Off Limits, Brother's Best Friend Chapter 200
Chapter 200: Stolen Bag
Brianna
Since I haven't had lunch, I decided to go down to this low-key spot not far from the restaurant location over towards the area Bryce had taken me many times with to the art center and the garden. The weather was nice so I decided to walk but I did at least contact the men who will be following me. On my stroll over to the food spot I enjoyed, my phone buzzed and it was Roy. I sent him, Jane and my brother a photograph of the Vogue cover I am crazily on.
'Shit, look at you model girl, had to google translate the headline.’ he sent me a silly face emoji.
I was texting Roy a little bit while I went and had lunch by myself. I had just about finished when a patron started to walk by me but grabbed for the edge of my table as they seemed to be passing out. I gasped and stood up quickly to help the girl who was already on the floor by now.
“Are you okay? Can you hear me?” I went on my knees and tapped the woman's cheek lightly and her eyes eventually fluttered open and staff was already coming over with some water for her. Other patrons started looking over as people began to realize someone was on the ground.
“Oh, I am alright.” The girl who probably wasn't far from my age started sitting up even though I had pulled her head up to rest on my leg.
“Are you sure?” I was checking for injuries, I couldn't see the full fall but j assumed she hit her head or something.
“Yes, this happens when my blood sugar is low. I promise I am okay.” She assured me and the staff who were shaking over her looking down at us.
“Get something to eat.” I told her but she shook her head.
“Please excuse me, I have my injection in the car.” She got to her feet and did look steady now. I was glad but I was tempted to follow her out just to be sure she didn't pass out again.
Because she insisted so much that she was completely fine, I didn't want to go overboard and follow this stranger out. Instead, I returned to my seat as the girl left the place. It is a kind of food spot that you pay at the register before even sitting down, so since the meal was paid for, I reached out for my purse to head out and dropped it when it wasn't there.
I quickly jumped to my feet and looked under the table to be sure it didn't slip off the bench in the commotion.
“Oh my gosh,” I started freaking out when it was nowhere to be seen.
I rushed to the front desk and started asking the staff if they saw a purse. K didn't know what else to do.
“Oh, no.” One of them said, my eyes snapped over to a young girl.
“I think we just got tricked, that fainting lady was probably the distraction for someone else to steal your purse.” She said and my heart dropped for a second time.
“What? Do people do that?” I felt my nerves turn right back into a full panic.
“They do unfortunately.” Another one chimed in. I began looking around if anyone saw anything but people had been fixated on the girl the same way I had been. I can't fucking believe it. I was both freaking out and livid, how could you fake a medical crisis just to steal someone's belongings?
“Oh my gosh,” I kept saying under my breath.
I rented that purse and it also cost almost five thousand. Not knowing what to do, I ended up rushing outside to see if I spotted the woman but why would she stick around if she was a part of stealing my purse. They had been familiar with the brand to know that this was a very expensive bag. They had to have known, I am so stupid. What the hell am I going to do? I am responsible for that bag when I rented it out through the app and I have to replace it. It is too expensive for me to afford right now. Tears began to prick my eyes as I frantically looked around. In my panic, I ended up calling Roy of all people. I probably would have called Jane if she was in the area but she was away and I didn't want to bother her. Not that Roy can do anything about this, but I needed to vent or I don't know. I just know that I called.
“Hey, beautiful?” He answered causally not when I began to sniffle into the phone, he quickly changed his tune.
“What happened?” His voice sounded more urgent and I started balling my eyes out, telling him I just got robbed.
“Where are you? Let me come get you.” He offered.
Because I was so upset, I said yes and sent him my location. When I was approached by a woman, I almost flinched like she was someone else out to get me.
“Did your bag get stolen, Miss?” She asked, I snapped my head in her direction. Did she see something? I nodded profusely and she pressed her lips together and pointed at something.
“They dumped most of the content out, I saw them running but I hadn't thought to yell to get someone to stop them.” She said to me.
I rushed over to the dropped pile and sure enough they dumped my things out as they ran away. I could tell because it was pretty scattered, they must not have seen my credit card because my wallet was unzipped and the cash was missing but the card was still there. I thanked the woman and she left right after helping me pick up my stuff. I must look crazy crying in the middle of a public place but I have no idea what I am going to do now. I can't believe I was robbed, I know it happens but I just couldn't fathom it.
“Brianna?” I heard a deep voice calling out and when I turned around, Roy was already jogging up to me.
He pulled me into him and gave me a nice hug that I very much needed right now and he smells good.
“I don't know what I am going to do? That is not even my purse, I have to give it back and now I can't. I don't even know what I am going to do.” I started spiraling again.
“Whose bag is? I am sure they will understand.” He told me, I snorted a laugh. I couldn't help it.
“Roy, that is a five thousand bag, they won't understand.” I shook my head.
I better explained the app I use and how once you rent a bag, you are completely responsible for theft or damages. I am always so careful with my bags but I just wasn't thinking when I saw the woman pass out.
“Scumbag do shit like that all the time, I am sorry that happened to you. We will replace the bag.” He rubbed my back. I wiped under my eyes to be sure I wasn't a mess with dark mascara running down my face.
How does he expect me to pay for this bag without me having to grove and ask my brother to do it for me. I really don't want to have to ask for that much money. It is not fair to him to have to pay for my mistake, I just have to take it out of my savings account, I guess. That is a huge hit to my bank account but what else do I do? I didn't want to tell him I don't have that kind of money, so I didn't comment more on his words that we would replace it. I just let him hug me while my hands were full with the content of my stolen bag.
“I don't know why I called you, I just panicked.” I admitted to him.
“It is fine, I am glad you did.” He assured me.
“You said it happened inside here?” He thumbed over to the restaurant, I nodded and sniffled some more.
“Hold on,” he said, walking inside.
I peeked through the glass and saw him talking to the people at the register. At first, they were shaking their heads no at whatever he was saying but then he placed his hands on the counter and leaned forward. Whatever he said to them, they straightened their backs out and started nodding yes. He kept his hands flat on the counter as he clearly waited for something. What is up to? I would have gone in after him if I wasn't mortified at my crying, panicking self who went around the entire place looking for my bag and asking the patron what they saw.
When he returned back to me, he said nothing about what happened there. He just turned me around and started walking me to the car.
