Omega Bound Chapter 101

Thane

Pulling Ayla through the compound with bullets flying, and hand-to-hand combat happening all around is a damn nightmare. My wolf is riding me hard to get her out of here, but he is also proud that she saved Tyler. She is keeping her head up, alert, and focused. Yes, I can sense her nerves, but she isn't rattled. Her wolf's instincts steady her, and I think Little Wolf is more of a warrior than we realized. She isn't a dainty princess as her inherited title would have her to be.

No, she is laser focused on this mission. Her 100% confidence and trust in me and my team is enough to make me want to have the claiming ceremony all over again. She is one of us and she functions like it.

I love it.

*"Damon, take your team and clear the upper rooms. Get any victims out to the rendezvous point. Stay in constant communication so victims aren't caught in the crossfire. Devin, get the scum rounded up. Matt, your team needs to hold the perimeter. Cyrus were going down. On me."* I mind-link and grab onto Little Wolf's hand and pull her behind me.

Guns drawn, Myself, Ayla, and Cyrus look for the basement of this building. We start down the back hallway. The lights are flickering above us. We come to a doorway on the left. I held my hand up to alert Cyrus to stop so we could clear the room.

I train my hearing and can only make out one heartbeat behind the wall. I take a step to the right and go to turn into the doorway with my gun drawn, but a shifter darts out with a knife at the same time. The knife never finds its way into my flesh though. What would have sliced my arm open had no chance. Little Wolf’s hand on my back caused me to be engulfed by her shield, the shifters knife coming down hard and the cracking of bone and his brutal scream was music to my ears.

Ayla immediately drops her shield, and I fire a round into the shifters head.

I pull her behind me as I quickly go in and scan the room. Finding it empty, we continue down the hall. I receive mind-links that the outside is secure, and that Damon has found four girls and one boy upstairs. We make our way to the back of the compound and come up to a secured, pin-pad entry door.

I motion my head to Cyrus, and he immediately comes up and starts getting to work with C4 while I watch his back. Little Wolf is scanning her surroundings, and I push calm and reassurance through the bond to help steady her. She is a vision in her tactical gear. If I stare at her too long, I will lose focus on what I am doing, but we will be discussing my thoughts on her in the gear later.

Cyrus motions for us to back up. We start to back away and hunker down. I hear Little Wolf laughing faintly as we open our eyes to see that she has her arms on our shoulders, and we are inside her blue shield. The thing is blue but see through. I am not sure I will get used to seeing it.

"Shit yes! Let's see if this thing is bomb proof!" Cyrus snarks off. "Wait...no.." but I am too late. He is quick on the draw and pushes that little black button on the lever in his hand and that door blows off and out.

The door and debris bounce off the orb and we can barely hear the explosion from within its safety. Ayla watches in awe as everything flies around us. Cyrus is laughing his ass off and I make a mental note to murder him later for not letting me get Little Wolf at least shielded with myself before blowing the door.

"I have so many plans for this thing." Cyrus says behind us.

"You have no plans for this "thing" as you call it, because it is Little Wolf's, and you are not borrowing her...EVER Cyrus."

"Don't hate, participate Thane." I give him the 'you are a dead shifter walking' look before the dust settles and Ayla drops her shield. If there were shifters down there, they are aware of our presence now.

I pull Ayla behind me as Cyrus comes behind her and we go through the doorway. We start heading down the stairs and I can make out a few heart beats racing and smell other wolves. Little Wolf throws her shield up before we round the corner off the last step and are met with rounds of bullets. They ricochet off her shield just as Cyrus predicted and he comes up from the rear and fires using us to shield him as he puts down the three shifters shooting at us.

They go down hard as she drops the shield, and we start moving in. I am severely disappointed we haven't found Mikhail yet. *"Alpha, we got company. They just started up the service road. Ten vehicles as of right now. They are flying. We are going to try and take them out before breaching the perimeter. ETA to you guys, five minutes."* I receive via mind-link. We have been made. Someone got out notification or a mind-link before we could put them down.

"We've got incoming. Ten vehicles. We have to move out now." I say while we try and clear the large area. He isn't here.

"I don't see him. Did they find him?" Ayla asks, desperation clear in her tone.

"Not yet, but we will. We have to go though. We have to go now." I grabbed her hand and started to leave, but Cyrus doesn't follow. "What the hell are you doing? We have incoming we need to get to the rendezvous sight. We have to go." I yell at him, but he has a look of bewilderment on his face and is looking around frantically. I mind-link the perimeter teams to get everyone out. They will wait for us to leave, and I can't have the whole team sitting ducks when we don't know how many forces are coming. We must get these victims safe.

"My mate is here!" He yells out and I furrow my brows in confusion. "I can smell her Thane. She is here somewhere; I am not leaving."

"She may have been here before, but I don't see anyone now. We have to move, or we are fucked Cyrus."

"I am not leaving. Would you leave Ayla?" I can't argue with that, and I look back at Little Wolf, and she nods in agreement. Not that we really needed to think about it. We must look for his mate.

"Alright, let's start looking then. We will deal with getting out later."

We check the space and find nothing. Cyrus is moving away crates of weapons, and his nose is leading the way for us to follow. Underneath he finds a hatch and opens it while I have a gun trained down. He dives down first, and Ayla follows with me behind. The secret stairs lead to an underground bunker full of weapons. It is a damn armory but what takes me by surprise is the female shifter chained to the floor in the corner, wearing a muzzle.
