Omega Bound Chapter 120
Thane
It is hard sitting at this conference table with my phone buzzing incessantly in my pocket. It's even harder to sit there in front of four fellow Alphas when you are watching your phone screen in complete shock because the motion detection alarm going off in your office shows your sweet, innocent little mate walking around your office. I can barely pull my eyes away from the screen. I have been gone a day, but it feels like an eternity as I watch Little Wolf rummaging through books on the shelf. Raven sits on the couch flipping through a photo album. I tilt my head toward the door, motioning for Cyrus to follow me out into the hall. "One moment. Cyrus and I need to step out quick." I mind-link Damon that everything is okay, before we step into the hall.
"What's going on?" he asks, and I flip my phone toward him. "Ahhh, the girls are having a little bonding time. Good for them. What's the big deal?" he asks as he studies his mate on the phone screen, smirking.
"The deal is, I didn't give Ayla an office key."
"You didn't give your mate a key to your office? Dick move. I thought she had all of you, Thane."
"Will you shut the hell up. They got in there somehow."
"Wait, are you insinuating that my sweet, innocent, fated mate broke into your office?"
"That is exactly what I am insinuating." I look, stone faced. How could the fates possible decide to curse me with two of them.
"Well, you can't prove a thing, and even if you could, she didn't do it. She was framed." I roll my eyes at him and take my phone back as we stupid, love-struck fools watch our women pretty much do nothing on the security camera.
"How do you think they got to the pack house? Hmmm? You think they just hoofed it?" I asked, puzzling more pieces together and growing more irritated. "Maybe they shifted." he suggests.
"No, I don't think Ayla would risk the pack seeing her wolf and I will not allow her to shift pregnant."
"So what? They drove. Who cares?"
"I care Cyrus. I left the Ducati and my baby at home. You think these two rode the bike into town?"
"Oh...You're pissy because my girl stole your car, not that she broke into your office."
"I thought she wasn't guilty of that."
"She isn't. You can't prove any of it and even if you could, nobody would believe you." I stare at him dumb founded.
"Everyone would believe me Cyrus. She is your mate."
"Good point. So, she stole your car and broke into your office. The girls got bored. Who cares. It's our fault for leaving them."
"Our fault your mate stole my car and broke into my office?"
"Well yeah. Did you tell her she couldn't drive your car? I didn't hear you."
"It's my car!" I gesture inwardly to myself. "Actually, you are mated now buddy. So that thing is pretty much Ayla's anyway. She gave my baby permission to drive it. No harm, no foul."
"You have an answer for everything don't you." He claps me on the shoulder and heads back to the conference room.
"Don't worry. I got it. She's being naughty. I will punish her when I get back. Don't worry about a thing." he winks at me and I feel dirty.
"Please don't tell me about it. I don't want to know any part of it. Keep it all to yourself...please." I suppress a shiver as I head back into the conference room.
"Sorry everyone. Minor difficulty. We're ready." I apologize as we head back into the conference room.
"My mate stole his car."
"Yes, thank you Cyrus for clearing that up. His mate stole my car. Now, where were we?" Around the table sits us, Alpha Clarke's, Alpha Greene, Alpha Sonne, and Alpha Stevens. We jokey back and forth provisions we will want in the accord if we work together, responsibilities, future trading etc. All bullshit really.
"Gentleman, I can be here all week hashing out agreement after agreement. Truthfully, I don't give a shit about trade lines between packs and resources. I just want an alliance of strength to take down the trafficking ring and the combination of resources to do it. We need an agreement in regard to not turning on each other, working together, and what happens if those provisions are broken. I don't need the rest. That can come later." I point toward the table, getting a little heated and frustrated.
"Yes, you say that, but why would we commit anything to helping you? This ring hasn't bothered us, and we have no missing shifters. Why should we bother risking our own?" Alpha Stevens pipes up and instantly earns himself a spot on our shitlist. Noted.
"Yet. They haven't bothered you yet. More than likely as this thing grows it will."
"Are you a mind reader now? Is that one of your Alpha of Alphas giftings we aren't aware of? You forget that we know you refuse to sit in your authority, that fact I personally am relieved by, but how can we take you seriously when you hide from such duties you clearly aren't worthy of?" That earns him growls from my men, but I hold my hand up, attempting to gain control of this meeting.
"I do not need reminding about any duties I have. In fact, now that I am mated, I plan on taking over the roll as soon as I can, but taking this ring down is my priority first." Audible gasps can be heard around the table as I let everyone know my plan. Including my own team. "Now I ask, why are you so adamant about not helping? Is it jealousy of my title? Or maybe it is something worse?"
"I am not jealous, and I have no idea what you are talking about." he shifts in his seat as I study him.
"Well, you are either against the mass kidnapping of shifters, mostly children I might add, or you are for it. From where I sit, you aren't opposed to it if you have no intentions of helping."
"You are out of your mind." he scoffs.
"Am I? Let me give you a reminder and some new facts as you contemplate your agreeability. My sister was abducted as a teen pup, abused by multiple men and murdered. Cyrus actually found his mate on the last raid we had." I glance over to him to see him smiling ear to ear, reliving the moments with her, I am sure.
"He doesn't smell mated." Stevens says with a grumble.
"It's complicated. Traumatic kidnapping, bit off a bunch of dicks. Trust issues my man." Alpha Greene chokes on his coffee as the multitude of odd and shocked looks start.
"Lastly, I rescued my fated mate by PULLING HER OUT OF A FUCKING KENNEL SHE WAS KEPT IN FOR TEN YEARS WHILE BEING SUBJECTED TO FALSE HEATS!" I yell and slam my fist on the table.
