ARIA

This place is fucking freezing. Stone walls, stone floor. Some kind of cellar or basement, whatever. They've got me chained with silver, thinking it'll keep me weak. That's almost funny. The Moon Goddess gave me immunity to silver, but that's my secret weapon for now.

The chains dig into my wrists, and I twist in fake agony. Gotta look weak, make them drop their guard. I've got Jace's baby inside me, our little boy, and I need to keep him safe.

The door creaks open. Two men I don't recognize walk in, and I can smell they're werewolves. Rogues. The first one crouches down, grabs my chin.

"Wake up, sweetheart," he rasps.

"She's quite the beauty, isn't she?" he asks his companion, eyes glinting with disgusting desire.

The second man shifts nervously. "Yeah. Hurry up, the girl said we had to be quick."

"Yes, yes. I know," the first one responds impatiently.

His hand slides toward my clothes, and I fight back nausea. These assholes think I'm easy prey. I stare right into his eyes.

"Don't touch me, or I swear you won't live too long."

He laughs, fingers tearing at my clothing. "Shut up. What are you gonna do?"

I close my eyes, heart racing. *Jace, please tell me you're close,* I call through our mind link to my mate.

Seconds later, Jace's voice fills my head. *What's going on, baby?*

*Scarlett sent two rogues to me, too,* I transmit desperately.

*Fuck. I'm running as fast as I can, baby,* his voice floods with rage and worry.

I feel the man's hands getting bolder, fear and anger rising simultaneously. He rips my shirt open, one hand squeezing my throat.

"Please, don't," I plead weakly, trying to buy time.

"Shut up, bitch." He slaps me hard enough that black spots dance in my vision.

He roughly yanks at my pants, cold air hitting my skin. "Shit, this bitch is tight. I am going to really enjoy this."

Desperate and terrified, I call out in my mind: *Sage! Please.*

The wolf inside me responds weakly: *I'm so sorry, Aria, I'm trying, I'm so sorry.*

I can feel Jace and his wolf Phantom's fury building through our bond. But they're too far away, they won't make it in time.

Just as this bastard is about to carry out his evil plan, a shadow passes through the room. A hand grabs the back of his head, yanking it backward. There's a sickening crack, and he slumps to the ground, dead.

The second rogue backs away in terror, screaming as he bolts for the door. A flash of silver, and he drops, throat slashed.

I feel relief, then freeze. Richard Warren stands there, eyes gleaming with triumph. Out of the frying pan, into the fire.

"Warren, please, you promised," I beg, trying to scramble up.

He slowly crouches down, fingers tracing my face. "You are a true beauty, Aria."

"Stop, Warren, don't do this. I will never accept you if you do this. I would rather die," my voice trembles but remains firm.

He smiles, the kind that sends ice through my veins. "You'll change your mind. That pathetic boy Jace doesn't deserve you."

I can see the desire in his eyes, and panic sets in. Suddenly, Sage's voice becomes clearer:

*I am here. We will be fine. Just let me take over.*

*But what about the pup? We cannot do anything that will harm him, Sage,* I worry.

*I would never hurt our pup. I have two forms, remember?* Sage reassures me.

I hesitate. If I let Sage take over, Warren will discover her existence. Our secret weapon will be exposed.

*He won't live to tell anyone,* Sage says firmly. *Phantom and Jace are almost here. We need to keep him distracted until then.*

Warren moves closer, his breath making me want to gag. I make my decision, closing my eyes and letting Sage take control.

Warm energy surges from deep inside. My body begins to change, the sensation both painful and exhilarating. Warren jumps back, watching in horror as I transform.

"Aria, stop that. You will kill your pup and bring yourself in danger," he commands, panic rising.

I feel my bones restructuring, muscles expanding, silver fur sprouting from my skin. This is Sage's power, the Moon Goddess's gift.

"Aria, I said stop!" Warren shouts, but it's too late.

When the transformation completes, Sage in full control of my body, she stands tall, silver eyes fixed on Warren. Her voice is both mine and not mine, deep and commanding.

