Off Limits, Brother's Best Friend Chapter 64
Chapter 64: Don't Freak Out, You Will Do Fine
Callan
“Did you fuck her or something? Why would you get the invite?” Angelo asked as he took a peek at the invitation card again.
“Yes, I habe fucked her but that is hardly the point. Jimoh likes to kiss my ass, he knows my statu and he wants part of it.” I gave them the gist of it.
Some of these billionaire types seem bored with their lives and want a little excitement. They hear about a big bad Don and they want to do business with you, they want to feel a thrill. It is foolish and not something I would give into, I don't seek tgrill in my business. I make good business choices, the lifestyle attached to that is just part of the package of organized crime. Still that doesn't stop old rich men from wanting to kiss my ass and be on my good side.
“Are you going?” Bryce asked, I snorted and tucked the invitation into my suit jacket pocket.
“Probably not,” he rubbed his chin in thought.
“Who is the daughter? Why doesn't the name ring a bell?” He asked.
“Ava Ibrahim, I am not sure, I would have introduced you. I know Jimoh through his father and I don't really bring him around our business, I have kept in touch with him through those silly charities I am forced to attend and stuff like that.”
Since I am a prominent member of the this city, I have to show face sometime and go to things, like police department charities or other good cause where people with money try to impress other people with money by pretending they give a shit about actually shared their wealth with those less fortunate. That is a load of shit. If the elite actually came together and gave the type of money I know they can afford, we could fix most of the world's problems. But that isn't how the world works, they want theirs to ve an obvious gap and they don't want to be amongst the people. They want to be one percent. I won't even pretend I give a shit because I don't, I like making money, I like being a boss and running the type of shit I run. I don't schmooze with other rich people and pretend I care about this demented world and all its people. If people get in my way, I run them down. Either is just a business transaction including those police charities and billionaires socialite birthday parties. It is too teetering on the line of everyone getting along. You wash my back and I will wash yours type of stuff.
“Is she hot? If you fúck her that means she is hot.” My cousin muttered.
“She is alright, typical in my opinio.” I shrugged it off. My phone buzzed so I glanced at it and I could feel his eyes lingering on me through.
“What?” I didn't bother looking up.
“Let's go, I want to party with some hot rich socialite chicks.” He grinned.
“I was invited, not you.” I reminded him.
“I saw the card, you have a plus one.” He called me out.
“For a date, are you my date?” I asked, shoving my phone back into my pocket.
“I will dress nice and pretty for you.” He grinned at me.
I would have whacked him if he didn't already anticipate that and dodged me. I heard him laughing all the way inside the warehouse.
“No, if there was, I would obviously go.” I shook my head.
A thought crossed my mind and I paused for a second.
“Actually,” I began, the words stuck in my throat, Bryce stayed, looking at me.
“I know some of the people who would be on this type of guest list, it is not one of interest to our business but…” I hesitated on bringing this up, because I don't usually involve myself in other people's business. Bryce knows this, so I wasn't sure how he would feel about me even thinking of helping his sister out. He might read into it.
“Are you going to spit it out or?” He said, I cleared my throat and straightened my jacket.
“Ava knows a lot of people in the fashion world, models and other socialites who know others who party with people who work for designers or magazines. You know how it works.” I said, letting him come to his own conclusion.
“Fashion world? What? Do you mean Brianna?” He pieced it together, it is obvious.
Why else would I mention the fashion world? She is the only person in common with us that would care for such a thing.
“Just a passing thought, I could introduce her to some people if you thought it might help her start her career. I remained disinterested but I did point out that this is for her future. It is what she wants and he know it.
“You would be able to do that? Introduce her to some people in the industry?” He asked, he shoved his hand in his pocket and by the way he furrowed his eyebrows, I knew he was thinking about it.
“You know the kind of people I know, I could open doors for her. I have just kept out of your business, you haven't asked that of me yet.” I pointed out. He knows I know half of the city and he knows I know people who Brianna would like to know.
“I mean, I hadn't really even thought about it until just now. I forget your known people in that realm of work.” He ran a hand through his hair and shrugged.
“Would you really introduce her to some people? And you would go to the party?” He asked, I looked around at my men at work instead of him when I replied.
