Chapter 112: Guys Are Dumb

Brianna 

“Just do as you were told , as far as you know, I had to take a last minute fight out there. Yes…yes.” Callan said and then I heard him hung up.

He walked out of the bathroom to stand almost directly behind me. His hands came to my hips and he pulled my back against his front. I was a little upset from how last night's conversation had gone. I asked him to come to London and he didn't respond to that. He kissed me a little bit and fell asleep. It made me feel silly for even thinking he would take any more time off work than he already has.

“Brianna,” he called my name with the intention of turning me around but I stayed put.

Instead he wrapped his arms fully around me, keeping my back pressed onto him while he spoke agia in his sexy morning voice.

“I have settled things” he said without elaborating and that got me to turn in his arms and I looked up at him.

“Meaning?” I furrowed my brows.

“I didn't say yes last night because your brother is coming home later today. He would wonder where I was if I was gone for the next two days.” He explained, again disappointment hit me but I understood his reasoning and I just nodded okay.

“But, I sorted it out.” He reiterated.

“Meaning?” I found myself asking again.

“I told Angelo to tell them I had to take a last minute flight to Singapore to deal with some problems with my father. He knew we had an argument before he left, it is believable I would go there to oversee some business. I will come to London with you.” He shocked me with his words, my eyes lit up and I couldn't help the grin that split across my face.

His lips seemed to twitch in amusement when I jumped into his arms and hugged him tightly.

“Thank you, thank you!” I was so relieved.

When he placed me down, he cupped my face and kissed my lips. It made my heart flutter in my chest.

“I didn't think you would say yes.” I said to him quietly when he parted his lips from mine. He took my chin and made me look up at him.

“Why is that?” His thumb grazed my bottom lip as he asked and it made me lick my lips in response which kept his eyes there.

“Because you don't like taking time off work, and you have already gotten plenty of sex here. I figured you were satiated.” I fished a little bit, feeling needy for him to reassure me that it isn't just the sex that brings him to me. He dropped my chin and looked away from me.

“I am already right here, might as well take the two extra days.” He shrugged away his choice.

I stopped fishing after that, it was good enough for me that he has agreed to come. I won't push it from there.

“Have you booked a flight?” I asked, removing myself from his arms to start getting dressed. I can't miss my flight, Janet will be waiting for me in the lobby soon.

“I brought out the first class ticket on your flight. Do you fly first class?” He asked, I snorted a laugh until I realized he was serious.

“No, the company only pays for people like Janet to be first class. Me and the other girl are in normal seats.” I quickly shoved my clothes into my packed bag and started moving about the room. He casually leaned into the wall and watched me, he slipped on jeans and a t-shirt and was ready with little effort.

“Do you want me to upgrade you?” I immediately shook my head no, I didn't like him spending money on me. He already had a lot of time and I am left feeling guilty. 

“No way, I am fine where I am. We will reconvene at the airport.” I smiled, he is really coming and I love it.

It was still early by the time we got to the apartment, Jane was still asleep. Callan and I had a quiet breakfast at the veranda, whether it was the movement around the house or just chance, she ended up waking up earlier than usual. When she stepped out of her room, she was expecting me but not her brother. In her excitement, she rushed to me, squeezing me in a back breaking hug but then she paused.

“Wait,” she turned slightly to glance behind her. She finally released me once she saw him.

“Callan?” She didn't rush towards him for a hug, she was more surprised and confused than anything.

“Umm, Callan came to France?” She asked, her face split into a shit eating grin.

“Really?” She said with an air of mischief.

“I am going to take a shower.” He dismissed himself from the living room, she grabbed me right away and dragged me to our square sofa.

“Tell me everything,” she whispered.

“Yes, he came to France and then I asked him to come to London with me for the next two days since I have time off work.” I explained.

“Whose idea was it to come to France?” She was in her pinstripe lady boxer and a tank top and her hair was thrown up carelessly. Still her eyes sparkled from the reflection of  the open veranda and the sun that leaked through. She is effortlessly beautiful and I envy that.

“It was his idea to come to France and my idea for him to come to London.” I could see her thinking a bit.

“This is big,” she mumbled.

“It is? Why?” I asked, I needed her to spell it out.

“Because he actively made a move to come see you, that is a pretty expensive booty call if you ask me. It is obviously more than that.” She shook my shoulders, almost making me slip off the end of the sofa. I braced myself on the short coffee table and adjusted.

“Do you really think so? I kind of thought the same thing but I didn't want to get my hopes up and misunderstood what was happening here.” I whispered even though I heard the shower running by now.

“Umm, hello, he came to France and Landon. He is extending his time with you, he can't play that off as nothing. He obviously misses you.” Her words made my stomach flip and my heart swell. A small smile played on my lips. This is what I was hoping and she is basically verifying it to be true.

“I don't want to ask him where we stand just yet, I don't want to scare him away. He is your brother, you know him better than I do. Do I proceed with caution?” I asked outright, she tucked her leg underneath her bum and brought her elbow to the back of the sofa, leaning her head against her closed fist and whispered.

“Yes, proceed with caution, guys are dumb, sometimes they don't even realize their own feelings and actions until much later than a woman does. Just enjoy this.” With her other hand, she nudged me and I nodded and dropped back on the sofa. 

Just enjoy this and I will certainly do that.

“Well, what have you been up to this week?” I asked as  I shook my head clear of my turning thoughts, focusing on her. She tipped her head and groaned.

“It is not fun here without you, I mean, like it is fun because I went out with girls and stuff. But I was lonely at home.” She pouted and I chuckled.

“We are becoming codependent.” I teased her, she lunged forward to knock me back, hugging me dramatically.

“So what!” She exclaimed louder than she needed to. She has a big personality and it just makes me laugh.

“Tell me everything about France.” She finally sat up and get serious.

I was more than happy to give her the recap. Once Callan was out of the shower, I went in and by the time I was back out and dressed, he had cooked something for the three of us.

“I never knew you cooked until the first time you came here. Who taught you how to cook?” I asked as we walked to the living room. Jane and I sat with our legs criss crossed on the floor, like we often do since we have no kitchen table. He stayed on the edge of the sofa and ate from there.

“My grandma,” he said in his short disinterested tone that he is an expert at giving.

He didn't give me any more information than that, it was Jane who started talking. She told me more about their family than I ever knew, Callan humored me when we went out before and told me a few stories about growing up. It is hard to draw much out of this man. He isn't a talkative person.