"You have touched an innocent woman for the last time."

Warren backs away, shocked. "But how? Your wolf should be suppressed by the silver chains and wolfsbane!"

"The Moon Goddess's gifts are stronger than you imagine," Sage answers. "You and your pathetic pack thought you could control all wolves? How sad."

Fear flashes in Warren's eyes. "Impossible. Your form... this isn't something normal wolves can do. This transformation should have been eradicated."

Sage lets out a low, menacing laugh. "Evidently not all."

Warren slowly approaches, silver dagger gleaming in his hand, trying to regain control. He doesn't know about my immunity to silver.

"What, my love," he says with false tenderness, silver blade glinting. "The silver chains should have suppressed your abilities. I used enough wolfsbane to make your wolf sleep."

"We have an ability granted by the Moon Goddess herself," Sage reveals, luring him closer.

Greed flashes in Warren's eyes. "Tell me, sweetheart."

He's fully within striking distance now. Sage bares her teeth in a cruel smile.

"We are immune to silver!"

Before horror can fully form on Warren's face, Sage breaks free from the silver chains, grabbing his chest. With the sound of bones cracking, her claws plunge into his chest cavity, ripping out his still-beating heart.

Warren's eyes widen in disbelief as he stares at his own heart, then collapses to the floor.

Chapter 87 Chapter87

JACE

I have been trying to track and find Aria for hours when I begin to feel her through our matebond. But it's still not strong enough for mindlinking. Fuck, I hate this helpless feeling. Every second she's away from me is torture. Warren and those Ravencroft siblings picked the wrong Alpha's mate to mess with.

The forest blurs around me as I run, following that thin thread of connection. Phantom claws at my insides, demanding release. He's right. We'll move faster if I let him take control.

*Find her,* I command, surrendering to the shift.

My bones crack and reform as Phantom takes over, muscles stretching, senses sharpening. The matebond pulses stronger now, pulling us northeast. Toward Thunder Mountains.

I adjust the tracking device Gabriel insisted I wear. If I find her—no, when I find her—the pack will need to know where to send backup.

We run for what feels like hours, Phantom pushing our body to its limits. The matebond grows stronger with each mile, but still not enough for mind-linking. She's there, just beyond our reach.

*Aria,* I call into the emptiness. Nothing returns.

*Phantom, can you sense Sage?*

*Barely,* he growls inside our shared consciousness. *Something blocks her.*

Fear clutches my chest.

We push harder, racing through a ravine, leaping across a stream. The mountains loom ahead, dark against the night sky. That's when I feel it—a sudden surge through our bond.

*Reach for her now,* Phantom urges.

I focus everything on that connection, throwing my thoughts across the distance.

*Ria? Baby, can you hear me?*

The response is weak but unmistakable. *Jace, I hear you.*

Relief crashes through me so hard I nearly stumble. *I'm coming, baby. I'll find you, I promise.*

*Hurry, please.* Her voice trembles. *He wants me to reject you, accept him as my chosen mate. If I don't, he'll kill our baby.*

Rage explodes inside me, but I force it down. She needs my strength, not my anger. *I'll find you soon, baby. I can feel you getting closer. Don't give up, please.*

*I won't.*

*Stay strong, Ria. You'll be safe in my arms soon.*

*See you soon.*

*See you soon, baby.*

The connection dims but doesn't disappear completely. It's enough to guide us. I let Phantom push us faster, ignoring the burn in our muscles, the ragged edge of our breathing.

We've been running for hours when Phantom suddenly stops, raising his head to scent the air.

They're closer, he growls. I can feel Sage more clearly.

I reach for our bond again. *Aria?*

*Jace, thank god. I'm getting close. Gabriel and the others are tracking us both. How are you?*

*I'm okay, the baby's—*

Her voice cuts off abruptly. Fear spikes through me.

*Aria?*

*Jace, tell me you're close.* Her voice returns, edged with panic.

*What's happening, baby?*

*Scarlett sent two rogues to me.*

Then I hear it—her scream of pain ripping through our bond, drilling into my skull.