“Sure, at the very least the food will be exceptional. Jimoh isn't cheap.” In his silence, I knew he had just agreed.
“Thanks, man. Brianna is going to flip out.” He clapped me on the back. I am not doing this for her, I am doing this for Bryce. Yet for some reason, I kind of felt like an asshole when he thanked me.
Probably because I know I have touched his sister one too many times already. I know I have been a shitty friend in crossing those lines when he and I vowed we wouldn't.
“Do you want to tell her or should I?” I heard him ask from behind me. I turned to him as he was headed for his car.
“Be the hero big brother. You tell her.” I gave him a nod. He smirked and chuckled, nodding his head as he agreed to break the news to her.
***
I hadn't been there when he broke the news to Brianna that I was attending a party where there would be people worth networking with. If she wanted to start getting her foot in the doors of the fashion world, this could be the start. I heard she flipped out, but in a good way. I know, because she called me no less than ten minutes after he told her and asked me about a hundred questions on where the event would take place, what she should wear and who she should study up on so she would be able to have a thoughtful conversation with whatever connection I knew. She asked me so many questions that I can't even remember them all, she has been buzzing ever since then. I haven't actually seen the gown she was going to be wearing tonight but I did tell her the event was white tie. I was in my usual suit, nothing special except maybe the quality of my suit being a higher caliber than my usual already designer suits. I told Bryce I would pick her up at the door which I was knocking at now. And when it opened, it was my buddy who answered.
“She hasn't surfaced from her room, I have no idea if she is ready yet.” He told me, I walked in anyway to see if we could get her out of her room.
“Brianna?” He called, he walked to her room door and knocked.
“Brianna, Callan is already here.” He informed her.
“Everyone needs to look perfect, you can wait for another minute.” I heard her huffing at him. I could see her but I could tell she was flustered.
“You look fine,” he said to her.
“Fine? I don't want to look just fine. I want to look good, it is a high class party, Bryce. This is important, they will judge my appearance, that is how the world works.” She was spiraling, I walked up behind Bryce and waved him out of the way. He eyed me but stepped aside.
“Brianna, I am coming in.” I warned her and when I opened the door more than a crack Bryce had opened, I didn't immediately see her until she walked out of the bathroom.
Oh my goodness, she was in a white gown with a hint of a shimmer on the fabric that made her sparkle. It was a mermaid style dress that was tightly fitted around her chest and curves and eventually fanned out after the curve of her hips so that the material flowed elegantly.
There was a slit up one leg which exposed tan flesh, the sweetheart neckline gave her a tasteful amount of cleavage and her body looked incredible. Actually, all of her did, her hair was done up nicely in an updo and she wore long dangling earrings since her hair was back and her lips looked to be burgundy and complimented her complexion perfectly. I just stood there for a second taking her in, I had to swallow and fucking say something before my friend finds it odd that I am just standing in the doorway of his sister's room, gawking at her.
“Everything looks to be in order, you fit in perfectly.” I said to her, without calling her drop dead fucking gorgeous. I can't, not in front of her brother, but if she is paying any attention at all, she will see the fire in my eyes that tells her exactly how I think she looks.
“See, Brianna. Callan knew about this kind of crowd and he said you are fine.”
I stepped out of his way so I could avoid staring and her eyes had met mine, she had gone quiet for a second. When he spoke, it snapped her out of it and she started fussing again. Although I couldn't hear what it was all about since I walked halfway across the apartment to look out the window.
“Finally,” Bryce huffed, when I turned around, I got an even better look at her now that she was in this brightly lit room with the city skyline twinkling at her back.
She really does look stunning, my eyes took in every inch of her and I cleared my throat and told her to hurry up and let's go since her brother was just standing there between us. I heard him muttering something to her.
“Don't freak out, you will do fine and don't bug Callan too much, okay?”
When I let her walk ahead of me, I could see that the back of her dress was cut out. Instead two straps of the fabric held the integrity of the dresses zipper down the back, it gave a little peep of her skin and made her classy dress slightly more enticing and fashionable. I wanted to touch every inch of her but I behaved myself. I led her to the car and let her sit inside without ever placing my hand on her and I could feel how nervous she was. I told her not to be, though I doubt that helped.
