Off Limits, Brother's Best Friend Chapter 45
Chapter 45: He Is Mine To Kill
Callan
I sat down to a card game since my day has been a long one, I just wanted to unwind. Bryce was across the table from me and we had my Mechanic, the professional cheat that I acquired when I caught him trying to steal from me. I have him the option to either die or work for me. We were up against a couple of men who weren't in any of my crews but loved to come here and gamble.
They would drop good money too, my Mechanic was going to screw them for their cash without them even realizing it and then he was going to split the profit with me. I played along, winning some and losing some to him. Either way, I get it all in the end. They all grumbled when they lost their money and demanded a new game. My men were shuffling the cards and Bryce was beside me with a cigarette between his teeth. He was ready to play the next hand when my phone buzzed. I had ordered David to go pick up Brianna from work so I wondered why he was calling me.
“Yes?” I answered, but paused when he didn't respond.
Instead, I heard voices in the background. Is this a butt dial? The room was loud, so I stepped out momentarily ready to speak when he started talking.
“Mr. Ezekiel, there is no need to hold a gun to Brianna. I am doing as you asked.” He said it out loud. He wanted me to listen to him.
A gun pointed at Brianna? My hand gripped the phone harder and I muted my line so I wouldn't alert that motherfucker to the phone David was obviously secretly pulled. I am on his speed dial and I am glad for it.
“Then shut the fuck up and do it.” I heard that idiot's voice. That piece of shit I should have taken care of the first time
He has Brianna and one of the men held up at gunpoint. I ran back inside and grabbed Bryce.
“Come on, we have to go now.” I said.
By the tone, he knew some serious shit was going down. The men around the poker table looked at each other and then to us. I don't give a fuck about the winning, I ran out and he followed me.
“What is going on?” He asked.
“I don't have the time to explain it all at once but your sister's ex-boyfriend is holding her and David up at gunpoint and it sounded like they were driving somewhere.” I put the phone on the loudspeaker so he could hear too.
“What?” He grabbed my phone.
“If I tell you I will come with you, will you put the gun away and leave David out of this?” I heard her ask.
Don't do this Brianna. Don't sacrifice yourself for him. We jumped into the car and my knuckles were red on the wheel as I began to drive.
“Track her phone.” I told him, I know he has her phone set up to keep tabs on her.
Thank goodness because now we will find them before they have a chance to get too far. My man was smart, though. David started naming the street they were on, I increased the speed to catch up to them.
“Fuck,” I cursed when we got caught up in the traffic.
“What the fuck is going on, man? How do you know that was my sister's ex-boyfriend?” Bryce asked me the question I didn't want to answer.
I promise Brianna that I wouldn't tell her brother about all this but I need him for this take down. I need him to ensure things go my way without the girl getting hurt. I started telling him bits and pieces, that I had come across this asshole being rough with his sister and bashed his face yesterday. Obviously, the man clearly isn't well in the head because he didn't learn his lesson the first time.
“Shut up,” Bryce stopped me when voices started up again.
It was David naming a bunch of side streets and immediately I knew where he was going to take him. I own that little neighborhood, if we were going to do a take down, that would be the place to do it. People would look the other way around.
“I am going to remind you why you loved me.” He said to her.
I want to jumped through the speaker and kill him, Bryce gripped my phone and kept it up close to us so we could hear them in the background. Since the phone was with David, we couldn't hear everything going on back seat. David mentioned traffic and back roads again, I cut out of traffic and started heading to that point. Swerving in and out into side streets.
“I don't know what you are crying for, I am going to give you everything you want. You always got your way.” He muttered again.
“Brianna is crying.” Bryce said.
I was focused on other things, what would he give her? A beating? Because I know there were domestic violence calls made. This idiot is going to wish he never met me when I am through with him.
“Say it, admit how good I was with you.” He was forcing her.
“You still love me, don't you?”
“I will kill him myself for touching my sister.” Bryce muttered.
That is not happening, he is mine to kill but he is going to ask some questions if I pressed on it too much so for now I kept my mouth shut.
“When they pull up to a light in our town, we will both sneak to either side of the backseat windows. I don't know where they are in regards to seating so we will cover our bases that way.” I muttered.
We have done many missions together, this is nothing but Brianna is involved so it isn't nothing. Bryce was fidgeting in his seat, I know he was nervous because he is worried for his baby sister.
“Why didn't you tell me about yesterday's incident?” He asked, I glanced at him quickly and then turned back to the road.
“Is now the time for this?” I took the easy way out. He sighed but nodded in agreement. We had better things to worry about.
The car wasn't making much sounds which irked me more than knowing what that bastard had to say. At least, I knew the gist of how he was treating her and if she was alright.
“There is David's car.”Bryce slapped my arm, I gripped the wheel tight and waited for the car to come to a stop.
When it did, I parked mine in the middle of the road, sneaking down the side behind some parked cars and making my way up to the back seat without alerting anyone except for David who knew to look out for us. When the window trolled down, I shoved my hand so fast, my barrel ended up bumping into his head. He had her on his lap and she looked afraid and uncomfortable. Ezekiel tried to plan the big bad wolf with me, but that is not happening. I said something to Bryce in our language and he followed my lead.
