Thane

I stand in what we call the "war room" staring at maps on the wall, attempting to keep my rage at bay so it doesn't trickle down the bond to my mate. Too many fires to put out. Too many variables. We are spread too thin and up against too many situations. More than the pack is at stake from the internal threat I have no leads on, now I have a family to protect. I have no idea where Mikhail is, and the answer could lie within the space between Raven's ears. All I need is Cyrus to get the information from his mate and we can start checking off threats, but here I am staring at the map like a giant red X will appear and solve all of my problems. It doesn't. It won't.

I want time with my mate. To talk with her about our pup, future plans. I want her to have a future and I can't have that with her father.....ex father.....whatever you want to call him, lurking out there. Now, I have the heat clinic headache to deal with and Ronan is extrememly agitated. A run. I hadn't had a run for awhile, my wolf has energy that needs to get out. It would do the pack some good to run together. A celebration. We could throw one for little wolf and announce our pup news, but she can't shift. Well, she could but its too risky when you are carrying a pup. Well, that is what we were always taught and I dare not experiment now.

I wish my father was here to bounce ideas off of and get advice on all of it from. I wish my mother was here spending time with Ayla, helping her with all things she-wolf pregnancy related, but she's not. I also wish my little sister was here. The fun aunt she would be. The friend Ayla had and needed then and now. Now she has a feral redhead stealing cars at her side. Not the influence I want for my pup, but a handy skill I guess. She could spend more time with Monica. I start to wonder what Monica's role could be for little wolf before I realize I hadn't felt my rage in a few minutes. The bond in my chest humms with peace and contentment. She had felt me anyway. Sent me her reassurance. It brought a smile to my face.

A war of sorts is coming. Whether it is a small battle taking Mikhail down or oppressive alpha's when the learn of our pup. If or when we take our rightful seats of authority, a problem that I haven't even factored into the previous circus of thoughts, she would have a target on her back. Our pup as well. I want little wolf to be prepared. Physically and with her giftings. I don't want her to be without a weapon in her arsenal. It is time to train little wolf. I don't know what wielding her gifting would do to her pregnant. Would it sack her strength? Will it be stronger? I don't want to experiment with that either, but she needs weapons and her shield is one of them. Precision with wielding it could be a matter or life and death for her.

I flick the lights off in the room and head to my office. Taking off all of my clothes I shift into Ronan. Paws land heavy on the floors as claws extend. I could barely contain him when I had the thought to run home instead of driving. I leave the office and Ronan turns, hitting his nose against the button outside of my door. All the doors have nose height buttons outside of them. Colored the same as whatever paint of wallpaper they hide on. Nearly invisible if you don't know where to look. It keeps us safe in wolf form, never knowing when you will need to shift and escape, but also we are able to completely lock down the pack house. One switch and every door locks. Effectively keeping everyone in or out. It would be catastrophic if we were attacked and that piece of information was found out. That is why only my inner circle knows. The locking part that is.

We head down the stairs, stopping to shake out our black as night fur before leaving the pack house. A fellow pack mate bows at us prior to opening the doors, springing Ronan free. A dead sprint. Claws digging into the earth for traction as we bound at full speed through the forest. The wind through the fur, the sounds of the wilderness. All comforting. All working. I can feel the extra rage and irritation I was holding on to fade away. Ronan is on a mission. Get to our mate. Make sure she is okay, then train. It is time to see what she can do and what she can't. Fates I hope there isn't anything she can't do with her gifting. The more the better.

I break through the trees and observe the snow falling over our frozen lake. Winter is here and that means our pup will be right around late spring. Will that be enough time to wipe out our threats? I hope so. I shift on the porch and walk into the house, fully bear. First thing I notice, the doors are unlocked. At least a wolf trying to get through a locked door will buy her some time.

Little wolf sits in front of the fireplace, reading a book, curled up in a blanket. Her cheeks are rosey as she turns to me, her eyes going wide and trailing down my body. "I heard you had an eventful day?" I asked while she drinks in my form. I love it when she looks at me like that. "Are you talking about Raven borrowing your car or buying one on credit?" she asked while her eyes draw up to meet mine. I shake my head and laugh, going around and plopping my naked form next to her. "Those two need to figure our their shit. Fast. Please tell me she bought the most expensive car there." "oh she did. Said something about Supra or super something or another. I almost lost my cake when she peeled out of the lot. I hope Cyrus finds the humor in it." "She should have picked him out one as well. Replace the one she charred." "I tried. She wan't having it. Why are you naked Thane?" "Ronan was on edge. Too much stuff to sort through so we ran home instead of driving." "I hope to take one thing off your plate. I think I have made progress on the heat clinic situation." little wolf states, nervously. I am not sure why, unless she needs reassurance in her role or decision making abilities. All of which, I can provide. "Tell me all about it. What you have accomplished today." I try to coax her to relax by hiking her feet up on my lap and beginning to rub. Suddenly, all my thoughts prior to being here don't matter.
