"Shield!" Thane yells and I threw my shield up for the 100th time today. "Very good little wolf. The goal is for you to throw up your shield without being told. We need to sharpen your senses so that you can throw your shield up when you hear the threat, not when you see it. By the time you see it, it could be too late." Thane explains from the kitchen. "Using my shield repeatedly is more tiring than holding a shield like I did when you were poisoned." The constant use of my shield in short bursts is wearing me out. "I think the more we use your gift the easier it will get for you. Think of it as building your stamina." I yawn as Thane smiles at me, juggling marshmallows before chucking another at me. I throw out my shield and it bounces off into the house like the rest of them. "You know the shield is bullet proof. You don't have to use marshmallows Thane." "I know but I can't stomach the idea of throwing anything else at you and when I picked up anything bigger, I couldn't think past Ronan growling in my head." "Well, I appreciate him looking out for his mate. I think we need to run soon. Our wolves need to spend time together." "No. Not happening. I don't think you are supposed to shift pregnant." Thane reminds me and I completely forgot about it. "Maybe I need to research more on it. I learned all kinds of things when I was at the library. There could be something there about it."

I get up and start picking marshmallows off the floor. "You may have learned a lot, but you didn't learn anything about being a pregnant she-wolf with powers. I think the answers we need are probably in your old pack. That is why we are heading to the pack house now. I have some photos I need you to look at. Be ready in ten minutes." Thane comes over to me and bends down, kissing me on the lips causing me to groan and arch into him. Thane laughs against my lips. "Again, little wolf?" Thane rubs my back while holding me close to him. "I can't help it. I think it's all the hormones running wild." "I am not complaining. I like your new appetite as long as I am the one you are craving." He kisses me again and smacks my butt as I am turning away to head up the stairs. I let out a little yelp as he walks around picking up more marshmallows.

A few minutes later we are heading to the packhouse. Thane parks and helps me out of the car. "Do I get another driving lesson? This car goes pretty fast, and I want to try it out." I cup my hands together, attempting to make my best begging face. "Absolutely not. This thing is my baby. Well, it was my baby. Anyway...I don't think your driving is good for the pup." I scoff as Thane takes my hand to lead me into the pack house. A loud crack and shatter hit the air, and I threw out my shield on instinct just in time for something to crash into it and fly off. Thane is scanning the area, frantically looking around for a threat as I look around hoping no shifters were present to see what I did. I know we must tell the pack about my giftings at some point, but I don't have peace with it yet. I look up and see a large hole in a window and shattered glass in the parking lot. Thane walks over and picks up a canned food item from the parking lot and we both look up to see Cyrus standing in front of the broken window.

"Shit. Our bad. My fireball is a little testy right now." He yells down to us before turning and leaving the window and within seconds another can flies through the window and shattering what was left of it. "Did canned food just fly through the glass window?" I ask in disbelief. "Yes. I am going to wager that it was thrown at his head. Anyway, nice shield little wolf. You heard the crack and acted. I'm proud of you." Thane takes my hand and hands me the food items as we walk into the packhouse and take the elevator up. We bypass his office though and head to a new to me room. "This is the war room. I spend a lot of time here planning the raids and trying to figure out where Mikhail is hiding. I want you to look at some maps and aerial photos and see if anything looks familiar." Thane explains while kissing my knuckles. The little action does a lot to calm my nerves. When I hear my father's name, my first instinct is to throw up. I used to daydream about my family and the memories we had together. Now I can't because his face always ruins the memories.

"What is all of this?"I ask, walking up to a wall covered in photos and notes. There are a few post-it notes scattered throughout and a giant map with circles and lines all over. "This is all the work we have put together on the ring. Every location we have raided in the last several years, a list of victims and ages to help with searching for patterns and new photos of places we think the ring could be operating." He says, sighing as he stands with his arms crossed over his chest, staring at things he has probably spent hours upon hours looking at. "It is all so neat and organized. This must have taken forever." I walked around, looking closer at the notes and photos. Sure enough, I find myself listed and the details about my rescue written next to my name. It makes me want to vomit and I can feel the fear I once lived with 24/7 trying to dig its way out of the pit I smothered it in deep within myself. "The organization is all Damon. He takes organized to a whole new level. His superpower is being neat and organized. If one of these post-its were out of place he would probably make a new one which would turn into redoing the entire wall. Another reason I don't allow anyone in here uninvited. If we lost any of this or the wrong shifter saw it, we could be screwed. We have all our informants on here, intel etc. It wouldn't be good."

"Wait a minute....this tree here." I say as I step closer, trying to dig deep within my memories. "What is it? Does it look familiar?" Thane comes and stands next to me, staring at the photo with me. "I don't know...maybe. It reminds me of something but it's just out of reach. Like I know it or something like it. Something I have long forgotten."
