Chapter 220: Is She Leaving Again?

I was in a business meeting with some of my legal business ventures. My mind was not in it though and I think Angelo could sense it. We ended the meeting early and the people left until it was only Angelo and I in a borrowed conference room. I tapped the table with my fingers and motioned to get up but he stopped me.

“Tell me what is on your mind because I see it is something.” He called me out.

“Just the business.” I waved around.

“I will give you a million dollars if you can repeat anything that has been said within the last hour.” He challenged me. My face flattered and he looked smug.

I leaned back in the chair and wiped my hand down my face. I am full of shit but you can never hide my inked hands. I am never just a businessman.

“Brianna and I…” why couldn't I say this out loud?

“You?” He leaned against the table and looked at me to continue.

“We fucked.” I deadpanned, his eyes went wide.

“Wow, remind me of that. When and how?” He asked me, I huffed but told him everything. I needed to tell someone because I was confident as fuck about it.

“I thought her coming to me and wanting to have sex was like a gesture. I didn't realize she just wanted sex and to leave right after, I don't know what the fúck I thought.” I sucked my teeth and stood up.

“Why am I fucking gossiping? Let's go.” I snapped at him. When he stepped in my way, I was close to knocking his head against the door frame.

“No, cut the shit and stop avoiding the topic. I know exactly what you mean, you thought if she was coming to you, it was because things were going to change, right? You haven't admitted this out loud, but you want Brianna, right?” He asked.

I stood there like an idiot.

“I don't want her, I just want…”

What do I want?

“I missed the sex, it was a good sex.” I told him, stupidly.

“You are a fucking tool, saying thanks for the fuck. I know you were upset that she was left, so stop kidding yourself.” He sucked his teeth at me.

This was making me very uncomfortable, so I pushed past him and started leaving the building.

“Stop pretending she doesn't matter to you, bro. You are literally only making yourself miserable, you aren't doing anyone any favors.” He followed after me, I just kept walking. My heart started beating a little faster.

“You are pushing her right into Vortex's arm.” He told me just as we reached the door. I whirled around and grabbed him but quickly released him. What am I doing?

“Just shut up, please for my sanity. Shut up.” I shook my head and continued walking to the car. It is hot out and he is hovering around me, I had to take my suit jacket off and start rolling up my sleeve.

“Callan, you pushed her away because she was gone and you couldn't handle it. But she is not gone anymore, so what the fuck are you doing now?” He asked me.

“For the fuck sake, Angelo.” I slapped the top of my car once we got to it.

“No, I have been complacent about this because you get so worked up but if Brianna hooks up with you, maybe she got freak out afterwards. But if she came to you, maybe it isn't as over as you both swear it is. Don't miss the opportunity to confront this, she came to you, Callan.”

The bastard was making sense and I hated it. He is an idiot, since when is he the voice of reason?  

I opened the car door and grabbed the cigarettes I am trying not to smoke. I have started smoking ever since I came back from London, stress from the job.

“Here we go.” He rounded the car to stand with me while I lit the damn thing. He knows what this means, I am overwhelmed.

“Do you hate Brianna Fletcher, Callan?” He asked me outright. 

I took a drag of the cigarettes and leaned against the car door, I couldn't look at him when I replied. So I looked out at the street.

“No,” I mumbled.

“And, do you regret her?” He asked next, I grit my teeth.

“Do you regret touching Brianna Fletcher?” He pressed on. I pulled another cigarette.

“No,” he nodded and smoothed out his suit when he saw he was getting somewhere with me.

“Callan, do you regret leaving London?” He asked, I looked away.

I haven't even let myself ask that question, how does he think he has any right to ask me that?

“Fine, forget that one. Did you want her to stay the other nigh, after sex?” He clarified, I feel ridiculous. These are stupid questions, I took another hit of my cigarettes and flicked it out.

“Let's go.” I turned for the door, he sucked his teeth when he realized he didn't get anywhere with me.

Fine, I don't hate her and I don't regret her. So what? It doesn't mean anything.

The driver home was quiet, which is exactly what I needed. Only when we got closer to my building did Angelo let me know that Bryce was still at his apartment and he would meet us at the restaurant in a bit.

“Should we even go that early? What the fuck are we going to do? Sit at that corner table, waiting for everyone to be late and piss me off?” I asked him. I know how those guys are.

“What do you want to do? Catch a card game?” He asked if I wanted to go to my club's back room and gamble with him. I considered it, but he asked me to hold on when his phone started ringing.

“Yes? Like this coming weekend? Umm, not sure yet…things are mostly in order.” He spoke, I don't like that he glanced at me with a weird fucking expression.

“Umm, sure. I will tell him.” He said before hanging up. I snapped my head in his direction right away.

“So, Bryce was asking if things are in order for Buguma, he says if we were going to go through with all that he wants to do it this weekend because Brianna won't be around.” He told me, my thoughts lingered on the last part.

“Where will she be?” I asked. 

When he didn't answer right away, I started working myself up. Without thinking about it, I veered to the direction of the apartment.

“Where is she or going, Angelo?” My heart was thudding in my chest.

“To London.” He huffed when he realized not telling me would work me up. 

London? She is going to London? Why is Brianna going to London?

“For how long?” I tried looking at him but I had to turn towards the road again.

“I don't know, Bryce just said let's do the thing this weekend. That is all he said.” He shrugged. Is she leaving again? My hand gripped the wheel harder, until my knuckles were painful and he noticed it.

“Hey, Callan. I don't think it is a big deal, man. I think she is just going for…” he didn't know what to say.

“For what? You don't know, so don't think anything.” I snapped at him.

“What is working you up, dude?” He could see my agitation was only increasing. She is leaving again? No, she couldn't, already? Again? No!

When we got to the building, Angelo quickly followed me inside.

“What the hell are you doing? What are you going to just burst into their apartment and ask? I will ask, Callan. Stay out of it.” He told me, I shoved him out of my way and went into the elevator.

He missed it by a second, which gave me a minute to go up alone. When I got to the door, I didn't waste time banging on it. If she thinks she is going to come to my penthouse to fuck me one more time before running off to London for another internship or whatever bullshit it is, no, no. I knocked harder and the door swung open. She looked surprised to see me standing here fuming and looking at her with crazy eyes.

“My brother is in the shower.” She said to me.

“Where are you going, Brianna?” 

I wasn't here for him, she gave me a confused look but I already stepped inside which made her step back.

“What the hell are you talking about?” She didn't understand the question or she was playing dumb.

Is she really going to do this to me again? Again? 

“Where the fúck are you going?” I snapped.

I didn't mean to but the thought was really fucking bothering me for some reason. She took a few steps back and crossed her arms in defense.

“This is my house, what are you yelling about?”
