Omega Bound Chapter 8

Thane

Under the damn bed. My heart aches for the little Omega. To be rescued from a cage, only to feel safer hiding underneath a bed is terrible. The revelation she has no family left is a gut-wrenching pain I'm all too familiar with. Quick flashbacks of my own family begin to flood my mind. My little sister, vibrant and full of life. A strong father that would do anything for his pack. My mother, a beautiful luna with grace and elegance unsurpassed. I live in a constant state of anger, grief, and on some days, denial. I quickly enter my office and settle at my mahogany desk. The mountain of paperwork I need to get through is piling up, but I can't bring myself to care right now. Running my hands through my hair, I start reviewing documents and signing off on permits for new builds and businesses, when there is a knock on my door.

The smell of lemons wafting in from the hall. Before I can answer, Della saunters in with her breast on full display in her baby blue tank top. Her ass is barely covered in her shorts. I made the mistake of commenting about one of her blue shirts once, and now it seems the color is all she wears. I cannot get a break today. Any other day I would be aroused, but right now I can't find it in myself to even care.

"Hey Thane. I know you’re probably busy, but I brought some food from the mess hall for you. I thought we could eat supper together."

"Thank you, Della. That is really kind of you, but I've got a mountain of paperwork to catch up on and some debriefing to do. I wouldn't be much entertainment for you at the moment." I give her a quick smile and continue with my paperwork while attempting to be diplomatic and non-confrontational.

"Oh, have you not been here working?" She asks with her eyebrows raised in shock like my whereabouts should be any of her concern.

"No, I was down at the clinic again. Ayla was missing, but it was a giant miscommunication of sorts. She's doing well and is still here, just a little hiccup."

'Oh, good…. good. That's great. The poor thing is probably so frightened and, in a hurry, to get back to her own pack."

"Actually, I'm not sure. She told me she doesn't have family. She may choose to stay here. We haven't discussed it yet. There's a lot to talk about with her."

"Maybe I can talk with her, find out about her family for you? She may take to talking to me better since I am a female."

"No, I don't want anyone else around her right now. I plan on settling her in slowly. She has been through a lot and being around others could send her into a panic. Also, Ayla can't talk or won't. She is mute and is currently writing everything down. She trusts me, at least a little, and I will be the one spending time with her for now. Thank you for your offer though, Della. I will let you know if I need your help." I reply to her somewhat sternly. The thought of anyone with Ayla currently angers me. I can feel Ronan getting agitated. He has never really paid much attention to my so-called "relationship" with Della. He usually shows disinterest, reverting into the recesses of my mind. Even when we go on a run as a pack, if she's close, he really pays her no favoritism in any way. Her current persistence, however, is getting on his nerves as I feel ripples of annoyance against my mental barrier.

She walks over and slides down to the leather chair in front of my desk and starts unpacking food. When she drops a napkin Della stands up and bends over in front of my desk to pick it up, showing me quite a bit of ass cheek causing me to roll my eyes. I don't know why she isn't registering that I need to be alone now, but I also can't bring myself to throw her out either. We are friends and I do care for her. I have always been upfront with her about our friendship with benefits. We have known each other since we were younger pups and up to this point, really hasn't caused me too many problems. Yeah, there used to be the issue of her cockblocking me with other shifter females, but it became more than a hassle trying to deal with her and them, that I stopped pursuing other hook ups.

"Della...I'm really sorry, but I can't give you what you're looking for tonight. I need to get caught up here and I appreciate the thoughtfulness, but I just can't. I am tired and not interested tonight. I'm sorry."

"Does this have something to do with the omega you keep bringing up? Is she your mate?"

"This has nothing to do with Ayla. I'm an alpha with a lot of responsibility and another raid to plan and I am behind on my work. It is my job as an alpha to take care of my pack and while she's here, that includes her. To answer your question...no. She isn't my mate. If she was, this conversation, it wouldn't happen. You wouldn't be here with me. You know that." I gruff out with anger clearly on my face. Bringing Ayla into this conversation makes no sense to me. She quickly stands up and walks around my desk, getting on her knees, grabbing my crotch, looking up at me with her big brown eyes, her black hair falling around and accentuating her breasts.

"Please, I just want to make you feel good" she whispers as she strokes outside of my jeans up and down attempting to arouse me. I groan and cover my brow with one hand; as I find myself facing a once easy, but now difficult decision. I'm not sure why I can’t bring myself to accept her offer. I blame the paperwork and alpha duties, but I find myself wondering if that's the real reason.

“I’m sorry Della, I can’t tonight.” I say with much exasperation attempting to pry her hands off my dick. With that she jerks herself up scowling, but then quickly covers it up and smiles big instead.

“Fine, that’s fine Thane. I will be by tomorrow and maybe we can do lunch then.” Before I can reply, she quickly turns and heads for the door. Damn it. Tomorrow's problem.
