"I told you to work on your mating bond Cyrus, not start a bar fight. I don't know how those two things happened in the same day." I sigh, rubbing my temples. It is too early for this shit, and I don't even understand what the shit is yet.

"In my defense, I didn't start it." He holds his hands up in front of him.

"I don't care that you did or didn't start it. What I care about is the fact that the eldest member of the pack is having a hissy fit because his twin great, great grandaughters were supposedly assaulted last night. Do you understand how this is about to spiral out of control?" I ask, staring at the two across from me, they both have looks of indifference.

"Tell Martin to mind his own business. Nothing happened."

"Nothing happened? He said Sandy's nose was broken Cyrus."

"It's Mandy or it was Mindy. I can't tell them apart." he shrugs.

"You can't tell them apart, but you have spent how many nights screwing them both?" My head turns to the once quiet Raven who appears to be less than thrilled with this entire thing. Same here.

"Is that what this whole thing is about? You got mad at the girls for their history with Cyrus, so you broke their noses?"

"I only broke one nose before I was pulled out of there." She snarks off which causes me to turn to Cyrus and arch my eyebrow.

"That's not helping boo boo." he informs her, earning him an instant icy scowl.

"Don't call me that."

"I'm your mate, I will call you whatever I want."

He's playing with fire. Or fireball for that matter and it doesn't appear wise.

"Keep doing it and you won't be breathing too much longer." Raven folds her arms over her chest, turning away from Cyrus, attempting to end the conversation.

"Is that a threat fireball? You want to take some of your anger out on me?" Raven turns to face Cyrus and the amusement on his face does not reflect what is on hers. Oh no. Her features read 'murder.'

"You know what I'm going to do to you? I'm going to.."

"Enough!" I yell out, shutting this conversation down and pushing some of my aura into the room, causing Raven's eyes to go wide as she starts to realize that there is much more power hiding under my surface. I may let my inner circle push their limits, but I also know that they would do anything for this pack, and I tend to be more lenient on them. She on the other hand, I don't know and that needs to change.

"Look, my mate got a little feisty when Candy attempted to touch me. She had it coming. No harm, no foul." Cyrus tries to brush it off while Raven sits studying me.

"No foul? She's been banned from Larry's." I point toward Raven but holding Cyrus' eye contact. I put this blame squarely on his shoulders. I have been telling him for years that his behavior was going to catch up to him.

"Oh no. Whatever will I do?" Raven mocks while shaking her hands in the air. Now I whip my head to Raven. My surrogate pack member. If she wasn't Cyrus' mate, she wouldn't be here. It may be time to remind her of that but before I can, Cyrus speaks up.

"IF my ravishing mate wasn't breaking noses, I would have. She shouldn't have touched me. Now you will have to excuse us, your excellence. We have a long day of training and protocols Since Raven is Ayla's bodyguard." Cyrus informs me and now I am very confused.

"Bodyguard? I didn't approve of that." I state, waiting for an explanation.

"Ayla appointed fireball as her bodyguard and introduced her as such." I turned to Raven and ask, "She did?" At the same time Raven turns to Cyrus and asks, "I am?"

"Yes, so you will have to talk to your little wolf about that. Come on Raven, we got to go." Cyrus grabs her hand and before I can mind-link little wolf, they are both up and out of the office. Shocker.

I decided to cut my day short. Little wolf should be expecting me for our training today. Training and experimenting, but safely. I am also probably two minutes away from cancelling the training since it is so easy for my thoughts to go to worst case scenario when thinking about the safety of little wolf and our pup. I spend the drive home thinking about how to best go about all of this. Little wolf stands waiting for me on the porch. Her white hair blends in with the snow on the mountains behind her. She looks stunning. Her teal eyes are a homing beacon. She wears a sweater and jeans, but she might as well be naked. I can't take my eyes off her.

"How was your meeting?" She asks as I take the steps up toward her.

"Uneventful and surprisingly informative at the same time. Cyrus was able to escape punishment....for now. Did you hire Raven as your bodyguard?" I ask and she immediately looks down. I hate that she does, and I hate that she doubts herself. I grasp her chin and pull her gaze back up to me and send as much peace as I can down the mating bond.

"I introduced her as my bodyguard at the first meeting for the heat clinic planning and well...it got easier with each meeting, and she didn't mind. I thought it might help her want to stay here as well."

"You don't have to explain your decision to me, little wolf, and I also agree with you. From what I have seen of her fighting when we found her, I have no doubt that she can handle herself and Cyrus is our best fighter. If Cyrus says she can keep you safe, that is all I need to hear. If you want her as your bodyguard, then she is. I think Monica should have a job too, but we can talk about that later. Come on, we have training to do." I pull her in and place a kiss on her head.

I lead little wolf behind the house. The weather is mild for winter, and we have plenty of light. "Stand here. I am going to go across the yard over there around sixty feet away. You stay here and focus relaxing and find that thread as you call it." I kiss her on the cheek and make my way across the back yard. I turn back to little wolf and cup my hands around my mouth so my voice will echo. "I want to see how far you can shield."
