I spent much of the night rutting Little Wolf in various areas of the house. Not once did we mention the change between us.

The bond deepening.

The pup growing within her.

As our norm, we acted on our impulses with each other and decided we would deal with figuring it out later.

Ayla is curled up, half on me, half on the bed. Her mouth is partly open with wisps of hair across her nose. I slide my body out from under her and tuck her back in, removing the hair from her face. I take a few seconds to linger, not wanting to pry myself away from her to go make her a big breakfast. I kept her awake too long and she was spent. She needs to build up her energy again and feed our pup.

If I think about her carrying my pup again, I won't make it down to cook breakfast. I groan, pulling away from her and heading to the kitchen.

Little Wolf is still asleep when I return with a breakfast feast for us. I place the plates down on the table before crawling into the bed and snuggling her again. She melts in my arms sighing as I feel her awakening through the bond.

"Good morning love. I made you some breakfast," I say as she yawns and stretches before turning to me and snuggling into my chest, placing soft kisses on my skin. Her lips are tender and leave faint buzzing feelings in the wake.

"You didn't have to do that. I should be cooking for you. I at least got to eat cake. You didn't get to eat anything." Ayla groans, untangling herself from my arms and pulling herself up in the bed.

"I did eat." I say with more husk in my voice than I intended. I want her to eat first. Ronan is very agitated that his mate hasn't eaten.

The bond pulses between us and I can feel her lust through it. I scent her arousal in the air. Damn it.

"I need to feed you Little Wolf and you need to eat. No more looking at me like that. Eat your pancakes." I nudge her plate toward her, and she huffs as she digs in, annihilating the pancakes in seconds. That is an appetite increase. "Don't forget your meat." I point my fork at it. I don't think I could get my wolf to calm down if she doesn't eat all her breakfast.

"You're being quite insistent today," she muses while I enjoy watching her stuff her mouth full. Too soon I see the memories of her when I first found her. Rail thin and battered. I try and stifle my feelings of despair from going through the bond. She turns to me and studies me for a minute. I almost think she felt the anguish I had for her when I found her in the bond, but instead she tucks in her bottom lip nervously.

"I have something to tell you.” Ayla whispers, and I can her trepidation through the bond. "I send calm reassurance through the bond, and she eases.

"I know Ayla." I tell her, grabbing her hand and holding it in mine. My heart is racing a mile a minute as I wait to hear how she feels about this news. I feel like I have been in this situation with her before.

"How did you know?" she asked, and I don't sense any feelings other than curiosity.

Good.

She isn't upset I didn't say anything to her.

"Yesterday morning, my wolf was acting strangely and your scent changed. It was confusing at first, but then I saw you straightening your nest and then everything clicked." I informed her, rubbing my thumb over her knuckles gently. I feel nervousness through the bond, but no fear.

"How do you feel about it?" she asks.

Before I can think I am blurting out "I am fucking ecstatic Little Wolf. A family is the life we wanted, that we deserved and we vowed to live it, and we are. I couldn't be happier" I say, cupping her face in my hands. "I want to know how you feel about it. I truly didn't think it would happen in your first heat." That is the truth, but I didn't consider our bloodlines. Of course, the chances would be stronger.

"I feel good. Scared not because of being a mother, simply scared of the entire process. I don't have anyone to talk to about being pregnant with a pup and changes that come with that. This is an instance where my mother is needed, and I don't have her. I am excited for us, to grow our family, but..." she trails off and I finish her sentence for her.

"It is hard to feel excited without feeling the sadness of losing your mother? Two opposite emotions competing to take control?"

"That is exactly how I feel. I am happy, sad, I guess. I know it will get through it," she whispers, and I feel her sadness through the bond. She is excited and it is supposed to be an exhilarating time for us, but it is hard to keep that excitement when the pain of loss is trying to take over.

"We will get through it Little Wolf. Together. You could always talk with Pack Clarke's Luna. You two like each other and I think she could be a good friend for you. They helped us out big time and didn't have to. I respect that." We both nod in agreement as we continue taking bites in between discussing this pregnancy news together.

"When or what do we tell the pack?" Ayla asks, and I can see a hint of fear in her eyes. The thoughts that tell her she can't be a Luna probably trying to creep in.

"We are going to keep this quiet for a while. The more time the better. When we can't hide it anymore, we can announce it and have a ceremony. As long as nobody knows that you are gifted, we have more time to keep you and the pup safe."

"Safe from what?" Little Wolf asks, and I can feel her fear through the bond. She squeezes my hand tighter, and I see that fear in her eyes. There's more at stake now.

"Safe from your father. Safe from any Alphas that find out our bloodlines bonded. Safe from anyone that knows of your gift. Once the wrong person finds out, we will need to be on high alert for safety concerns. Regardless, I won't let anything happen to you or my pup. You also have proven that you can manage yourself as a weapon. I expect you to use your gifting as a weapon if needed. Don't put yourself in danger trying to keep it a secret. If it is you or the secret, I choose you, every time. If you must run, run. If you need to use your shield, use it. Do whatever it takes. Don't give up. I will come for you. Do you understand?" I ask firmly.
