Omega Bound Chapter 118

Ayla

I had a miserable night sleep. I opted to sleep in the nest because it made me feel safer and I was more comfortable, but I could feel Thane's feelings through the bond that matched most of mine and that amplified them by one thousand. We are simply homesick for each other.

We spent a great deal of time mind-linking. So far, it is still working. Thane is not sure how far the mind-link will work when we are apart. He is hoping it will work farther apart due to the bloodlines we both hail from.

So far, so good.

Raven accepted my invitation to stay with me while Cyrus is away. It was not easy for her to accept. It also was not easy for me to give. There is this weird awkwardness around us. I think it is partly because we both know the evil to which each other was subjected.

Whether it was the same, or different, evil is evil, and it is comparable to walking on eggshells around each other. Each other clearly afraid to break the ice regarding the trauma we faced. I also think part of the awkwardness stems from me knowing that my father is more than likely involved with her abduction.

I hate it, and I do not want her to be upset with me about it. She gave me no indication that she knew this piece of information. I wonder how much I should tell her. Especially since she has her own world of chaos going on.

I sneak downstairs quietly and start to cook breakfast. I whip up waffles, eggs, and bacon. I am proud of my domestic skills that are forming. Now, I just need some Luna skills to form. Not that I know where to start.

My mother was Luna, but I have no idea what she oversaw. I frown and stare off, going through memories in my head, before I am jolted out of them by a tall Raven waving a hand in front of my face.

"Earth to Ayla, hello, are you there?" I must have been staring off longer than I thought.

"Yes, sorry. I made breakfast. Sit down and we can eat. I forewarn you; I just started experimenting with cooking. I can bake though! So, eat it at your own risk." I explain. Hoping I do not scare her off. I feel more pressure for her to like me. She is Cyrus' mate, and we will have a long-lasting relationship with each other.

I want us to be friends, close like family.

She pulls out a chair and I sit next to her on the island. We both fill our plates and start eating. It is quiet for a while, and I decided to break the ice.

"Thank you for staying here last night. I know Thane appreciated it quite a bit and I do too, having someone around." she nods, but says nothing. I take a deep breath and start eating more food. A few minutes go by before she finally feels comfortable talking.

"What's your story?" she asks, and I must decide quickly what I want to tell her and what I would like to keep concealed.

"Well, a few months ago, Thane and Cyrus rescued me from a trafficking ring. I was kidnapped ten years ago and forced to do horrible things, but Thane found me and turns out he was my mate and here we are."

"How did he know about the rings?" she asks me, this time looking in my direction, hopefully getting more comfortable.

"His...his um sister was taken when she was a teenager. We were friends for a while until...well..." I clear my throat and fight against the sting in my eyes. "They kill them when they deem them of no use anymore."

"Wow. That's pretty heavy." We both are no longer eating now.

"Yeah, Thane has made it his mission to take down the ring. Him and Cyrus and the crew have gone on two raids since I have been here and saved kidnapped shifters. They are really committed to taking the ring down and saving as many as they can." I try to talk Cyrus up as much as I can, which does not go unnoticed by her judging by her smirk, but she isn't telling me to stop either.

"The whole rescue is still hard for me to wrap my head around. Even helping in one. There was so much going on. Cyrus blew up the door to the dungeon I was in, knocking my attacker off me. I will forever be grateful for that." I take the silence that follows as the opportunity to shovel more breakfast into my mouth. I did not realize how hungry I was. I will blame it on growing a pup.

"And you?" He followed your scent to find you. I am grateful for that as well.' I wink at her, and she rolls her eyes.

"Yes, I am happy to have my muzzle off." she says nonchalantly while eating more bacon.

"Do you want to talk about it? I was kept in a kennel. You were kept in a muzzle and chains. I would be lying if I said I wasn't curious." I ask nervously, hoping to not freak her out or make her feel like she has to answer because she is in my home. She shrugs her shoulders, holding a fork up to her mouth.

"I bit a shifters dick off." and takes another bite. I, however, spit my orange juice across the kitchen before coughing on the little bit I inhaled. That was unexpected. I laugh cough to myself as she hits me on the back repeatedly.

"Sorry, I didn't expect that. I hope you bit multiple off." I trail off coughing some more, feeling a pull on the bond, Thane no doubt sensing my coughing panic.

"I did." she laughs, and I do the same.

*“Everything alright little wolf?”*

*“Yes, I was choking on my orange juice.”*

*“Why? Are you all right?”*

*“Yes. Raven was explaining to me the reason for her muzzle.”*

*“I assume she attacked several of them.”*

*“Well, if by attacking you mean biting dicks off, then yes.”*

*“Of course she did. She is mated to Cyrus. Oh, I cannot wait.”*

We wrap up our mind-link chat and Raven and I finish breakfast, and she helps me clean up the kitchen which I appreciate. She is tall enough to reach the high up cupboards, and I can do the lower without her having to bend down. Win-win.

"So, if you are mated to Thane, that makes you the Luna of this pack. How do you like that? Coming from what happened to that role."

"Actually, I haven't assumed any role yet. Thane has been running this pack solo for a long time, and I have been baking in the kitchens, which I enjoy. It is calming. I was thinking though that I should start exploring what the old Luna used to do in the pack, but that was Thane's mother, and his parents are gone. It isn't easy conversations to have."
