Chapter 52: Your Are Only For Private Eyes

Brianna

The cocktails were cool and there was a great variety to choose from. Once we ordered, it gave me time to bug him about whatever secret set up he planned for tonight.

“Tell me,” I pressed, he remained stone-faced. You can't break this man.

“Why not?” I whined.

“I didn't take you as one who wouldn't like surprises.” He shamed me for my actions and my face went flat.

“Fine,” I grabbed my drink and took a sip before leaning forward on tbe small table between us.

“Then answer my other question. What are you and my brother hiding from me?” He looked away from me and fisted his glass. If he becomes this irked, it means he did has something to hide.

“I can handle whatever it is, I told you guys all my secrets. You know everything now.” I pointed out.

“Enjoy your evening, Brianna.” He shut me down.

I stopped to study him and then shook my head. The next woes I had just blurted out of my mouth before I could think better of it.

“Is this some kind of a date?” His eyes snapped over to mine and held me in place.

“It isn't,” he denied it.

I glanced at my lap to hide my pink tinted cheeks. I heard the scratchy sound of him running his hand down his hair and when he began fixing his suit jacket, I knew it was because he feels slightly out of control and is trying to regain it.

“You are my best friend's little sister, you will be incorporated into my life since Bryce and I are often together. I can treat his little sister to some tourist attractions in the new city, can't I?” He said and I nodded.

“I guess I am just surprised since you have told me multiple times to stay away from you.”

“In a different sense.” He shut me down again.

“Does my brother know about this?” I asked and he paused.

“He doesn't,” I pressed my lips together and nodded.

“And is it a secret?”

“No,” he clenched his jaw, he doesn't want Bryce to know and he is full of shít right now.

“So, if I wanted to mention it to him, I should go ahead?” I challenged him as he often does to me. He took a swig of his drink and studied the crowd. He isn't going to answer me.

“He left you under my care.”

I didn't know why he mentioned that, does it mean that it justifies taking me out today?

“I have taken care of myself for a long time, you know. I don't need to be entrusted to anyone, my brother seems to forget that and worries about my safety far too often. Almost like he knows I am in danger or something.”

I said a word that crossed my mind since day one. Back when I was told we were living in that because it was secure.

“It was natural for an older brother to want to protect his sister.” He shrugged.

With two fingers, he lifted his hand and nodded to his empty glass. The bartender scurried off to refill our glasses. I have seen her glancing his way all night, actually, most people look at him when he enters a room. He has that type of presence that is important to ignore. He is also the most handsome man I know so women just can't help themselves from gawking at him. I can relate.

We ended up spending two hours at this beautiful rooftop bar but it still only brought us to just eight o'clock. His set up wasn't until nine.

“I suppose I will take you home, we can reconvene around eight-thirty to head over to the place.” He said, I didn't want to part from him, though.

“The night is still warm, let's go for a walk.” I offered.

“A walk?” He said and I nodded to see if I could sway him to stay.

He guided me out of the bar, placing a hand on my back and agreed to take a walk with me. We stayed silent at first, both of us observing our surroundings and all the people going about their lives. We walked down the street with no set destination at all. But eventually, we will turn around and head in the direction of the car. I told him how Phantom Grills reminded me of a similar place back in Asaba where I actually ended up seeing a celebrity. It was more common than you would think if you were in the right place. I don't know where my random thoughts pop up but I suddenly asked..

“Do you participate in your sex club?” He did a double take.

“Yes, I have before.” His response made me feel funny inside.

“What if I went there?” I asked him, his jaw tightened when I looked up and his hand came to my lower back to guide me away from the oncoming people I almost walked into for not paying attention.

“You can't go there.” He deadpanned.

“Well, why not?” He took me by the arm and pulled us aside.

“Because that isn't the type of place for you.” He said like he even knew me.

“Maybe I want something new.” I pressed, I don't know why, I just wanted to go.

“Brianna?” His tone was full of warning.

“Contrary to popular belief, you can't tell me what to do.” I rolled my eyes, he grabbed my jaw and brought my face closer to him. It made my heart flutter.

“What would Bryce say?” He used him against me.

“That is my private life, he isn't privy to that information either.” I removed my chin from his hold.

“You aren't made to be displayed.” He took a step closer to me, it made me tense.

“What am I made for, then?”

His hand came to my waist and pulled me an inch closer. He lowered his head which only made it more gruff.

“Private eyes,” he whispered closer to my temple.

“Whose eyes?” I coaxed him.

“No one if I have anything to do with it.” He deadpanned.

“If I wasn't Bryce's sister, would it be your eyes?” I asked.

“Yes, it would be.” He admitted, it made me swallow hard.

“So you are keeping me for yourself when you yourself don't even want to go there with me? It hardly sounds fair.” I shook my head and looked back at all the passing people. Our conversation was lost to the crowd.

“It is not that I can't, not that I don't.” He corrected me.

“Same shit,” I scoffed

His hand came up and cupped my face. Using his thumb to brush it across my bottom lip. He is probably smearing my lipstick.

“Then, you can't claim me. I can go where I want, the sex club or anywhere.” His nostrils flared and I could see I was getting to him.

“You won't make it past the threshold.” He said before grabbing my wrist and turning us back around to head to the car.

“What if you showed me, curb my curiosity.” I threw him off by saying that. He stopped and towered over me again.
