Off Limits, Brother's Best Friend Chapter 99
Chapter 99: You Want Me To Handle It?
Callan
“You think he knows where Brianna is?” I asked and Bryce's eyes snapped up at me but he didn't say anything. He just looked away again and shrugged.
“I didn't think he knew my phone number and he does. So, who knows, dude.” She shook his head.
“Do you want me to handle this?” I asked outright, he sat up straighter and looked at me with a somewhat blank expression.
“What do you mean? Like, kill him?” I shrugged.
“No man. I can't go that far. He is a piece of shit but he is still my father. It is just a line I shouldn't cross.”
“What if he goes after your sister, what then?”
I don't like this, I have never lingered too much on the topic of that narcissist vec he wasn't involved in their lives anymore. He hadn't been for so many years on Brianna's part and even longer for Bryce. Him resurfacing though, that shit isn't going to fly with me.
“Brianna isn't even in the country, she is fine. Is that your only focus?” He called me out.
“It is not even about that, I know their history and yours and I am on your side, Bryce.” I reminded him of the fact, he huffed and nodded.
“I ended up just yelling at him not to call me anymore and hung up. He called back about a dozen times and then stopped for now. It is not over though, I know how he ticks, he won't just let this go now that he has a small crumb of a way back into our lives.” I scratched my beard and put down my glass.
“How do you think he got your number? Really think about it.” I said.
If they have his number, they might have other knowledge about him that they could pass on. So he needs to find the source.
“That is what I was trying to think about, we cut off a lot of family and friends and the ones who do have my number are people I trust not to share it to him. I really just don't know.” He stood up and walked to my bar to grab himself something. His nerves are shot.
“Brianna's fashion page is pretty public, maybe someone stumbled upon it.” I gave him my own idea.
“I thought about that, she said she blocked so many people from our past from being able to view her content. So I don't know how it could be that, I mean, I guess it is one of the more logical ways. I should talk to her but I also don't want to freak her out. I didn't want to tell her about our father, I am conflicted here, dude. What should I do?” He looked at me, I puffed my cheeks out and scratched my beard again.
“If you want my honest opinion, I think you should leave your sister out of it. If he keeps calling you or if he makes any threats, I can stick some guys on this and see what they dig up about him. If you don't want to handle him permanently, then that is all you can really do.”
I would love to handle him permanently, I think back to the day Brianna was standing in the living room, telling us about some of the shit that went on after Bryce left for the military. Not only did he psychological abuse her by constantly putting her down for not being good enough, not beautiful enough or talented enough, he also emotionally and physically abused her. He started drinking more, putting the family in debt to maintain this facade and then blaming her for his unhappiness. When she told him her dream of fashion school, he threw her down the fucking stairs. I clenched my fist and took a calming breath. Bryce will want to know what is working me up so much if he sees me reacting just as badly as he is. I can keep a calm head about this, I remember Brianna saying to me once that I do things for her without wanting anything in return or using it as a weapon against her. She was surprised and extremely thankful, and that shows me a glimpse into the kind of shít she has been through. She doesn't even know how to accept generosity, without worrying and planning ahead to combat the abuse of her father and ex in the aftermath.
She tipped around and she was careful about what she accepted, probably because she learned she will need to pay it back some way. What did her father make her pay back?
“Well?” I asked when he had gone quiet. He was really antsy and I could see it.
“This really worked me up, dude.” He said what I already knew.
“Bryce, you just say the word.” I reminded him.

I was at the warehouse overseeing the new shipments that just rolled in. I have been making a lot of money off these new guns. This thing is, once word gets out that I have high quality shit being smuggled, some people might want to try their shot at taking it from me. I have a few ideas of who might be ballsy enough and I am ready if they do. It would get messy though, and I don't want my men at risk. For now, my shipments have come in undisrputed and I paid enough to have protection over my products, so they better fucking protect it.
“Hey, boss, are you up for a poker game later?” One of my men asked across the lot.
“Why? So I can take all your money?” I replied and he chuckled. He started talking with some of the men about maybe starting up a game tonight. Angelo walked in from wherever he had just come from, waving a piece of paper at me.
“Boss needs to sign a couple things on the legal business.” He informed me. I looked at my inner coat pocket for a pen and held the paper right up against the warehouse wall to give a quick sign off on some.
“Where is Bryce?” He asked me, I pointing behind me to the warehouse office up the metal stairs. He tipped his head for us to head up.
Since things were running smoothly down here, I followed him. Bryce was behind the desk, doing a couple of things.
“Are we going out again this weekend? The other night was fun as hell.” Angelo started talking.
Neither of us got a word in before Bryce's phone started ringing. When he answered it, I realized it was a facetime call and that it was his sister. I don't know why but my gut clenched.
“Yes?” He asked her, knowing she didn't usually call at his time which means she was calling for a reason.
He hadn't been looking at the screen when he was talking to her but as soon as she opened her mouth, he quickly snatched the phone. She was crying.
“Bryce something happened.” She said.
“What? What is going on?” He practically stood up with nowhere to go.
“I have a lot of fans on my fashion page. Sometimes they talk to me and comment or direct message me. It was common stuff but I was talking to this account who didn't have a profile picture. He seems really cold but Bryce, it was father. He has been pretending to be some girl and he tricked me, he has been talking to me for weeks now.” She began to sob, I gritted my teeth.
Angelo doesn't know the extent of it, so he was looking around the room, trying to see what this was about.
“Fúck, listen, Brianna. Take a breath, alright. I didn't want to tell you about this but I guess I should have. Father called me the other day, I don't know how he got my number. If I knew he had access to you, I would have said something sooner.”
Fúck, he told her.
“He called you?” She gasped.
“Why wouldn't you tell me!” He yelled at him after the realization settled.
“So you wouldn't get upset.” He waved at her condition.
I couldn't see her, I was on the opposite side of the desk from him where he held the phone. I wanted to walk over there but I knew I couldn't.
“He is deranged, Bryce. He pretended to be a girl who likes fashion and was a fan of my page. We spoke, I talked to him and I shivered every time I thought of it. What if he comes to London or Port Harcourt? What if he knows where you live?” She sounded so upset and I was itching.
I wanted to go over there and Angelo knew it. He placed his hand on my shoulder and said nothing but the gesture was clear. He was telling me not to get involved. Bryce quickly looked up at us, he looked to be a bit exasperated himself.
