I wake up every day to a good morning text from Brianna with a picture of her outfit attached. There is almost an eight hour time difference between us, so the text is usually coming in at like two in the morning. It gives me something to look at when I first wake up, but by the time I got to it, it was already noon. I always respond with a little something, calling her sexy or something like that.

“What is that?” He shoved at his sleeves, waving his phone around and standing right in front of my television, not caring that he blocked my view.

“My aunt reached out to me, she wanted to tell me that my father was in the hospital. At first, I honestly thought it was a ploy like he used with Brianna, but she sent me pictures to look at.” He walked up to me and handed me his phone. 

I swiped through a couple of the pictures and saw a deeply bruised and busted man. I just hummed in response.

“Who got him?” I asked, he took a long hard look at me before replying.

“She said loan sharks, he has up to his eyeballs in debt, I am sure.”

“I told my aunt not to talk about this with Brianna, but it was too late. She already sent the same message to her and I don't know how she feels about it. We keep missing each other's call, she has been busy as hell and she called while we were in a meeting, so?” He shrugged.

“If she didn't call you crying, then maybe she is just alright with it.” I gave him a consulat outcome and nodded like maybe he agreed.
