Of course he won't let it go. Cyrus is intelligent and he knows me not exploding on him for this would be out of character.

"What did Ayla say about the heat clinic Thane?" ugh. This intelligent dumb ass.

"I don't know what you are looking for me to say Cyrus. She didn't like it. Okay? That doesn't give you license to blow it up."

"Wait a minute....wait a minute....back that train up. Hold up. Did I......Did I do you a favor Thane?" I scoff, but in all fairness, he kind of did.

"You didn't do me or anyone in this pack a favor by blowing up the heat clinic. She is happy it is gone, but that doesn't excuse your actions." He holds a hand up like he is going to start arguing with me, but I do it first.

"Your punishment, as we are trying to get to here, is that you are suspended."

"I am what?" he asked confused. Me too buddy. Never have I ever suspended him or anyone else I can think of. Suspend them from what? Work. That's called a vacation.

"You heard me. You are suspended. I don't want you working. No duties." I say plainly.

"I'm...suspended."

"Yes."

"Suspended."

"Yes."

"Suspended?"

"Yes. The word isn't going to change no matter how many times you say it. You are suspended. I want you with Raven figuring out your mate bond and her stance within this pack. The pack won't survive a war between you two."

"You are suspending me to be with my mate?"

"Yes." "Sweet fates alive I am the luckiest shifter on the planet." he says, his voice filled with bewilderment.

"Well hopefully she doesn't tear out your throat for burning the clinic down."

"Blowing that bitch up, but that's beside the point. She has forgiven me, I finally got to taste those sweet lips this morning. My little mate isn't a dainty princess, and I can't treat her as such anymore." His eyes drift off reliving whatever memory that just happened. Progress, I guess.

"Well, maybe you don't need a suspension if things are moving along between you two." I state.

"Oh no. You already said suspended a billion times. That is a ruling. A law. You can't go back on that. I'm suspended. I gotta go." he quickly jumps up from his seat and bolts out of my office, no doubt running back to his shared room with Raven. Hopefully, the next time I see him, he will be mated.

Straightening this heat clinic situation out will be a mess. I don't want to load Ayla with too much before she is ready and I don't know if anyone is ready for a complete hoverhaul of an ancient system. Building something new from the ground up. We would virtually be doing the same thing together if and when he change our roles and titles. It is all a lot of work, and the timing is terrible with little wolf pregnant.

I allow my mind to drift to the small changes I have noticed in little wolf since discovering she is carrying my pup. Her appetite for food has increased, but I have also noticed her more aroused at times as well. I am hopeful that will transition to more mating. I become hard just thinking about it. That isn't going to help me get anything done today.

A knock on my door has me scrambling to hide my erection under my desk. Damn.

"Come in." Damon strolls in and then I remember a flash of something Cyrus said about his car. Great. Another Cyrus headache.

"I take it this has something to do with the heat clinic blowing up?"

"I thought it burnt down?"

"No, it was blown up. That's beside the point. Are you here about your car?"

"Yeah, it was stolen. How did you know?"

"Cyrus. That's how I know."

"No."

"Yes." "Is he getting sick? From not mating or something?"

"No. He's just angry and unstable. I think he will calm down when they mate. Anyway, go down to the dealership. Get another, tell them to put it on my account." "Thanks Thane."

Damon gets up and leaves me alone to all my work and internal conflict. I have a pregnant mate, a traitor in our midst and a father-in-law to murder. Now, I have an immediate need within our pack with this clinic that needs to be remedied. All of this needs to happen without me ignoring my mate. I can't keep her safe swamped in work and I can't keep her safe until my work is complete. I am certain this is how breakdowns start.

I rub my face with my calloused hands like the movements with jar some decision within me. I glance over to the wall where I have my new map hung. Places marked with heilpads that have been confirmed, trying to narrow down Mikhails wherebouts. Did he know about little wolf's involvement with this. Is he looking for her? I would be. If I was corrupt. She would be a weapon or bartering chip.

The thought of her as a weapon has my mind drifting back to when we rescued Raven and she referred to herself as a weapon. Does she know more than we do? She was within there. Not caged. Maybe she heard talk. Maybe there is more to this weapon thing than we realize. Is Raven a weapon in the sense of her training or is she a weapon in the sense she is fates gifted? She would have to come from a powerful family to be friends with the alpha's son and around his mother, the luna quite often. It may be time to open our case into uncovering Raven first. Her alpha mate was able to sell her into the trade. Therefore, he knew of the trade. Probably something Raven is having difficulty wrapping her head around. Especially if she didn't think there was corruption in the alpha family. Finding Ravens family may be the key to narrowing down this ring plus I think the proximities would be close together. Raven is from up north somewhere. Time to find out where.
