Chapter 237: It Isn't What You Think 

Callan

I used to be an asshole and drilled it into this girl's head that this was only a physical attraction. We didn't do intimate hand holding or touching. Maybe towards the end but then it ended so quickly. Before Jane could even answer her, I watched her eyes snap to something behind us.

“Callan?” I heard Hannah's more assertive voice now. For the fuck sake, she better not start.

“What, Hannah?” I didn't sound very friendly about it.

“I need to speak with you, stop ignoring me.” He snapped.

I quickly glanced down at Brianna who had already unlatched from my arm. I took her hand in mine so she wouldn't walk away.

“I just asked you what you want.” I wasn't ignoring her. She looked at Brianna, Jane and then back to me.

“Fine,” she said, jogging down the rest of the stairs she had been lingering on and meeting us at the sidewalk. 

I regretted asking her in front of the girls because I don't like the way she responded. I don't like the look on her face right now. 

“Hannah?” I was about to warn her to tread lightly but she spoke over me.

“Since you want to do this here, I am late for my period.” She said and my gut sank. Brianna immediately pulled her hand from mine.

“Why does that matter to him?” Brianna asked but she looked like she already knew the answer to that question.

“Brianna,” I tried stepping in the way of Hannah but the girl just had to push things.

“Because he fucked me without condom and now I am super late on my period, so…”She trialed off. I watched as shock and hurt flashed across Brianna's face. Fuck.

“Brianna, hold on.” I wasn't ready to address Hannah yet, because now Brianna knows I fucked her without a condom and I know what she thinks that means.

“Brianna,” I called after her, she tried rushing away. Hannah grabbed my arm.

“Callan, are you joking? We need to talk about this.” She hissed at me for wanting to get away.

“Can you fucking hold on, Brianna.” I followed her down the sidewalk and at the same time, Jane's ride pulled up. I wouldn't let her open the door.

“Callan, let go!” She shouted at me.

“Brianna, it isn't what you are thinking.” I let her know.

Fuck how do I even say this? I fucked her raw to drive that bastard crazy and I shouldn't have cum inside her but I did. But I was picturing Brianna the whole time. How do I tell her that? That I chained a man up, made him watch me fuck his ex fiance and then gutted the man to death. How the fúck do I explain this?

“Let go, I said!” She screamed at me when I wouldn't move from the door. The driver warned me to back off but I told him to shut up.

Jane came and started hitting me to move away and when Brianna slipped in, I had to chase the fucking car half down the street before she disappeared around the corner.

Brianna POV

I was sick to my stomach, my heart was beating so fast and my gut had soured at the word. Hannah told me he fucked ejr without a condom, he claimed her. Then he had the audacity to do it again with me after? I felt disgusted, who knows if either one of them is diseased now. I let him inside me without a barrier and I am disgusted that he did to her what he claimed he only did to me.

“Brianna, breathe, babes.” Jane rubbed my back as my breathing was audible and unsteady.

“He claimed her, he said he only did that with me because that is his claim over a woman. He claimed her as his, Jane.” I shot up in my seat from where I had been half bent over.

“I am so sorry, he is so fucking stupid.” She continues to rub my back. The driver was slimy but I don't even care that he is here.

“I am sick to my stomach, he touched her without…then touched me without. I am probably diseasd now, they both sleep around, I can't even fucking believe this. I really thought we had finally turned a corner.” I started laughing because I was so shocked that Callan had unprotected sex with Hannah and now she is late on her period.

“She is pregnant, with my luck she is going to be pregnant.” I laughed.

“Okay, the laughing is making me more worried.” She stopped trying to rub my back and looked at me.

“I am so dumb, I am so damn stupid for thinking I finally had Callan where I wanted him to be. I thought…” I laughed again but sardonically this time.

“Whatever his excuse is, I don't see how it could justify this. If that was something special that only you two did then he shouldn't have done that with Hannah and then try to pursue you again. He gives too many damn mixed signals. He is the king of it.” Jane slapped her hands on her lap and slumped into the back seat.

I just stared at the ground for a second, it is a very clean sedan. I should rate him five stars, my mind just stayed blank that way and I couldn't take it. I just shut down completely.

“You know he is going to show up at my apartment, right?” Jane peeked at my bowed head.

“Better than our apartment, I can't do this in front of Bryce, I just can't. If I could hide, I would but Callan will only make matters worse. Fúck him, honestly Jane, fúck this guy.” I slapped the passenger side seat and then quickly apologized to the man.

“It is okay, sounds like a rough night.” The man was kind to me.

When she showed up at Jane's apartment, we quickly went in and locked the door. Let him throw his tantrum outside, he can't justify this even if he says it is something he did before he and I got back together. It still wouldn't matter because that was our thing. He swore he did that with only me, I stupidly said it the other day and he didn't correct me. He was going to lie to me and hope I never found out that he claimed another woman. Thinking of his cum inside her…no, it is too much and she is late. She is late on her period and I just know where this is headed. I know it because I have the worst fucking luck and the universe refuse to let me ever be happy for longer than the blink of an eye. Why?

I didn't even realize I was just standing in the middle of the living room half shivering with anger and something else. I didn't realize it until I heard the hash knocking on the door.

“Open the damn door, Jane!” Callan said right away.

Jane tucked her feet under herself as she settled onto the couch with a glass of wine in her hand. She pointed at the second one she left on the coffee table for me. The townhouse apartments are very much a Pinterest apartment and you know what I mean by that. Very well put together and aesthetically pleasing, all soft tones in the main rooms but Jane's room has a little more to it. The girl is a diva you wouldn't expect less.

“Jane!” I heard her brother shouting through the door.

She took another sip of her wine and didn't react. I pinched the bridge of my nose and tried to calm my breathing.

“Brianna!” I heard the bang of his angry fist on the door.

“He is the big bad wolf, Brianna. He may huff, puff and he may blow the house down.” Jane swirled her glass. Is she tipsy? She was drinking at her sister's house.

“Go away!” I shouted through the door. He banged on it again which startled me.

“Open the fucking door, Brianna. Can you wait a damn minute and let me talk to you?” He was close to the door, I could feel how his voice filtered through it.

“No, Callan. I honestly can't even speak to you right now or I might just seriously lose my shit.” I hit the door back.

“Brianna, it isn't what you think. Just open the door and talk to me.” He tried calming his voice down but I know better.
