Druid in the Marvel Universe Chapter 89: Economic Mind
As a principal, Alvin would never mingle with gang leaders, even though he was very curious about what these guys wanted to do.
After a while, both teams changed into their uniforms. The boys, holding their helmets, surrounded their coach, listening intently to what he had to say.
Steve curiously moved to the side of the community school, wanting to hear what the bald coach had to say. It would also help him prepare for his own work.
To Steve's astonishment, Coach Bill held a report card and seriously said to the team members, "The test results from this morning are out. The 10th to 12th-grade exams had the same difficulty but different content.
Now, I will announce the list of players for the game."
Steve felt like he had been hit on the head with a heavy hammer. He always thought Alvin was joking, but it turned out that the team really had to take a test to play!
Looking at Coach Bill's bald head, Steve scratched his own hair in frustration. He finally understood the big trouble Alvin had been emphasizing.
Steve noticed a few strong kids he was particularly interested in, all with constipated expressions. Steve felt a bit sad, thinking he might lose his hair too!
Nick, leaning on crutches, tugged at Steve's clothes and said seriously, "Steve, you have to find a way to get 'Landlord,' 'Dagger,' and 'Lighthouse' into the game, or we might lose badly today!"
Steve looked at Nick and said, "The community school decides the game roster based on this?
How did you guys get second place in New York State last year?"
Nick said helplessly, "For official games, as long as your regular test scores are passing, you can play.
This is just a warm-up game, Steve. You have to think of something. The guys on the other side are looking at us very unfriendly. You have to get 'Landlord' up there to deal with them!"
Steve smiled wryly and said, "I can't do anything. It's my first day on the job!"
Nick, frustrated, scratched his head and shouted at Coach Bill, who was arranging the players, "Bill, you have to think of something. The guys on the other side are looking at us very annoyingly!"
Good-natured Coach Bill waved the report card in his hand and said, "This is the principal's rule. I can't do anything about it either. I don't like that guy either!" Bill said, glaring at the strong bald guy on the other side of the field.
Alvin sat in the stands holding Ginny, bored, waiting for the game to start.
Clark Gable, the boss from the next street, the gang leader who sold fake goods, came over with a bucket of popcorn.
Clark handed the popcorn to little Ginny and said with a smile to Alvin, "Principal Alvin, there's something we want to discuss with you."
Alvin nodded, indicating that Ginny could eat. The little girl happily grabbed a handful of popcorn and stuffed it into her dad's mouth before carefully picking the most popped pieces for herself.
In a good mood, Alvin said with a smile, "Gable, my friend, what do you want to talk about? I haven't thanked you yet for sponsoring the team's uniforms and shoes!
That's not a small amount of money!"
Clark smiled awkwardly, not daring to tell Alvin that the hottest-selling items in Hell's Kitchen were the jerseys the kids were wearing, with Thor's head printed on them!
Clark used to sell counterfeit clothes, but now these jerseys were designed and produced by his factory. He was selling them with the "Gable" trademark, making a lot of money!
"Hehe, it's nothing, it's nothing, all for the school! Besides, my son is also on the team, a little sponsorship is nothing!
I will provide this sponsorship for the team every year, please promise me that!" Clark said sincerely.
Alvin was very happy. Why not accept sponsorships that came to him?
Happily agreeing to Clark's request, Alvin asked, "So, what is it you want to talk about?"
Clark said a bit shyly, "Some of us old buddies really like the team, so we discussed it and want to renovate the school's field."
Seeing Alvin looking at him like he was dog poop, Clark quickly added, "Of course, we have a few small requests." Clark carefully looked at Alvin and said softly, "Can we put up a few advertising boards during the games? Just three will do!"
Alvin sneered at Clark and said, "Advertisements! Are you guys crazy? What kind of ads do you want to put up?
Do you want to put up ads for marijuana and guns in my school? Who gave you this idea? Tell me, and I'll beat the crap out of him!"
Clark quickly shook his hand and said, "Not illegal stuff! All legal, all legal!
My factory's clothes and shoes, Old William's whiskey, Kraken's construction team, Reed's logistics company, Yard's nightclub.
All legitimate businesses, absolutely legitimate!"
Alvin looked at Clark with a headache. He understood now; these guys didn't want to help the school renovate the field. They wanted to find a way out for their businesses. Where else could they advertise?
These guys with guns couldn't compete with commercial companies in legitimate business.
They had no choice but to think of something in Hell's Kitchen, and the school's football team was the best opportunity. Didn't Clark make a lot of money?
Alvin wanted to agree with them, but clothes and shoes were one thing. Alcohol ads in a school? No way!
Yard's nightclub was a strip club; did they think he didn't know?
Suppressing the urge to punch Clark in the nose, Alvin said, "Some things can't be advertised. Go talk to Nelson and discuss it with him!
Remember, if you dare to put strip club ads in my school, I'll blow your head off!"
Clark anxiously asked, "Why can't we advertise? These are all legal, licensed businesses.
Alvin, you're a fair man; you can't do this! Renovating the field isn't cheap!"
Alvin didn't want to look at this guy with a superstar's name but a fool's brain anymore. He waved his hand, signaling this idiot to get lost and go find Nelson to sort it out. Don't bother the principal with such small matters!
Besides, the game on the field was about to start, but why did the boys on both sides look like they were ready to fight?
Little Ginny was also getting excited, waving her fists in Alvin's arms, looking ready to jump into the fight, giving Alvin a headache.
This girl was getting a bit out of hand!
Suddenly, Alvin remembered something and called out to Clark, "Hey, buddy, tell me who gave you this idea? You guys couldn't have thought of this on your own!"
Clark laughed and said, "It was a kid named Harry Osborn. He's a classmate of Old Parker's nephew. I helped him out a bit, and he gave us some ideas!"
