Omega Bound Chapter 12
Thane
The revelation that Little Wolf hasn’t seen outside in years is heartbreaking and sets me into a rage. "*Protect, kill them all."* Ronan is eager for blood. To annihilate every shifter that had a part to play in little wolf’s misery.
Her first steps outside, seeing that sunshine brightly on her face, illuminating her snow-white hair is breathtaking. She is beautiful and seeing her smile makes every raid worth it. Every risk we take is necessary to see her smile like this. To truly feel a bit of happiness for the first time in years.
*“We will get names, the scumbag in the dungeon is still being tortured. We can pay him a visit later, Ronan, and we can work on getting answers for Ayla.”* The promise of blood shed seems to sate Ronan for now and he relaxes in my mind.
Escorting Ayla into her room is a sight. Her eyes go wide, and she is darting them around taking everything in. I am proud the shifters on the first floor made themselves scarce as instructed. I sense there would have been a panic attack had they not.
“This here is obviously your living room area. The whole place is open concept. You have a small kitchenette since its guest lodging, but we also have a mess hall on the second floor where everyone can eat together if they want. I will have meals brought to you today though. I think slow is best right now and I am sure you agree.” She quickly looks at me and nods her head “yes.”
I continue showing her around her rooms. Her eyes light up when we enter her bedroom. I’m not sure if it’s the king-sized bed or just the fact she has one, but she begins to run her hand over the covers longingly.
“This here is the door that separates our rooms. Through this door is my bedroom. It has a deadbolt here and there is one installed on your main door. You can choose to keep them locked. I have instructed everyone to stay off this floor. There will be a few visitors to my place at times, but I mainly spend most of my time in my office or at the training grounds. Oh, I almost forgot…” I quickly walked over to her dresser, which I had filled with clothes and picked up a cell phone I had delivered for her. I handed her the phone, and she slowly reached for it, turning it over and inspecting it.
“I got you a cell phone since you can’t mind-link me. I reserve the mind-link for my close circle, and we need to have a conversation about your pack and what you want to do, where you want to go.” At that she quickly turns around and looks at me with panicked eyes.
“I’m not saying you have to leave here little wolf; I meant that if you want to return to your old pack, I can make that happen, or if you want to stay here and join the Midnight Pack you can do that to.” The thought of her leaving has Ronan forcing himself into my mind barrier, pushing to break through, *“Stay, protect he growls. Calm down Ronan. This is overwhelming enough; I don’t need you forcing a shift in front of her. If she wants to return to her old pack, we must allow that. She isn’t our mate Ronan; we can’t force her to stay.”* That statement to him earns me a very loud, rage filled growl.
“If you like, I can show you how to use your phone later, but whether you stay or go, you get to keep that. I programmed my number in there. You can hold down one button to call me, but if you push this bubble here on your phone you can write to me. I have a text thread already started for you. Just write to me here and push this button and then I will get it immediately. Once you get more settled, we can introduce you to others.”
On cue footsteps entering the room have us both spinning, taking in Cyrus as he stands there shirtless and sweaty. His abs hanging out and his gray sweatpants leaving nothing to the imagination. Ronan starts growling in my head, surprising me. I’m not sure why the sight of Cyrus here aggravates me so much, but he wasn’t invited to barge in. Ayla quickly steps over to me and grabs a hold of the side of my shirt, ducking behind me.
“Ayla this is Cyrus. He is my beta, and he helped rescue you. Why he is barging in here, uninvited terrifying you, I’m not sure.”
“Hey, I was working out and thought I would come by and see how everything was going. There was no barging, the door was open. Hey Ayla, how are you settling in?” She peeks her head out from behind me and slowly steps to the side, keeping a hold of my shirt.
“DAMN girl, you are fine. No wonder Thane has been busy trying to get everything perfect for you.”
“Will you shut the hell up for once Cyrus and stop drooling all over yourself.” I look over at Ayla and she has a grin on her face. Thankfully, it seems she can handle Cyrus and his mouth.
“I’m just pointing out the obvious Thane. Girl here is a thing of beauty that I have no problem appreciating.”
“Just get out of here, I will find you in a little bit.” He winks at Ayla, bristling Ronan.
“Later gorgeous, I’ve got a shifter to torture, a few murders to plan, and a knife to sharpen. Let me know personally if your highness here forgot to get you something, or if you need better eye candy around.” He turns and hurries off before I can say anything else. Better eye candy? Not likely.
“I’m sorry about him little wolf. He’s my beta and best friend. We’ve been together since we were pups, so he kind of does whatever he wants, but he’s the best at his job and I trust nobody more than him.” She quietly nods and starts to walk around her room.
“I will have breakfast delivered, please let me know if the clothing I had delivered for you doesn’t fit and we can always get more. I have several meetings today, but you can always text me if you need something and I can check in with you as well. I want you to relax here today, rest, eat, rest some more, soak your muscles and lay back knowing that you are safe and I want you to enjoy that feeling. It’s yours. Nobody will take it from you again.”
I headed for the door, turning and offering her a smile. “Lock this door behind me. It will help you feel better about being in here.” She nods at me, and I exit. I hear the lock click in place and I start to head to my office. Leaving her feels wrong, difficult, but I’m not sure why.
Entering my office, I find Cyrus sitting at my desk already waiting. “Barging into Ayla’s rooms like that was a dick move. She could have gone into a full-blown panic attack.”
“Door was open, you’re asking for company, plus I had to see her all cleaned up. Curiosity got the best of me. I apologize for potentially scaring her, but I won’t apologize for going in. You didn’t tell me how fine she was all cleaned up Thane. She’s absolutely gorgeous. My wolf is still drooling. She’s fine as hell. I’d let her…..”I cut him off with a deep growl.
“Damn Thane, you’re getting a little protective over her don’t you think? Is she your mate?” “No, she isn’t my mate. Ronan is extremely protective of her because of what she has endured. She trusts us and I want to keep that way. She could decide to become a pack member, and I don’t need you scaring her off before she gets a chance to decide.”
“Well, if she isn’t your mate, then you shouldn’t have any problems with me getting to know her a little. Or a lot.”
“She doesn’t need to get to know you or anyone else. She was literally kept in a cage for 10 years and forced into heats Cyrus. She has more trauma than we can even fathom and she doesn’t need a horny shifter confusing her or scaring her.” I explain, my words coming out sternly as Ronan growls at the thought of the two of them anywhere near each other.
“I happen to like them broken.”
“No Cyrus, you like them crazy. There is a difference. Little wolf needs to take things here slowly, and I don’t want you to overwhelm her. Stay away from her rooms.”
“Little wolf? You got a pet name for her already? You sure she’s not your mate?”
“I will admit that Ronan is having a hard time leaving her, and seems calm in her presence, but there is no bond, he didn’t recognize her as his mate. She’s beautiful yes, but not ours. That being said, stop pissing him off. Let’s set down here and discuss our prisoner and plan our next moves.”
“Oh yes, how I love to plan a murder spree first thing in the morning.” He smarts off.
