Chapter 102: She Is Mine

Callan

“You sick fuck, you crazy fucker.” He was seething at me.

“Brianna Fletcher is mine,” I growled into his ear.

“Brianna!” He screamed for no good reason and I bent his arm further and gave him a reason to scream like a little bitch.

It was when I dislocated his shoulder from his hold, he screamed and spit and even tried to bite me. He was desperate, so I released his arm and stood up. He was on the ground writhing in pain. I used my six thousand designer shoes and kicked the shit out of him. In his face, head, ribs, gut and legs. I let my rage come forward and I lost it. I beat this man ti a bloody pulp but I didn't kill him.

“Vicky, hey listen to me.” I said through his cries and screaming.

“If you try to name drop me to the police, they won't do shít about it. I have them in my pocket and what will happen is I will send about ten of my goons down here to destroy your house, your pathetic car and destroy your career. I will get your membership at that shitty club revoked, you are done and finished.” I warned him, because aside from actual death itself, it is detrimental to a narcissist prick like him to lose his title and authority. To lose his good name, he lay there spitting blood and coddling his arm which was hanging loose to keep it in place.

“That beating was for Bryce.” I said to him, stepping back so he could see all of me from where he laid on the ground.

I pulled my gun and watched the man cower in immediate fear. Without a second, I aimed at his foot and pulled the trigger.

“Ahhhh!” He yelled, he didn't know what to do with himself again.

“That was for Brianna.” I let him know before tucking my gun.

I dusted myself off and smoothed out my hair before getting back into my car. I wavered on the idea of just  leaving the man but if he dies, Bryce will know it was me. I got out of the car and grabbed the man to pull his phone. He hollered in fear when I approached him again, thinking I was back from more. I dialed the emergency number and wiped my print before dropping the phone in front of his face while it rang. Then I drove off.

Brianna POV.

I had been really worked up about my father reappearing in me and my brother's life all of a sudden. I felt like a child again, nervous to the point of stomach aches, second guessing my every move. I won't delete my fashion page though, I have done enough hiding, I have sacrificed enough. It was unsettling that my father pretended to be some young girl to start having conversations with me, it was down right crazy and so were his long belligerent direct messages he left on the page. I hadn't fully blocked him yet, because I was keeping an eye on my threats he might send. I did put it so he couldn't see my picture and I wasn't going to let this get down today though.

Today is my first day at Vogue. I decided to wear a stylish sheer mesh turtleneck top under an oversized blazer that I clinched at the waist with a chunky belt. I put my hair up and gave myself bangs to frame my face. I felt this look made me seem mature and ready for the job. I was nervous but in an excited way, I already met Janet so it isn't like I am walking into the blind. But there is still so much to see, one of the world's most fashionable streets in London is where the headquarters of vogue is located. When I approached the building, I almost felt like I might pass out. Who would have thought I would step foot into this building.

Inside the lobby was already chic, but you weren't allowed access to the actual office until you scanned your badge and went up to the top floor. I was greeted at the elevator by a woman who seemed ready to receive me.

“Brianna?” She asked and when I nodded, she smiled and waved me to follow her.

My eyes couldn't focus on just one thing, I realized that different sections are styled differently. When we pushed through the glass door, I could see we were in the fashion section that Janet Alinco works in. On one side, you see the very femme furniture desks, tables and chairs with cushions on them. To separate their identical space are white squared area rugs and chic drapes that can be pulled. It is an open floor plan though, crystal chandeliers hanging over each stark desk, flowers are in vases that look like my favorite. It is like this place was made for me.

“Let me give you a tour. I am Lucy.” She introduced herself while moving forward.

I quickly followed after her and introduced myself as well even though she technically already know my name. Her English was pretty good, and she speaks three languages and that is what I was trying to do. I gaped when I got to the closet room, a three-sixty roundabout of clothes, shoes, bags, you name it.

“This is the first and most important room.” She winked at me and my jaw dropped. I couldn't speak or function beyond taking it all in.

“Okay, you can see more later, I really should get you to Mrs. Alinco.” She grabbed my arm.

I already got to know that she is also an intern. She is a young girl with boxy shoulders and an animated laugh. When she opened Janet's office door, we were immediately struck by the starkness, white walls, modern decor, minimal possessions, elegantly furnished with a desk and conference style table, both topped in glass. No lingering papers, books or folders, nothing. The woman was already behind her desk with her reading glass down the bridge of her nose. She was in no particular rush to greet me, she finished reading whatever she was looking at on her   conouy screen before her eyes shifted up.

“Brianna Fletcher.” She smirked.

“Hello, Janet…. wait, you did ask me to call you that, right?” I quickly took it back.

“I did,” she nodded once.

“Okay, Janet. I am so excited to be here.” I clasped my hands below my chin. Not very mature of me but I am freaking out here.

“Thank you, Lucy.” She waved off the girl who was poised at the door waiting for instructions and she quickly disappeared from the room.

Janet was in a chic pants suit today, she removed her glasses from the tip of her nose and folded them in front of her.

“Well, Brianna. This is the floor you will be working on. This is the fashion department but this particular section here is the runway editorial section. I am the senior editor here and what we do is keep up with the latest trends and most importantly what is coming out on the runways. With that, we work closely with the revenant designer and I attend many runway shows that I do let my interns tag along if I like their work ethics and if they stand out to me. You will have a chance to impress me, Brianna.” She informed me in her sophisticated accent.

She wasn't one to wear much makeup, I oddly found that surprising. It did leave her age quite ambiguous though. I wouldn't call her a stunning woman, she has a very modest face but it is her aura that is the real presence in the room. I ended up having a long conversation with her as she explained all there is to know about her world and what is expected of me. Of course, it is a lot like what I do for Elizabeth which is grunt work. But in doing the grunt work, I will be around a lot of important environments and meeting important people. The more I impress her, the more places I get to with her. I would like to see the runway show here in London, I have my work cut out for me between those two jobs but I am so ready for it

She wasn't shy about throwing me right into the chaotic world of fashion news writing. She asked me to shadow a meeting she was having with her other writers and interns who will be taking notes. They are meant to discuss article ideas for the week, this is a weekly meeting expected to attend on Friday's. They prepared to write articles based on relevant information or upcoming events like next week’s fashion collection. She and two of her staff will be able to attend, getting a sneak peek for the magazine. I would die to attend.
