The Human Girl Who Tamed Alpha King Chapter 111
JACE
God, I was exhausted. The move had taken more out of me than I expected. Settling an entire pack into a new territory wasn't exactly a walk in the park, but at least we'd managed to get everyone here safely. The castle loomed behind me as I stood outside the packhouse, watching the sun climb higher over our new territory.
A week had passed since we'd arrived, and things were finally starting to settle. Most of our members had established themselves in their new homes, but we were still waiting on the final group.
"They should be here by noon," I said, glancing at Aria who stood beside me. The morning breeze tousled her hair as she gazed toward the road leading into our territory.
"I can't wait to see Luna Seraphina again," Aria said, her eyes bright with excitement. "It's been ages since we've had a proper conversation."
Marcus joined us a few days after our arrival, his tall figure looming over the stone steps. "The scouts report they're making good time. They crossed the eastern border twenty minutes ago."
"Excellent. I want everyone settled in before the full moon," I replied.
Our conversation halted as a sleek black car approached, coming to a stop at the base of the steps. Luna Seraphina emerged, elegant as always, her presence commanding attention without effort.
Aria practically bounced on her toes. "Seraphina!"
The two women embraced warmly. I exchanged a knowing glance with Marcus and nodded toward the packhouse. "Let them catch up. We have preparations to finish anyway."
An hour later, one of my guards jogged up to me as I inspected the newly reinforced walls surrounding our compound.
"Alpha, the final group is approaching. They're crossing through Bordertown now."
I straightened, brushing dust from my hands. "Gather the welcoming party. I want them to feel at home immediately."
Five minutes later, three SUVs rolled into the circular drive. The vehicles stopped, and doors opened as our pack members emerged, looking tired but relieved. I recognized each face—warriors, healers, and their families, all hand-selected for their loyalty and skills.
I stepped forward, feeling the weight of leadership settle on my shoulders. "Welcome back to the Ancient Moon Shadow. I know the journey was long, so I'll keep this brief. Welcome home."
They all lowered their heads respectfully, a gesture that still felt strange after all this time. I'd never been one for excessive formality, but tradition mattered to the pack.
Aria moved to my side, her voice warm and practical. "Welcome everyone. A guard team will escort you to your new residences shortly. We've stocked each home with essentials—food, toiletries, clean linens. Take time to settle in and rest."
The tension visibly drained from their faces as several voiced their thanks. Guards stepped forward to direct families to their new homes. As the crowd dispersed, Marcus and Seraphina excused themselves to check on their own residence, leaving Aria and me to head back to ours.
"That went well," I said, taking her hand as we walked. "One less thing to worry about."
"They trust you," she replied simply. "That makes everything easier."
We could hear the sounds of the game console before we even opened the front door. Following the noise, we found Aurora and Lucas in the game room, engrossed in a colorful racing game featuring cartoon characters.
I leaned against the doorframe, watching my daughter's concentrated expression as she maneuvered her character through a beach course. Eliana sat on the couch beside them, smiling at their competitive banter.
"Hey, Lucas," I called. "Can you do me a favor?"
He glanced up, not pausing the game. "Sure, what do you need?"
Aria and Eliana exchanged amused glances, already catching on to what I was doing.
"You already did it," I replied with a slight smirk.
Aurora's character crossed the finish line just then, and she jumped up with a squeal. "Yes! I won!"
Lucas turned back to the screen in disbelief, then shot me an accusatory look.
"Your dad cheated," he told Aurora with a good-natured grin.
Aurora giggled, her smile lighting up the room. "Rematch?"
They played one more round, with Lucas edging out a victory this time. As they set the controllers down, I noticed the significant look that passed between Lucas and Eliana.
"We actually have something to tell you guys," Lucas said, taking Eliana's hand.
Aria settled beside me on the loveseat, her expression curious. "What is it?"
Lucas took a deep breath. "Eliana's pregnant. With twins."
Aurora clapped her hands excitedly. "I'm gonna have cousins!"
"Oh my God, congratulations!" Aria exclaimed, immediately rising to hug them both.
I smiled, truly happy for them. "That's fantastic news. Congratulations."
Lucas and Eliana looked at each other, their smiles tinged with something else—concern, maybe even fear. They thanked us, but I could sense there was more.
Lucas cleared his throat. "Alpha, we'd like to request your permission for something."
Aria settled back beside me. "What is it, Lucas?"
LUCAS
My hands shook uncontrollably. I'd been rehearsing this speech for days, but now that the moment had arrived, my mouth felt dry as sandpaper. Eliana squeezed my hand, giving me strength.
"There's a high probability both babies will be werewolves," I began, forcing my voice to remain steady. "The werewolf gene is dominant, and Eliana has already accepted my mark."
I watched Jace's expression carefully, trying to gauge his reaction. His face remained neutral, but I knew he understood where this was going.
"Pregnancy is already taxing on a woman's body," I continued. "But carrying werewolf pups is even more demanding. Eliana is carrying two."
Sweat beaded on my forehead. This was it.
"We're requesting permission to turn Eliana into a werewolf," I said, "She faces a significant risk of not surviving this pregnancy as a human."
The room fell silent. Aurora, sensing the tension, quietly slipped out to her bedroom.
Jace leaned forward, his eyes intense. "This is a dangerous process. I hope you both understand that."
We nodded in unison. I'd spent countless nights researching, weighing the risks, tormented by the possibilities.
"But carrying two werewolf pups is equally dangerous," Eliana spoke up, her voice stronger than I expected. "Either way, there's risk."
Jace nodded slowly. "Even for werewolves, twins can be challenging."
"We're just asking for your blessing," I said, hearing the desperation in my voice. "We've been through the risks together."
Jace fell silent, his gaze distant. Something passed between him and Aria—a look of understanding. I knew they sometimes communicated through their bond, but this was different. It was as if they were listening to something only they could hear.
After what felt like an eternity, Jace's expression cleared. "Alright. You have our permission. But make sure you understand every possible way to make the transition easier."
Relief flooded through me. I hadn't realized I'd been holding my breath.
Eliana jumped up and hugged them both. "Thank you, Alpha."
Aria touched Eliana's arm gently. "Do your research. And if you need help, don't hesitate to ask us."
"We will," I promised, gratitude overwhelming me. We said our goodbyes and left their home, walking hand in hand toward our own place nearby.
