Cyrus

That little Fireball of mine thinks she can stay away from me. Funny. Sure, go ahead and stay in Ayla's old room and refuse to answer any of my questions. Great plan. Too bad I think the plan is bullshit. She is either on the run or used to battles. Maybe both. I noticed she was constantly checking her surroundings when she arrived at the pack. She has a reason to be on edge, I get it, but instinctively I feel that there is something deeper going on here and I want to the bottom of it. She is my fated mate and whatever is going on with her is now my problem. Whether she likes it or not.

I put her down in her new room and she immediately shoves me in my chest. I held myself firm, but not going to lie, she is strong. "Are you going to throw a temper tantrum Fireball? If so, I can't wait." I really shouldn't push her buttons, but I also enjoy seeing her big red hair flailing around when she is yelling at me. She's fierce and I love it.

"How freaking dare you throw me over your shoulder! I said I didn't want to come here!" She stands tall, putting a fierce scowl on her face. I may need to use my dimples soon.

"Why don't you tell me why you don't want to come here with your fated mate? I think that would be a good piece of information to have right now." I scowl back. I notice that she is planting her feet firm, her 5'9" athletic frame tense and ready for a confrontation. My Fireball doesn't know that I wouldn't hurt my fated mate. I need to figure out the right approach and fast. I will catch her if she bolts, but I don't know if I could stop my wolf from marking her in a chase.

"Look. You just went through a lot. I don't know what, because you won't tell me, but I know it was bad. I don't want to fight with you. You are my fated mate. The fates aligned or whatever and decided that you + me=love. I know you feel the bond, the pull. The overwhelming desire to mate. To be with each other. I don't expect anything from you, but I just ask that you let me in a little. Please. I just pulled my fated mate out of an underground bunker wearing a muzzle and chained to the floor. My wolf is on edge. He wants his mate, and he wants to protect and comfort. I understand that can't happen right now, but all I ask is an answer." I watch her closely, the brown/green eyes swirl with a fire behind them. Her pulse picks up and she starts to shuffle on her feet and looks away from me. She certainly feels the bond. For whatever reason, she doesn't want to.

"You have a problem with thinking that you are entitled to any information about me. I don't have to tell you a damn thing. I am not what you want. I am not what you are looking for! When will you get it through your skull that you don't want this?" Raven yells out, pointing that skinny little finger in the air at me.

"I don't want this? You don't get to speak for me Fireball. I am a big pup and can make my own decisions. I want my fated mate. I want you. Why is that so hard for you to understand?" I growl, growing more frustrated with the situation by the minute. She let out a breath I didn't realize she was holding, and her shoulders started to slump. Her eyes fell to the floor. I take a step toward her, "I want you Fireball. If you don't want me, you will have to reject me, and I will never let that happen." Her eyes dart back up to meet mine and I see fear mixed with curiosity in them. I dare say shocked. Who wouldn't want their fated mate? She lets her gaze linger for a while, searching for something behind my eyes before she lets out a sigh and looks back down at the ground.

"A question for a question?" She asks quietly, and I have to keep my face still and stop myself from jumping up and down like a school aged pup when she asks. Quietly letting a little of her guard down. "Sure. You name it Fireball. You ask first." I tell her and wait, feeling a little nervous. Which is something I am not used to feeling. I am usually very confident, but in her presence, I am scared as hell. Scared she will open her mouth and utter the words of rejection. I wouldn't let her do that. Over my crazy assed body.

"What do you want in a fated mate? What are your expectations?"

"That is two questions Fireball, but I will let it slide for you. I want my fated mate because she is destined and made just for me. My other half. To better me. To work with me. To complete me. I want to love each other, consume each other. I want us against the world Raven."

I pull her chin up with my fingers, so she is forced to look at me. So many emotions swirling around behind those beautiful eyes. I can feel the bond thrumming in my chest, aching to be complete. For us to be together. I would give anything to have her. I would give anything for her. I would give her everything if she let me. "My turn. Why don't you want the mate bond?" I ask expectantly waiting for her to hold up her end of the bargain. Fireball steps backwards a few steps, before squaring her chin and looking up at me, holding my gaze.

"I am a rejected mate, Cyrus. You are my second chance mate. You don't want that. I have baggage. You deserve better. Move on Cyrus. It will be better for you if you do." She turns around and silently walks away back toward the bedroom.

Oh no. She isn't getting away from me that easily. Second chance mate? Yeah, I need a name. My mate is hurt. Probably broken. I can't allow that to continue. I can't let her go and do all that hurt alone.

I turn around and walk out of Raven's room. Shutting the door, I turned and dug the key out of my pocket that Thane so graciously gave me and entered his old room. If Raven thinks she is hiding from me and sneaking out later, she is wrong. "Honey I'm home!" I yell out before walking straight to that adjoining door.
