first.

Or do you want me to handle it myself?"

"Please hurry; my guys are in a lot of pain!"

The blind old man in the distance seemed to catch the commotion. He paused, shook his head, and ignored Alvin's call, giving Alvin a disdainful sneer instead.

The blind old man kept wandering around the construction site, tapping the ground with his cane and listening carefully.

The old man's actions were really getting on Alvin's nerves, reminding him of something unpleasant.

This place used to be a hot spot for the Handshake Association, and it probably still is. If you can't prove your identity and purpose later, I'll make you pay! The price will depend on your attitude and your intentions!

Alvin got why his school's guards were having a hard time. They were armed, but asking them to use guns on a blind old man was a bit much. They were just guards, not gangsters. Even the worst thugs on Hellfire Boulevard wouldn't shoot a blind disabled person.

If someone came looking for trouble with a gun, they'd fight back. But this was just a blind old man wandering around the construction site, and they didn't know what to do. They had no clue what was buried under the dorm construction site!

Alvin figured the blind old man was pretty skilled, which made it tough for the usually tough guys to handle.

Alvin knew only one very skilled blind man, and he hoped they weren't connected!
