Five seconds ago, I could have killed Raven. Quite literally abducting my mate and then taking her to an emotional nightmare before setting half the wilderness of fire. It was immature, reckless, and it endangered my mate and pup.

"It was a terrible idea. We won't get anything done today." I turn the car around and head back to our house.

"I think it was a great idea." Little wolf says, resting her hand on my leg as I drive.

"You better keep your paws where I can see them little wolf." I say tilting my head toward her, mesmerized by her teal eyes before I remember that I am supposed to be driving.

"I promise, I promise. I am on my best behavior for now." She smiles at me, squeezing my thigh a little and my chest hums with the love of our bond. I return my focus to driving, but my mind is only on little wolf. Our bond, how we got here, what we have lost, what we are gaining. It is enough to make me feel a little teary eyes. I cough and try to hide my sniffles as little wolf squeezes my thigh harder.

"I know Thane, I know." She whispers to me as we drive home.
