Omega Bound Chapter 259
Cyrus
“She’s moving from the airfield.” I watch Fireball’s dot move on my screen. Every damn second I am away from her makes my skin crawl. Without Raven, I’m a disaster waiting to happen. I can’t settle until I have her in my arms, and if anybody touches her, they will lose theirs.
“It’s going to be okay, brother,” Thane said, voice low and certain,“We’ll get them back. Nothing in this world can keep them from us. And when we do, we’ll make damn sure it never happens again. Best trackers money can buy, the kind they could stitch straight into our bones if they had to. No more losing. They’re ours, always, and nothing will rip them from us again.”
“Hooooollllyyyy shit....did you...Did you just join Team Ass Tracker?” I gasp loudly for dramatics while secretly enjoying pulling him into the dark side. “Are you willing to join Team Subdermal Implant that reports GPS and vitals?”
“At this point, I’m Team Dental Implant.....Team All The Implants.” Thane growls, and I laugh while thrusting my fist in the air, yelling “yes” loudly.
“It starts with an ass tracker and the next thing you know, we’re in a meeting with some sketchy wrinkled troll behind a gas station who we paid to entwine our souls with our mates throughout time together, and all it took was 500.00 and some hair.” I watch Raven’s dot, seeing that it is moving more quickly now.
“That makes no sense,” Thane’s voice comes out baffled in that weary way like he’s already regretting opening his mouth.
“I’m just saying we’ll keep doing crazy shit for our mates.”
“That makes more sense.”
“That’s because I dumbed it down for you.” I scoffed.
“Have you heard from Damon now that I know he was shitting his pants because his mate was going into heat?” I ask, genuinely concerned for Amani’s well-being. She obviously can’t answer the phone, and I don’t like talking to him, so that’s out.
“When I last mind-linked, he was trying to get her down fro....... never mind....They’re fine...he’s upset for obvious reasons, but they’re fine.”
“Trying to get her down from what? Where?” I swear, if he lost my in-heat sister on a roof somewhere, I will gut him.
“Never mind it, Cyrus.” Thane growls.
“No, tell me. Where is she?”
“Calm your murder aura down, she’s safe. He just encountered that she’s....well, she’s a climber, which, looking back, makes sense. No fear of heights when you’re hanging from.....a.....um.... never mind.” Thane clears his throat when I feel my eyes squint, waiting to see if he is going to elaborate, which he doesn’t.
“How high is she on top of wherever she is that is supposedly safe, Thane?” I ask him, my tone low and steady while I contemplate killing Damon.
“Oh, not high. She was on top of the kitchen cupboards.” I reared my head to the side, looking at the side of Thane’s in disbelief....totally confused.
“Why.....was she on top of the kitchen cupboards?” Why would any she-wolf ever climb on them during heat? They only want knots?
“He tried to feed her. I guess she’s a climber.” Of course, because none of our she-wolves' heats could be normal. They don’t teach you these things in school.
“Did you tell him the trick to get them to eat?”
“Yes,” Thane answers quickly.
“Good,” I respond, watching Fireball’s tracker again, trying to figure out how she started moving so quickly. She must have stolen something faster.
“Yes,” Thane mutters as I sit and think. Wait...a minute....
“No.....No, not ‘yes’. Not good. Yuck.... NO TRICK TO EAT...NO... That’s my sister. You told him to BANG my sister while forcing her to eat? SHE DOESN’T HAVE TO IF SHE DOESN’T WANT TO!” I start kicking the dashboard in disbelief that I suggested my sister be educated on how to heat eat. Yuck.
“OH, DON’T YOU GO THERE. YOU KNOW THEY NEED TO EAT.” Thane yells, shaking a hand at me.
“THAT’S MY SISTER. YOU SHOULD HAVE TOLD HIM TO FIND A BETTER WAY.” I point my finger back at his stupid hand.
“THEY NEED THEIR CALORIES!” Thane yells, swatting my finger away.
“NOT ON THE FIRST DAY! IT’S DAY ONE, THAT’S NOTHING!” Yeah, his she-wolf needed tons of calories because omega’s heats are way longer. I would be jealous if Fireball wasn’t a weapon of mass destruction during her heat.
“THERE IS NO BETTER WAY. YOU BANG THEM WHILE THEY EAT. THEY ALWAYS NEED THEIR CALORIES.” Thane scoffs while shaking his head.
“DON’T FREAKING SAY BANGING IN ANY REFERENCE TO MY SISTER THANE.” I turn completely toward him now, seconds away from ripping his ugly ear off.
“THEY BANG. YOUR SISTER BANGS. THEY ARE MATED. THEY WILL BANG. BANG. BANG. BANG.” Thane snarls.
“When this is over and our she-wolves are locked in their rooms, I’m kicking your ass,” I growl, turning back toward the dash to check my phone against the exits coming up.
“Go for it.” Thane taunts.
“All over... I'm kicking that shit everywhere.” I mumble, studying the phone. Raven’s satellite ping freezes every few seconds, and her speed is fast....too fast. “I think we need to take the airfield exit.”
“Why?” Thane switches into the right lane, ready to take the off-ramp.
“Raven’s signal is cutting in and out. I have reception and her speed..something’s up. I can feel it.” I exhale, trying like hell to mind-link Raven. The bond in my chest is faint, quiet, and it aches.
I need my mate.
We roll into the little airfield, tires crunching on gravel, and my pulse spikes the second I spot it. A black Charger was parked crooked at the edge of the tarmac. I’d know that car anywhere; it belongs to one of ours. “There....” I point to the car as Thane drives back.
I jump out of our vehicle as the rest of our team drives in one by one and run for the car. My wolf claws against my ribs as the wind shifts, carrying her scent. Raven, wild vanilla, tangled with engine oil and anger.
She was here. She touched it, drove it, and used it. The Charger’s door hangs half-open like a discarded toy. “Do you think she would find anything around here that could move faster than this? There’s no way.” I say in disbelief. She wouldn’t...
She would.
My hands tremble on my knees, torn between tearing the damn car apart for more of her scent or throwing my head back and howling, because she’s gone again, slipping through my fingers like smoke.
“She did this on purpose,” knowing I’d come tearing after her like a starving beast.
My chest heaves as the realization slams into me, a sick twist of disbelief and rage tangling together until I want to rip the tarmac apart with my bare hands. She used the tracker. My tracker. She let herself get stolen so I’d follow, so she could drag me right to them like some twisted breadcrumb trail.
My clever, infuriating, impossible she-wolf, turning my obsession into her weapon. And damn it, I should be mad at her for it, but all I can think about is sinking my teeth into the fools who thought they could lay hands on what’s mine.
“Load up. We move NOW.” Thane yells as we bolt for the SUVs, following Raven’s breadcrumbs.
