Chapter 166: I Am A Fresh Meat

After a few important work related events I had completely thrown myself into distraction, I was no longer the weepy kind of sad. I was the angry kind of sad, the kind where you want to go out and just let loose. My brother's birthday is this coming weekend and I won't be going to his night time plan which will be at Callan's club with friends. He invited me but I had to decline him. I can't tell him it is because I am not allowed in the Emerald lounge per request of his best friend.

I just decided to tell him it is because I want to do my own thing with him and then he can go party with his boring friends. He chuckled and left that alone. Jane and I were at this trendy bar tonight near her house. We were having a couple drinks to unwind after my few hard weeks. I was in a chic patchwork mini dress with a wide sleeve. My dress wasn't tight, it was meant for style not sex appeal, though my legs looked long in this style. Jane dressed for sex appeal and she was getting a lot of turning heads. She was in a sexy slip dress she had recently purchased.

“I needed a reason to wear this dress.” She laughed.

“So I was thinking to make Bryce's birthday dinner fun, not boring with just me there. I was going to invite the tattoo shop crew to the trendy fancy restaurants my brother likes. You guys can get there beforehand and he will be surprised when we get there. What do you thank?” I asked.

“No way! That was a super cool idea.” She got on board right away.

“If you want to go to the club with Bryce, I will handle my brother for you. I won't let him kick you out.” She offered.

“No, out of the question. I am not stepping foot in any place he owns ever. So, like I was saying, we have a fun little dinner and then he can do what he pleases for the rest of the evening. It is his day, so whatever he wants.” I shrugged.

“Sounds good, I have always found Zevrie to be a hottie. I like to flirt.” She smirked at me like I didn't know that already.

I was about to speak when I felt a quick tap on my shoulder, I turned and I wasn't expecting the face I saw. It was that guy Roy Vortex from the birthday party for his stupid cousin, Hannah.

“I thought that was you.” He smirked my way.

“Hey, Roy.” Jane gave him a hug and cheek kiss. He looked at me expectantly, wanting the same form so I did it not to be awkward.

“I am here with friends but I spotted some cuties and realized I knew them.” He winked at the both of us, Jane laughed, her flirty laugh.

Roy was the more handsome one of the group when I met some of my brother's friends. He has got a nice head of dark hair but his softer eyes look nice against his other features. His build seems pretty decent but it is his smooth attitude that makes him attractive, that and the good bone structure.

“If you don't mind, may I stay for a minute?” He looked at me when he said that.

“Umm, no, go ahead.” I took a step back so he could be between Jane and I in a somewhat half circle against the bar.

“I was hoping to see you this weekend but I guess I got to see you sooner than that.” He smirked.

Decent lips too, I almost asked him what he meant by this weekend until I realized he was talking about Bryce's birthday party, whatever it is.

“I am actually not going to Bryce's thing. Him and I have separate plans then he is going out with his friends.” I replied and his smirk fell.

“Oh come on, you can't miss your big brother's birthday.” He nudged me playfully.

I smiled but really all I could think about was Callan's hateful eyes when he told me I couldn't go into his establishments. I don't want to face the embarrassment of being kicked out and he is clearly an asshole enough to do it. I don't even want to see him anyway, I haven't since that day. When my brother saw the dent in the wall, he lied and said I was trying to restyle and accidentally knocked furniture into it. It was a dumb lie but he really didn't think too deeply into it. He said it was okay, thanks I dented it, that it could be easily fixed. Not so easily fixed for me but whatever. The wall was smooth again.

“I am sure you will have a lot of fun, Roy. You seem like a man who likes to enjoy himself.” I let my eyes look him up and down in a flirty way.

“Fuck, I like the way you say my name.” He swiped a hand down his jaw. He isn't clean shaven either, he has got light stubble which I like more than a clean shaven face. Jane grinned at this little exchange between the two of us. She stopped talking and started observing.

After Roy and I had that flirty little stare off, I turned to my drink and took a sip.

“I think I would enjoy myself much more if you were there. Then I don't have to think up a way of seeing you again.” He licked his lips and my eyes watched the gesture. I laughed and shook my head.

“You are really a smooth flirt.” I gave him his props.

“I don't know why you think I am kidding, after Hannah's party, I had no way of contacting you but I wanted to.” He said to me with a more serious expression now. Still smooth but not silly, so I would know he wasn't joking. I felt my cheeks tinted just because of the attention he was giving me here. I decided to go for humor.

“Why didn't you ask Bryce for my number?” I smirked, he laughed and shook his head.

“I think you know why, darling but how about you go ahead and give it to me?” His eyes trailed the length of my legs.

This outfit makes them stand out, I quickly glanced at Jane and she was dramatically nodding her head yes that I better give him my number. I don't mind flirting, I am in the anger stage of my hurt and I want to have fun. But I don't want to give this guy the wrong idea about me either. Then again, he is not looking to marry me, the guy wants to flirt too. I shouldn't overthink this.

“Okay,” I told him, he did a double take when he realized I actually agreed to it.

A grin broke across his face, a troublemaker's grin if I ever saw one. After I typed in my number, he snapped his head over to Jane almost like he just remembered he was blocking her from our semi-circle.

“I am sorry, Jane. I forgot for a second that you were here.” He gave her a little smile.

“It is okay, Brianna has that effect on people.” She winked at me, she loves mischief, she is all for it.

“I bet,” he turned to check me out again. Good thing I have makeup on or I would be redder than a tomato.

Roy stayed and talked for a little bit longer but his friends kept calling for him. Eventually, he huffed but parted ways with us, he had spent the good majority of our conversation being a flirt but he can hold an actual conversation too.

“I like him, I think he is a fun rebound.” Jane snapped her fingers like she just figured something out.

“I am not going to get over my brother's friend by sleeping with another one of his friends.” I deadpanned. She waved me off like I was ridiculous.

“Bryce doesn't need to know anything about it, you are an adult, Brianna. And Roy is hot, he is super into you if you haven't noticed.” She took my hand and made me turn my head towards the back table his friends were at. I ended up catching eyes with Roy because he was glancing over already.

“Oh, please. I am a fresh meat.” I reminded her why I have that guy's attention at all.

It is all some big game for men, they really want what they think they can't have or they get distracted by a shiny new thing. Then they are back to being the douchebags that they are.

“Don't be so cynical, Brianna. You have had shitty luck with a few guys but there are fun ones out there that won't leave you feeling like shit. Just have fun.” She reminded me that it doesn't have to be anything serious.
