“But I am not going to wallow, and I am not going to curse the fates because it won’t do any good anyway and I don’t care. I don’t care that I wasn’t chosen first. You aren’t broken Raven.” Fireball starts sobbing and brings her hand up and covers her mouth with the back of it, tears are falling freely as she tilts her head back attempting to avoid eye contact with me.

“There isn’t anything wrong with you. Bad shit happened to you, but you got out. I GOT YOU OUT AND I WOULD DO IT AGAIN OVER AND OVER AGAIN. FUCK WHO DID THIS TO YOU AND WHEN YOU’RE READY I WILL BRING YOU THE HEAD OF THE ALPHA WHO SOLD YOU AND THE HEAD OF THE ONE THAT REJECTED YOU!” I raise my voice as I attempt to rein in my emotions and control my wolf.

I take a step towards her; this time she doesn’t back up. “There is nothing wrong with you Raven. I love every piece of you.” Fireball sobs hard and falls to her knees on the floor. All the emotions she has been holding in since her rejection come flooding out.

Raven throws her head back and cries out, the sound guttural and full of pain. She is no doubt watching the entire event in her head replay as a bad movie. Every face she loved staring at her as she broke.

I drop down to my knees in front of her and pull her toward me. I wrap my arms around her shoulders and back and hold her as she buries her face into my chest and cries. Her back shakes with every sob, every scream. Artemis howls in pain within my mental barrier, hurting for his mate.

I feel tears slide down my own cheeks. I try to stay quiet and calm not because I am embarrassed that I am crying, but to not interrupt Raven during this emotional movement. It’s important and necessary for her to move forward. The pain my mate is feeling, however, hurts me as well. It’s hard to see her hurting so badly. I’m going to kill them both.

Time goes on and she starts to settle down. I hear her sniffles and feel her wiping her nose. She pulls her head off my chest and looks up at me warily while rubbing her nose over the back of her sleeve.

“You were crying?” she asks in a whisper.

“It hurts to watch you hurt.” I whisper back, my hands now on her hips.

“I’m sorry I got snot all over your shirt.” She wipes her nose again.

“My fault for not taking it off as soon as I got in the doorway. I am home, remember?” ?” She laughs a little to herself, shaking her head before looking at me, eyes darting back and forth searching mine for something.

“What pack are you from Raven?” I ask hoping that she will trust me enough now that I have helped her through this to tell me.

"If I tell you, will you drop it and leave it alone?" Fireball asks me quietly.

"Sure." I know damn well I am going to kill them both whether I get permission to or not.

"My alpha is Alpha Stevens." she whispers, and my eyes fly open wide. Alpha Stevens is your alpha? We just had a meeting with him! An alliance meeting to stop the shifter ring. He knows everything. We told him everything." I stutter in shock and start to mind-link Thane.

*"Alpha Stevens. Raven's from there. He's the one who sold her. His son that is soon to inherit the title is her rejected mate. He knows everything we know." "Fuck. Emergency meeting in the war room ASAP"*

*"Raven's having a breakdown. Or breakthrough however you want to look at it."*

*"Keep me posted."*

"Are you mind-linking?" Raven leans back and asks. "Yes. I told Thane. Stevens knows everything we do about Mikhail. That means Mikhail knows who we are." I explain. "Who is Mikhail?" Fireball asks as she scoots further away from me. Damn it. She wasn't supposed to know that part of things yet.

"Mikhail is the leader of the trafficking ring. He oversees the entire operation. He also happens to be Ayla's father." Fireball jumps up from the floor and away from me like she was just burnt.

"What? Her father? You knew this and didn't tell me?" she held her hands to her temples, starting to pace the floor.

"I had orders not to." I explain and it is the truth. She knows enough that I had no choice.

"Is that what this is all about? This suspension...this right here?" She motions her hands around and then waves them in between us.

"I don't know what you are talking about? All about what?"

"This...being with me all the time. Being here with me now. That was an act. All of it. You needed information from me. That's why you mind-linked Thane. He made you into a spy this whole time.....Just to get information." she paces back and forth, running her fingers into her hair.

"What are you talking about? What act? There is no act. Do I look like an actor? That I am acting? Yes, we needed to know where you came from to narrow our search down, but that was it. I didn't do anything different. I didn't act differently. You are my mate. I want you as my mate. I always have."

"No. You used me. You used me to get information. You said you would drop it. If I gave you a name, but you lied." "Why would I drop it?" After what he did to my mate, he is going to pay for it. On top of it, he is working with the ring. Any shifter in his pack working with him will pay. The ring is going down one way or another." I stood up, backing back against the door.

"You need information from me to take the ring down and you didn't ask. You didn't explain it to me. What you needed to know and why you needed it know it. You didn't give me the chance. You just assumed I wouldn’t, and you tricked me to get the information you needed. I can't believe I fell for it."

"There was nothing to fall for. I didn't trick you. Every day I have spent with you since I rescued you, I have wanted to spend with you. Nobody forced me to be with you. I was not a spy. Yes, I needed information, but I didn't trick you to get it, you trusted me with it as you should. The ring must be stopped and if Alpha Stevens is involved then he needs to go down with it. So, you can tell me not to kill him for selling you, but you can't tell me not to kill him for his involvement in the ring, and you know it. "
