"I can't believe how fast you put that guy down." I say in shock leaving the office. "I can't believe you let him disrespect you. You are the Luna of this pack. His questioning was unnecessary." she huffs as we head into the elevator. Thane's bottle of jack tucked under her arm. I think she is trying to work through some emotions she doesn't look like she wants to talk about.

"He wanted to know why a stranger was chugging booze for breakfast in his Alpha's office, I don't know if that is entirely disrespectful?"

"Are you not his Luna? I was in the room with you. He had no right to question me in your presence. You better toughen up, so assholes don't try to walk all over you."

"I don't think Thane would let that happen."

"Well, you would most likely get your sweetness taken advantage of. What about when Thane is gone? Like today?"

"Well, I wouldn't have broken and loitered or whatever you called it. So, it wouldn't have happened. Plus, I have you. You can clearly manage whatever I can't. Besides don't let me fool you. When my wolf takes over, I am a murderous bitch." I try and fail to keep the memory of Della on my porch, her bloody heart in my hand from assaulting me as we leave the pack house. Apparently, it is too soon to make light of that situation, but what would she have done if she found out I was pregnant?

The thought causes me to shiver.

I don't think I want to know.

"Oh really? Do tell." she says before climbing in the passenger side of Thane's car. I stand next to the car, confused before climbing in the driver's side.

"I thought I told you I couldn't drive?"

"Oh, right. Well, let's just make someone drive us. You are the Luna. I am sure you have a driver or something."

"I don't have a driver, but maybe I can find one. Oh! I can call Monica. She was my first friend, maybe she isn't working today and could take us."

"Ugh. I don't know if I can do the whole, she-wolf day of bonding." she sighs and takes another drink.

"You are probably right. If you went shopping, Cyrus would probably hate it because he seems possessive and he wouldn't like the thought of you being unmated, running around town. Especially since you are so beautiful."

"You are laying it on real think Luna. Thick. Fine. Call her. You had me at pissing him off." I shake my head and laugh while pulling out my phone and calling Monica.

A few minutes later Monica comes by and picks us up. We get introductions out of the way, and I keep to myself that Cyrus is Ravens mate. Ultimately, I don't know what she is planning with her life, and I don't want to make it known that she is his mate. Worst case scenario, she rejects him. I don't want that out. She can choose to talk about it if she wants.

We make it town and settle down at a restaurant to eat and Raven continues to drink. Not the healthiest coping mechanism for sure, but I think her mate will need to handle this one. "So, I came to town for the she-wolf fest. I want some stories." Raven demands.

"Oooo she-wolf fest, I like the sound of that." Monica pipes up, her normally bubbly self which earns her a side eye from Raven. I clear my throat, attempting to redirect Raven's attention.

"What story would you like to hear?" I ask them.

"Your murderous bitch story." Oh yes. That one.

"You have a murderous bitch story?" Monica says in shock.

"She says she does." Raven answers and now I have two ladies waiting on me to spill it.

I take a deep breath before spilling my guts on something I try to keep buried. Also, that is probably a problem, but one to think about later. "Well, my mate had a female prior to me here that he grew up with...”

“Her name was Della; she was OBSESSED with Thane." Monica fills in.

"Ugh, I already don't like her." Raven offers solidarity. Yeah, me either.

"Anyway, Thane ended things when he rescued me. At the time we didn't know we were mates, but we were just drawn together."

"Their chemistry was off of the charts. Tension galore. Swoon." Monica says while holding her chest and while fanning her face.

"Wait, why didn't the mate bond snap into place when he rescued you?" Raven asks.

"I was poisoned for years with wolfsbane and disconnected from my wolf. Then I was too afraid to reconnect with her. That is another long story. Anyway, then my fated mate found me."

"Thane?" "No... he’s her real one; she's talking about her fake one." Monica interjects.

"Fake what? How do you have a fake mate?" Raven asks confused.

"Well, I had a fake mate because Della paid him to pretend to have a mate bond with me and I didn't know. Thane could sense I had a wolf, but it wasn't enough to sense the bond. Anyway, I had this fated mate that turned out to be a real jerk. He hit me and ran for the hills."

"Ooooo tell her about you two hooking up although you knew you were going to meet your mate." Monica says as she wiggles her eyebrows up and down at me.

"Fine. I knew I was going to meet my mate so Thane and I kind of had a few moments together."

"A FEW MOMENTS!? I only knew about one!" Monica exclaims.

"I know about none, now zip it. What is the murderous part?"

"Oh yes, well Thane's murderous part is that he killed my fake mate once the mate bond snapped into place. Well, he would have killed him anyway for putting hands on me. My murderous bitch moment was when Della showed up to my house after the mating ceremony."

"She didn't!" Monica gasps. Yeah, we didn't give the details as to who did what, but I guess I am just airing it out now.

"She was on my porch refusing to leave. She said horrible things about me and made it very clear that she would be trying to take my mate from me. My wolf got control, I snapped and shoved my hand through her chest and pulled out her heart." Monica's eyes go wide, and her mouth drops open.

"I didn't know the whole story."

"Yeah, I try not to think about it because I feel terrible and I have nightmares sometimes." I whisper more to myself than to them, I think.

"Piss on that. I knew there was a reason I liked you. Luna's a badass."

"She sure is." Monica and Raven clink glasses and suddenly I find myself smiling, thinking about the little life that has been created, despite the obstacles in such a brief time.

The food arrives and is placed in front of us. "I am getting mind-linked about you Raven. I think it is time to get you a phone."

"Why?"

"Well, I can't repeat out loud the things I was told to ask you." I caught just a hint of a smile appear.
