Druid in the Marvel Universe Chapter 121: The Duty of a Good Person

Man, today’s been one wild ride. Blade might not be the friendliest dude around, but he’s still a hero in my book. He only takes out vamps and their buddies.

Alvin couldn’t just sit back and watch Blade get shredded.

He carefully backed the car into a spot, making sure it was a good distance from the action. No way he wanted his ride getting trashed. Alvin knew his savings wouldn’t cover a new car for Tony, even if Tony wouldn’t care. Better safe than sorry, right?

From afar, he spotted a bunch of dudes in black combat gear, packing automatic rifles, moving in on Blade like they were in some action movie.

Alvin got a familiar vibe from their moves, and more importantly, he recognized a familiar face not too far off.

Agent Phil, with his receding hairline and honest mug, showed up with a stylish, handsome middle-aged guy.

Phil walked up to Alvin, nodded politely, and smiled, “Hey, Mr. Gonzalez, we meet again. We’ll handle this quick and won’t take up too much of your time.”

Alvin ignored Phil. His past run-ins with S.H.I.E.L.D. were anything but fun.

Instead, he checked out the handsome middle-aged dude next to Phil. Honestly, with his looks, he should be trying his luck in Hollywood. His graying hair and beard were on point, and his features were sharp. Most importantly, his cowboy vibe made him look way cooler than Phil.

This guy was rocking a tailored black suit, definitely not the cheap stuff Phil wore. The big belt buckle and the silver gun at his waist made him look like a city-slicker cowboy. If you put him in the nearby “Light Bar,” the guys in there would lose their minds!

Alvin thought to himself that at his age, he wouldn’t be as handsome as this guy. But he’d never holster a gun at his waist, pointing at his own junk!

The guy raised an eyebrow, glanced at Alvin, and then looked around like he was bored. His eyes were lazy, like he was tired of his job and just wanted to hit the bar for a beer.

He seemed friendly enough, but Alvin couldn’t shake the feeling that this guy was dangerous.

Alvin glanced at Phil and said with a smirk, “S.H.I.E.L.D. is so polite now? I thought you’d flash a badge and demand my cooperation.

Oh, could you step aside? My buddy just got attacked by terrorists.

You guys need to do something about it. These terrorists are getting too bold, attacking civilians on the street with RPGs! Is Homeland Security useless? Are our tax dollars funding their dating lives?

And Phil, could you call the cops for me?”

Phil rubbed his forehead helplessly. He felt that if he ran into Alvin a few more times, he might as well kiss his already thinning hair goodbye.

The handsome middle-aged guy next to him, intrigued by Alvin’s attitude and Phil’s expression, extended his right hand and introduced himself, “I’m Russell, head of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Anomalous Creature Division. I think I’m very pleased to meet you.”

Russell’s slightly cocky words amused Alvin. A head of the creature division acting all high and mighty in front of me? My school’s football coach is Captain America, do I brag about it every day?

Alvin shook hands with Russell and smiled, “Hey, I’m Alvin, principal of Lincoln Valley School in New York.”

Then Alvin looked deeply at Russell and said, “You can start being pleased now because you’ve met me!”

Russell grinned like an innocent kid and said, “Yeah, I’m very pleased because there are always so many brave people in this world. I’m starting to like you, Alvin, really!”

Alvin shivered at Russell's smile, shot him a sideways glance, and pointed to the "Light Bar" nearby. "Then you’ve got the wrong guy. Your lover’s probably in there!

Now, move it. My buddy hasn’t made a peep, and I’m worried he’s in trouble!"

With that, Alvin puffed out his chest and tried to push past the two men.

Phil raised his hand anxiously. "Hold up, Alvin. You just got to L.A. I don’t know how you know him, but you might not even realize he’s a half-vampire.

And we’re not here to hurt him. He’s a good vampire hunter, but he’s been going after the wrong targets lately. We need to have a chat with him!"

Alvin laughed in exasperation, pointing to the blown-up car. "Is this how you invite someone for a chat? With an RPG?"

As Alvin and Phil argued, a flippant voice came from an alley. "What’s there to talk about? Just knock him out. We’ve got a lot to do!"

A young guy in leather pants, shirtless, strutted out of the alley with a few goons who looked like they enjoyed a good brawl. As they passed Blade, they jabbed him with stun guns, making him twitch like a fish out of water.

The light was too dim to see clearly before, but as they got closer, Alvin realized they were vampires with red eyes and fangs.

Alvin glanced at Phil, whose expression made Phil a bit scared. He knew Alvin’s stance on vampires. Just as he was about to say something—

Without giving Phil a chance to speak, Alvin pulled out his M500 and shot at the lead vampire.

The bullet blew a big hole in the vampire’s head, and he fell cleanly to the ground, twitching like a skinned frog.

Unfortunately, he missed the leader! Just scared him a bit!

As soon as Alvin fired, all the armed personnel across from him raised their guns, ready to shoot.

Phil raised his hands above his head, placing himself in front of Alvin, and frantically waved his arms. "Don’t shoot, don’t shoot!" He had studied Alvin and knew he wasn’t afraid of firearms. Phil couldn’t let his colleagues go up against Alvin; it would be irresponsible to his colleagues!

The armed personnel lowered their guns, wanting to hear what Phil had to say since they weren’t the ones being attacked.

Alvin didn’t care what they were saying. He decisively pulled the trigger again, firing two more shots. One grazed the lead vampire’s waist, blowing off one of his henchmen’s forearms, and the other opened a big hole in the leader’s belly. The lead vampire screamed, clutching his stomach and half-kneeling to keep his intestines from spilling out!

Phil was going crazy. He turned and yelled at Alvin, "Hey! What’s wrong with you? Can’t we just talk?"

In response, another gunshot rang out, and another vampire was hit in the neck. The bullet’s massive power left only half of his neck attached to his body. The unfortunate vampire couldn’t even make a sound, clutching his neck and collapsing to the ground!

Phil glanced at the fallen vampires, then turned back to Alvin and shouted, "Can you let me finish my sentence?" He then watched in horror as Alvin pulled the trigger again, but luckily, the gun didn’t fire this time.

Alvin opened the cylinder, checked, and said, "Oh, six bullets are gone." Ignoring Phil’s shouting, Alvin holstered his gun and pulled out a harpoon, ready to finish off the remaining vampires.

Alvin firmly believed that killing every vampire he saw was a duty of all good people!

As for S.H.I.E.L.D.'s connection with these vampires, what did that have to do with him?

Would the police come after him for killing a few vampires? Would a judge find him guilty?
