Druid in the Marvel Universe Chapter 90: Thank God!
Alvin felt that the name Harry Osborn sounded familiar. He thought about it seriously but still couldn't recall. He vaguely remembered that the billionaire Norman Osborn had a son who was Peter's classmate and friend. He wondered if this Harry Osborn was the same person.
But who cares! He's not a student at my school! Anyone who can chat with gangsters doesn't sound like a good person!
Looking at the field below, a group of energetic boys were already fighting before the game even started.
Nick was standing on one leg, waving his cane, and cheering for the school team members from the sidelines!
Steve and the strong bald guy rushed in to separate the two sides, which wasn't easy. Alvin clearly saw Steve take several hits to his lower body, making the tough guy jump in anger.
Coach Bill could only hold back a few belligerent guys on the sidelines to prevent them from causing more trouble!
The school's team was driving him crazy. In just one year, Bill, a thirty-year-old man, looked like he was forty and was often mistaken for forty-five.
This unlucky divorced man still hadn't found a chance to remarry and didn't dare to quit his job because he had a large alimony payment to his ex-wife every month!
Bill's situation served as a warning to all the unmarried male teachers at the school: be cautious about marriage, and even more cautious about divorce!
Alvin, holding the excited Ginny, moved to the sidelines.
The situation was very chaotic, but fortunately, no one was injured. From a distance, he could hear Steve yelling in the bald guy's face, "Control your players, you bald-headed son of a bitch!"
Being from the military, Steve knew how to win over a group of newcomers. His biased attitude immediately made the school team members like him. They gathered behind him in a large group!
The bald guy seemed to be encountering such a tough team for the first time. They were ready to fight without hesitation.
He was a bit stunned. After all, his team was made up of bad boys from prison, and most football teams wouldn't be as gutsy as this community school team.
And their coach didn't seem to have a good temper either!
Surprisingly, this tough-looking, strong bald guy had a good temper. He didn't retaliate when Steve cursed at him but instead actively calmed his players!
This made Steve feel a bit embarrassed, even though the conflict was indeed started by the other side!
Seeing the two sides separate, Alvin whistled sharply with his fingers and made a fist gesture to Bill, signaling him to treat this game as an official match.
Are you kidding me? Starting a fight with my school team? Do you think our school is easy to bully?
Nick saw Alvin's gesture and excitedly ran to the coach's bench, shouting to the players in a mob boss tone, "Go, guys, show these jailbirds what we're made of! Make them cry for their mommies!"
The tall players being subbed in would ruffle Nick's hair as they passed by, making him wobble.
Since it was a warm-up game, there was no kickoff. The prison team started their offense from their own 20-yard line.
The good-tempered bald guy approached Alvin with a humble demeanor, extended his hand, and said, "Hi, I'm Sean Porter, coach of the Mustangs. Are you Principal Alvin?"
Alvin liked polite people. He shook hands with him and said, "Yes, I'm Alvin."
Sean looked a bit nervous and said, "Here's the thing, I'm a warden at the juvenile prison. I organized this team to give these kids a future and keep them out of trouble. Recently, two kids were released and enrolled in your school. I've observed your school closely. Would you be interested in taking in more of these kids?"
Alvin looked at Sean with interest. This was a thoughtful person looking for the best path for the kids he managed, and it seemed he had found it!
Alvin smiled and said to Sean, "Our school accepts all age-appropriate students, but you'll have to get past the Department of Education first. Otherwise, the tuition for those kids will be a big problem. After all, this is a school, not a charity!"
Sean was thrilled to get Alvin's positive response. Finding a school willing to accept the kids was the hardest part for him. He had done everything he could; the rest was up to the kids and their families.
Sean couldn't influence the Department of Education to allocate funds to Alvin's school to accept these kids, but it was a way out, wasn't it?
This community school was the best fit for those released kids that Sean had ever seen!
Sean laughed heartily and said, "Thank you! Thank you so much, Principal Alvin! You know, I've been worried sick about these kids! I'm really afraid of hearing that one of them got shot on the street one day!"
Alvin found himself starting to like this guy. He genuinely cared about the kids and was working hard for them. He was a good guy who truly cared for the kids!
But Alvin wouldn't accept these prison kids unconditionally just because Sean was a good person. That wouldn't be fair to the kids in Hell's Kitchen, and the school's capacity was limited!
Alvin smiled, patted Sean on the shoulder, and said, "Buddy, we'll do everything we can, and leave the rest to God! You're a good man, and my school will always welcome you as a guest!"
Sean nodded gratefully, shook hands with Alvin again, and said, "You're a great principal. The kids are lucky to have you!"
Alvin shook his head, pointed to the players on the field who were at it again, and laughed, "You should ask those kids. They probably don't think so, haha!"
Sean slapped his forehead and rushed over, grabbing a big guy's helmet and shouting, "Barney, you can't always go for people's heads. Can you put your fists down?"
Steve quickly got into the role. In just a short time, he became the players' confidant and blended in with them.
Coach Bill finally breathed a sigh of relief after Steve arrived. He was considering asking Principal Alvin if he could switch to teaching high school math, which was his actual job.
Alvin watched the lively field with great interest. Ginny, sitting on the ground by his feet, was also enjoying it. She loved watching a bunch of people fight. She was disappointed that the fight didn't break out earlier. Now it seemed like it was about to start again, and the little girl excitedly waved her fists, shouting, "Fight, fight, fight!"
Alvin decided to bring Ginny to watch such intense sports less often in the future. It was extremely irresponsible for her future boyfriend!
Just as Alvin was lost in thought, his phone rang. It was Old Parker calling!
Old Parker's voice was very heavy on the phone, "Principal Alvin, I messed up. Those kids we sent away are missing! Matt and that Danny Rand took Colleen to the island! I'm sorry, I messed up!"
Alvin felt very touched. This had nothing to do with Old Parker, but he took the responsibility on himself. He was a very responsible person!
"It's okay, Old Parker. In a few days, those kids will be sent back, and you'll be busy then!"
Looking at the bald guy on the field, Alvin continued on the phone, "Thank God! There are always good people like you in this world!"
