Omega Bound Chapter 116
Cyrus
Fireball thinks she's real slick. In a normal pack, that statement would be considered an Alpha challenge. A fight to the death for the title. Except, in this pack she doesn't know Thane is an Alpha of Alphas and that nobody is stupid enough to challenge him. She also doesn't understand how the two of us function. She probably thinks I am some kind of Alpha's bitch boy. She will soon learn we function as brothers.
I pull out my phone and push the button. It rings a few times and then Thane answers.
"Why are you calling me? You never call me." Thane sounds out of breath. Probably doing what I wish I was doing. If that is the case, he's dumb for answering.
"I called to tell you I want your job."
"You're a dumbass. Never call me again," and just like that, Thane hangs up.
"Easy peasy, lemon cake or however it goes. My turn. Truth or dare Fireball?"
"He just.... he didn't care? Maybe you should have said you were challenging him."
"Well, I said what you told me to say. That is a you problem, not a me problem darling. It wouldn't matter though. He knew it was bullshit. My turn. Truth or dare?" Raven chews on her finger nails a minute before speaking.
"Truth."
"Don't want to mix it up huh? I respect that. Okay. Did you love the Alpha that rejected you?" I know I am going right for the jugular with that one. I will know by her heart rate whether she tells me the truth.
She stares at me for a moment, trying to control her emotions. Her heart rate picks up. Maybe I went too far with that one. I also think I got my answer. Instead of answering, she drinks another shot straight. "My turn. Truth or dare Cyrus." I weigh my options here.
I really am an open book so I can't think of a question she could ask that I would have to drink for.
I also need to drink so she isn't the only one drunk.
I also shouldn't drink so I can take care of her.
Damn. My plan went off the rails fast.
"Dare."
"Okay. I dare you to...to...Damn it, I don't know. I dare you to take off your shirt!" Raven blurts out and her cheeks redden. I throw my head back in laughter and proceed to remove my hoodie. I throw it at her. Unfortunately for her, I have a tee shirt underneath.
"Sorry girl. No sneak peeks for you." I caught a faint hint of a smile starting to form on her lips. Oh, so close.
"My turn. Truth or dare Fireball?" Oh fates, please pick dare. Please pick dare.
"Dare." She says, and I can barely contain my excitement.
"I dare you to put my hoodie on." I say as smooth as butter. Her face contorts to complete confusion. Yeah girl...I got you.
"What? That's it? That's your dare?"
"Yep." I pop the P for extra dramatics because I can.
She nods her head and throws the hoodie on. I am sad to see the sight of that belly go, but I am excited for what I have started.
My scent will flood her system.
She will get used to it.
It will be a form of comfort for her.
She will seek the smell out.
The scent of her mate will arouse her as well.
The more she wears it, the more comfortable she will get with her mate around.
Bingo. I notice her chin tilt down into it several times already, scenting me within the shirt. It is impossible for me to hide my grin.
"Truth or dare Cyrus?" She asks a little more relaxed than before.
"Truth." Let's see what she wants to learn about me.
"If I tell you where I am from, who rejected me. Will you kill them?" Raven asks, and I did not see that coming. I'm also not a liar.
"Yes." I say quickly before even thinking about the ramifications.
"That's why I won't tell you.” She huffs at me.
Huffs.
"Why are you protecting them?" I ask dumbfounded. "You were rejected. You were kidnapped." I remind her.
"Yes Cyrus, Me. It was me. Not you." Fireball yells at me.
"You are my mate." I yell back at her.
"You weren't there." She yells back at me, pointing her finger.
"I know, but I was the one rescuing you from the fucking ring Raven. I chose you. I found your scent when it was time to retreat. We were outnumbered with more incoming and instead of leaving I chose you. I chose to find you, put my team at risk, and go against my Alpha's plan. I am the one that chose you. Not him." I yell, more heated than it should've been.
"Do you think this is something that should be easy for me to talk about? I love him, Cyrus… Loved him…. He rejected me and gave me or sold me to the ring. An Alpha that wanted a pretty, dainty Luna and not a warrior Luna. Okay. The Alpha of my pack rejected me, Cyrus. Four weeks ago. We were friends, lovers. Good enough as friends with benefits. Not good enough when the mate bond flared to life. I also have no idea why it took so long to flair between us. He is the reason I was in that damn ring. Years of love. Didn't matter. Doesn't matter. His chosen mate didn't want me around. That shit isn't easy to talk about."
I stare at her, my eyes wide in shock. So much pain in her words. So much she isn't telling me, but she did tell me something.
Cyrus-three
Raven-zero.
"I am the luckiest shifter on the planet." I say as I clear my throat, leaning more closely, facing her. Our bodies are both turned toward each other now.
"Why?" Raven whispers, looking down.
"Because. The fates chose you as a Luna and now you're my mate. To me that is an honor. My mate is Luna. That makes me proud."
"I'm not a Luna. I was rejected." Raven whispers again as her voice trembles.
I tip her chin up with my fingers, forcing her to look at me. "You were chosen as a Luna. That makes you a Luna. Just because it hasn't happened yet, doesn't mean it won't. Plus, you'll always be my Luna." I smile at her, and she smirks back, removing my hand away from her chin, but she doesn't remove her fingers from my wrist.
Cyrus-four,
Raven-zero.
Well, maybe 1.
She got me out of my hoodie, but that was also my idea. So, she is back to zero.
I don't tell her how close to reality her Luna status could be if Thane decides to take on his Alpha of Alphas seat of authority. That would move me up to Alpha of this pack. That could be a little fate nugget I just realized, but I decide to keep it to myself from all parties involved.
I think sometimes it is wisdom to guard some revelations for a while.
