The Human Girl Who Tamed Alpha King Chapter 241
MADDIE
I feel him. He's coming. The King is near.
Dad hunches in the corner, face dark with shame. All this running and hiding is killing his Alpha pride. He's broken now, just trying to protect what's left of our family.
Blake stands by the window, fists clenched white. I see the fury in his eyes. His future as Alpha - stolen. Everything he trained for - gone in one night. I stay silent. Nothing I say will make this better.
Then I hear it - claws scraping outside. My heart leaps to my throat. He's here! The King has found us! I jump to my feet, excitement replacing fear. A strange warmth floods my chest. The connection I felt at the castle, at the waterfall - it's stronger now.
Dad and Blake rise too, muscles tensed for battle. Dad moves with pain, still recovering from wounds that would have killed a lesser wolf. I open my mouth to tell them not to attack when the door flies open with a crash.
My blood turns to ice. Not the King. The Rogue leader stands there, his scarred face twisted in a triumphant smile. Three more rogues flank him, their eyes hungry and cruel. I stumble backward, hiding behind Dad and Blake. I know what he wants. Who he wants. Me.
"You really thought you could hide forever?" he sneers, stepping inside. The smell of blood and dirt clings to him. Fresh blood. He's killed again to find us.
Dad straightens, trying to look powerful despite his exhaustion. His shoulders square up, a final stand of dignity. "Leave. You've destroyed our home. Let us be. We're no threat to you now."
"Oh, but I couldn't possibly leave my young mate behind." His eyes find mine over Dad's shoulder, possessive and cold.
"She's not your mate, and you know it," Dad growls. "So leave and let her find her true mate."
The Rogue leader's smile widens, revealing teeth stained with blood. "No, I need her. She'll be treated well... if she behaves." His gaze drops to my neck, where he tried to mark me. The phantom pain makes me shudder.
"You will never take her." Dad's voice thunders through the small space. He lunges forward, his wolf partly emerging despite his injuries.
I close my eyes, reaching out with my mind, searching for the King I know is nearby. My eighteenth birthday gift - the full awakening of my abilities. *Help, I know you're here, I can feel you, I've felt you for days. If you can hear me. He's here. He found us. Please help, save us.*
As Dad collides with the Rogue leader, a voice answers in my mind, deep and certain: *I'm coming. I'm on my way.*
ATLAS
Her cry for help pierces through me. Maddie. She's terrified. The Rogue leader found them.
*Fuck!* My warriors can handle the Rogues outside, but I sense more coming. I need to reach her. Now. Her fear floods through our connection, making my blood boil.
*Dad, Lawrence. I found them. But the Rogues leader is here. I'm sure more are coming.* I send through the mind-link, pushing urgency into the message.
*We're on our way.* They respond together. I send the location and shift to human form for better maneuverability through the dense forest.
Then I hear it – growls and screams. Fighting. Blood. Can't wait anymore. She needs me. He's hurting her family.
I release my power, letting my energy field expand. The True King's power courses through me, making the air crackle. I race toward the cabin, spotting two Rogues blocking the path. The first charges me, claws extended. I sidestep, grab his throat, and crush it with one hand. The second hesitates - smart, but too late. I slam my fist through his chest. Both dead in seconds. No time for mercy.
I kick in the already damaged door. Wood splinters fly everywhere. A man about my age – Blake, I assume – stands protectively near a woman cowering in the corner. Must be Maddie's mother. Alpha Louis barely stands, refusing to yield despite his blood-soaked body. One eye swollen shut, chest heaving with effort. The Rogue leader's claws drip with fresh blood - Louis's blood.
I growl. Both fighting men freeze, turning to me. The Rogue leader sees me and smirks, confidence oozing from him despite the interruption.
"Who are you?" Contempt drips from his voice. His French accent thick with arrogance.
"Me? I'm who you don't want to challenge." My American accent registers with him. His eyes narrow.
"You're American."
"Yes, I am. And I'm more than that." My voice drops dangerously. "I'm the American King's son. I am THE king. The king of kings."
I shift into my Primal Wolf form. Bones crack, muscles expand, fur erupts across my skin. Luke roars, the sound shaking the walls. The small cabin suddenly feels cramped with my massive form filling the space.
The Rogue leader's expression falters momentarily before his arrogance returns. Sweat breaks out on his forehead. He knows what I am.
"This is private business, King. Not worth your time." He attempts to sound casual, but fear edges his words.
"You're right. It is private." My voice rumbles with Luke's presence. "But Alpha Louis and his family matter to mine. And that she-wolf you tried to force as your mate? She's mine. So this is very much my business."
Maddie's mother gasps, her hands flying to her mouth. Her eyes dart between me and her daughter.
The Rogue leader snarls, but knows he's outmatched. He backs away, only to collide with Dad and Lawrence standing in the doorway, blocking his escape.
Dad grabs him, snapping special cuffs around his wrists. "Your Rogues ran. You're coming with us so Alpha Louis can punish you." He drags the Rogue leader away. The captive glares back at Maddie with hatred.
Alpha Louis looks at me and bows respectfully. Then he helps his son escort the women outside. His dignity is returning despite his injuries.
Now it's just Maddie and me. She fusses with her dirty clothes, trying to clean herself. Her hands shake. I can't help smiling at her concern over appearance after everything she's endured.
I walk over and take her hands to stop her. Her skin feels electric against mine. She stares at the floor, refusing to meet my gaze.
"Look at me, please." My voice softens, barely above a whisper.
She shakes her head, hair falling forward to hide her face. "I look terrible and I'm filthy," she whispers, shame coloring her words.
"You look like a girl who survived hell," I whisper back, squeezing her hands gently. "Nothing to be ashamed of. Only pride."
"I felt you," she says quietly, fingers trembling in mine. "I knew you'd come. Something inside me knew."
"Of course. I felt you too. From the moment you left America." My heart pounds so hard I wonder if she can hear it. "Please look at me."
Slowly, she raises her head. Our eyes meet.
"Mate," I whisper, the word sacred between us.
"Mate," she answers, her voice trembling, a tear sliding down her dirt-streaked cheek.
