Ayla

*Someone kicks my cage causing me to startle awake. “Come on, it's time for you to go.” “Where are we going?”*

*“Shut your stupid mouth bitch and do what you're told, or I'll put the shock collar back around your neck.”*

*“Please no, please don't make me go, please, I don't want to go. Please don't do this.”*

*“I said shut up.” He yells and gives me a back hand across the face as I’m yanked from the cage by my hair.*

*I'm dragged down the stairs and up the hallway. I know what's coming. The heat rooms. I start to cry, begging and pleading with anyone that can hear, pulling on his arm trying my best to get away, but it's useless. A second shifter grabs my legs, and I’m carried into the room. My wrists and ankles are strapped to the hard plastic bed. Fighting is pointless, but I try anyway. Hot tears are streaming down my cheeks as a shifter in a lab coat walks towards me holding a syringe. I'm injected into my arm as the room full of guards laugh. I don't know how much time goes by, but I'm overcome with heat.*

*My skin is on fire despite being naked, I'm burning up, and my skin itches. Cramping starts in my lower abdomen and a sudden gush of slick runs down my legs. My eyes are blurry from the tears, but I hear the door open and look over to see five alpha's walking into the room. “Please.” I beg. At this point I don't know if I’m begging for them to let me go or put me out of my misery. I feel so empty, and I need to be full. I don't want this, but I can't stop my body from reacting. It’s craving an alpha knot.*

*“Please, it hurts. It hurts.” I groan and moan shaking my head side to side. “We know it hurts, and we know what your little cunt needs. We are here to give it to you. “No please I don't want this.”*

I bolt awake in my bed gasping for breath. I'm sweaty all over and hyperventilating, shaking. I look around my room and realize I’m back in the heat clinic, in a hospital bed. The walls are plain white, and I am in a gown. I can't do this again. How did I get back here? They must have brought me back. I'm nauseated and I can feel bile creeping up my throat.

“Ssshh ssshh Ayla it's okay, it's okay. It's me, Thane. You were dreaming. It's just a nightmare, you're okay. You're safe. I Need you to slow down your breathing. In through your nose, out through your mouth. Again, in through your nose. Slower. Into your nose. Yes, good girl. That's a good girl. You're doing great. That's it, little wolf. Keep going. It was just a nightmare. You're safe, you're here. I won't let anything happen to you.”

I slow my breathing down letting the pine and earthy smell calm me. He's here and they didn't send me back. He's holding my upper arms as I hold his forearms, staring into deep green eyes and watching him breathe while trying to regulate my own breathing. It was just a horrible nightmare.

“What was your nightmare about Little Wolf? I promise you can tell me.” I look at the table with the pad of paper and then I turn my head and look back at him. I slowly grab the pad of paper and pen. I write “heat clinic” and turn it towards him to read. His eyes widened and flash gold, his wolf surging, but he quickly covers it up with blinking and they return to green. He's frowning, but he's also scowling. It looks like he is having difficulty controlling his emotions.

“You will never have to go back there again. That will never happen to you again. In fact, when we get your wolf back, you can go on suppressants and never have another heat ever again if that's what you want. It will be completely your decision, but nobody will ever take from you again.” He looks around the room and looks back at me.

“Does being in this room remind you of those Rooms?” I quickly nod my head “yes” at him. He takes a deep breath and slowly lets it out.

“I know it's late right now, but I can talk to Eric in the morning and see if I can get you discharged to the packhouse. It's a large building with several floors. However, I keep the rooms around mine empty for special guests. I know there is one open a few doors down from mine. We could have you transferred there, and you can stay in the room with meals brought up, for as long as you like. There is no rush to interact with anybody or leave your room. We move at your pace. It would also make it easier for me to talk to you and ask you some questions that we need to get to the bottom of regarding the trafficking ring that had you. You can hopefully help me wipe them out.”

I listen to him and realize he is still holding my arms, and I am still holding his. I look down at my hands around his forearms and back up to him. Slowly, I pull my arms back to myself. I don't want to overstep. He's technically not my alpha but maybe he could be? I need to be respectful, but I'm not going to lie, his comforting touch felt so good.

“Would you like that?” he asks, and I nod my head “yes.” He gives me a large, dimpled grin and I blush, quickly lowering my head. His smile could melt ice. He chuckles and tells me he'll be right back, stepping out of the room. I'm left to my racing thoughts about everything he just said. I'm not sure how I could be helpful to them when it comes to wiping out the monsters that abducted me and countless others, but the fact that he wants to feel amazing. I've spent the last 10 years without a single wolf loving me or standing up for me in any way, or protecting me in any way, and what he's offering sounds too good to be true.

I'm not sure how I can trust it. I think I might want to try. He reenters my room and walks over to my bed, pulling the covers up to my shoulders. I instinctively lean back to lay down on my pillow.

“I talked Eric into letting you out of here tomorrow morning, but we must come back for exams and lab work to make sure the poison is leaving your system, among other things. You just lay down and try to go back to sleep. I will stay until you fall asleep. Eric has assured me that he will send someone every hour to peek in on you.” He walks over to the uncomfortable looking sitting chair, sits and watches me.

Thane really is going to stay and make sure I fall asleep, and he's asked for nothing in return. I just stare at him wondering how that's possible and if all of this is true or if I’m in just some kind of drug-induced dream I never want to wake up from.

“Go to Sleep little wolf, close your eyes, it'll be alright.” I quickly close them as I was told. At some point in the night. I slightly arouse when I feel my hair sliding behind my ear, but I quickly return to sleep.