*Jace. Please say you're close.*

*Fuck. I'm running as fast as I can, baby.*

Shit, shit, shit. Hurry up, Phantom.

Wait. Phantom freezes, his senses heightening. Feel that?

Power surges through our bond—unfamiliar, ancient, glowing silver in my mind's eye. Sage, but different. Stronger.

*She's fighting,* Phantom says, something like pride in his voice.

We sprint forward, clearing the treeline. Ahead, a building hunkers against the mountainside. An old silver containment facility, abandoned years ago. Two guards stand at the entrance, straightening when they spot us.

Change, Phantom demands. Not to human. To our true form.

I understand immediately. Not our wolf form, but something in between—our Primal Wolf form.

The transformation is painful but fast. Bones crack and stretch, muscles tear and reform. We grow taller, stronger. Half-wolf, half-man—an ancient, terrifying form that even other werewolves fear.

Phantom.

We fight better like this. And we need to be fast.

The guards see us approaching. Their eyes widen with recognition and fear. They bow deeply, stepping aside without challenge. Smart move. I'd have torn through them without hesitation.

Inside, the facility is dark and damp. Most cells stand empty, their doors hanging open. I follow Aria's scent, mixed with blood and fear, down a narrow corridor.

In the last cell, I find them. Richard Warren lies on the floor, his chest torn open, heart placed beside him. A rogue's body sprawls nearby, throat ripped out.

And there, huddled in the corner, is Aria. Blood-soaked, trembling, but alive.

Phantom retreats, letting me shift back to human form. I rush to her side, gathering her into my arms.

"Baby, are you okay?" My voice breaks as I cradle her face.

"It was Sage," she whispers, looking at Warren's body.

"I know. He would have been killed anyway." I already knew that when I felt the surge of power through our bond. Sage transformed—became the female equivalent of a Primal Wolf.

"He killed the rogue just as he almost—" She can't finish the sentence.

"I thought somewhere deep down, there might be some good in him," she continues. "But then he turned into a monster. Sage demanded I give her control. She transformed into something like Phantom, but glowing silver. She promised it wouldn't hurt the baby."

"Shh, baby, stop. None of this is your fault. You only did what you had to." I stroke her hair, wishing I could erase the trauma from her mind.

"They didn't... you know. But they touched me, Jace." Shame colors her voice.

Rage burns through me again, but I force it down. "Baby, this changes nothing about how I see you. It doesn't change my love for you. You're my mate, my baby, my queen. I will always be here with you."

She buries her face against my chest, her shoulders shaking with silent sobs.

Gabriel's voice breaks into my thoughts. *Alpha, did you find my daughter?*

*Yes, she's okay. But she'll need time to recover from this.*

*Understood. We're all here for her. We cleared the rogues here. Most walked away in peace and were not even aware of what was going on. We have the siblings. I sent Cal and Conner to bring them back until we can get them back to the pack land.*

*Good,* I reply. *I'll have them sent home, where their family will be able to at least say their goodbyes before I kill them.* Because that is what I'm going to do. They committed treason or that, they will die.. if it is safe, then send everyone away and see if you can find some clothes for her to wear.

*Will do.*

I break the connection and focus back on Aria. Her heartbeat has steadied against my chest.

"I'll get you out of here," I promise, carefully breaking the silver chains that still bind her wrists.

Once free, she rubs the marks on her skin. "Thank you."

"Gabriel is waiting outside with clothes. Let's go."

I lift her effortlessly, carrying her through the prison. The few remaining rogues bow their heads, stepping aside as we pass. They recognize an Alpha's fury when they see it.

Outside, Gabriel waits, his face tight with concern. He hands me a large shirt. "For her."

I help Aria into it, then steady her as she stands on shaky legs.

"Dad." One word, and she's in Gabriel's arms, sobbing like a child.

"Little deer," he whispers, the nickname making something in my chest tighten.

"Let's get back," I say quietly. "End this damn gathering and go home."

She nods, then we head to Alpha Marcus's territory.
