Omega Bound Chapter 131
Thane
I can hardly wait to surprise Ayla with my arrival. It is pretty late, and I will probably crawl into bed wherever she is and pull her close. If she wakes up great, but I won't wake her at this hour. I just want to be near her. It feels like a lifetime ago when I left and it has only been a few days. I would give anything right now to blink and be in my home, holding her. I can't wait to trace the curves of her body with my mouth, but that will have to wait until the lack of sleep I am trying to function under is remedied. We hashed out our alliances and should have intel on a few recon places we agreed upon soon, hopefully giving us Mikhails whereabouts. I can't wait to meet my father-in-law. It will be a painful introduction.
*"Alpha, we have an emergency at the heat clinic. It's on fire. There isn't anything left of the building. There wasn't anyone using it tonight."* Snowgreene mind-links and I smack my hand against the dash. "Damn it, Cyrus!" I yell out. I should have known he would do something reckless like this. Reckless is his middle name. He has never thought about the consequences of his extreme reactions since we were kids. He acts first and attempts to float through the aftermath of it later. His fear of abandonment is going to ramp up the longer his mate bond goes unfinished. I would talk to Raven about it, but don't want to guilt trip her into anything, but I fear the pack won't survive the two of them amping up in anyway. First his car, then the heat clinic. What is next? This has to end.
*"Notify all of the scheduled shifters that utilize the clinic. Offer mobile services until we get this figured out. Let the servicing alphas know the plan. I will handle who is responsible."* I inform Snowgreene. *"Do you think rogues got through the border patrol?" he asks. "No. I think we have a mentally unstable Cyrus running around." "Oh, well yes that does make more sense."* He replies. Of course it makes more sense. He once created a damn garland at the border to better identify our boundaries to other packs. Wouldn't be such a bad idea if he didn't make it out of the nipples he sliced off of trespassing rogues. A little extreme but does help with our image. I fear how he will run the pack if I step into my other role.
Now I need to decide if I should deal with Cyrus tonight or go straight to my little wolf, who's entire being is calling to me right now. Well, if it comes down to bitching at Cyrus or holding little wolf, I am going home. Every time. *"Get James and his team to contain the fire and rope off the area. Put up signs and keep everyone away. Then go back to sleep. We will figure it out tomorrow. Thank you, I appreciate it. Wake me if anything changes or anything new comes up."* Now, I need to decide how to alert the members and address this situation, but I am sure by tomorrow and the telephone game everyone will know who started it, they just won't know the truth as to why.
*"Your ass better meet me in my office tomorrow, first thing you do. This little stunt of yours has gone too far."* I mind-link Cyrus and close him off. I am too pissed to hear anything he will have to say, and I don't want to say something I will regret right now. I am on edge and don't want to be pushed over it.
I pull up my drive and practically run up the steps and through the house, throwing off everything while I am walking. I forget to check and see if the girls are staying here and by the time I think about it, I am down to my boxer briefs as I find little wolf sleeping peacefully in her nest. I quietly climb over the edge and can tell she has been working on it. Probably hormonal changes.
"Thane..." her soft voice croaks out as I wrap her up in my arms and pull her toward me, taking a large inhale of her lavender scent and burying my face into her hair. I am torn between ravishing her and holding her. "Ssshhh....go back to sleep little wolf. We can talk in the morning. I just want to hold you right now and forget about the shit I have to deal with." "Why? What happened?" "Cyrus burnt down the heat clinic." I grit my teeth before letting out a sigh. I don't even know where to start with him. I feel a flicker of something in the bond. Excitement? Surely that isn't right. "Was anyone hurt?" she asks. "No, nobody was using it tonight, but that doesn't mean we won't need it soon." "Oh, yes you are right, but maybe..." she yawns, and I prop myself up on my forearm to look at her better. "Why were you even at the clinic today? You know what? No. I can't talk about the clinic right now without wanting to kill Cyrus." I lay back down and pull her close. "We can talk about it tomorrow." "Well, please don't be too hard on him. He doesn't have his mate, and his wolf is probably crazed right now, and he didn't hurt anyone." "He burnt down a building." "Yes, but...well....you're right. Let's talk about it tomorrow." Little wolf rolls over and nuzzles into my side and uses my arm as a pillow.
"I think Cyrus and Raven both have a history of making extreme decisions. I think it was partly why she was rejected, but I also think that to them, their decisions aren't extreme. I think they probably view the decisions of the shifters around them in certain situations as not enough compared to what they feel needs to be done. I also think they view their extreme decisions as normal justifications. They may just feel more than we do." "Or, they have anger issues." I reply, giving my take on the two of them. "Well, that is a given." she laughs, and I squeeze her tight. My little wolf, ever looking for the best in the few of us gifted with really knowing her.
A few minutes of bliss relaxing with little wolf in my arms and letting her scent calm me is enough to relax me and let sleep pull me under.
