The Human Girl Who Tamed Alpha King Chapter 191
AURORA
I stumbled behind Lawrence as we approached a dilapidated wooden shack on the outskirts of Fonteblanda. My mind kept replaying our close call with Alpha Charles's men. The sky had turned pitch black hours ago, and every muscle in my body screamed for rest.
"I'm afraid this is all I could find," Lawrence said, his voice heavy with apology as he pushed open the creaking door. "Everything else is closed."
The inside wasn't much better than the outside - dusty floor, cobwebs in corners, and a musty smell that made my nose wrinkle. But it was shelter.
"This works," I assured him, dropping my backpack with a thud. "It's just for a few hours anyway."
Lawrence motioned for me to sit beside him against the least dirty wall. "Come here. You can rest against me. I'll keep you safe."
I hesitated for a split second before sliding down next to him. His arm wrapped around my shoulders, warm and secure. Despite the uncomfortable surroundings, my body relaxed against his. God, how did I trust him so completely after just days? My eyelids grew heavy, and I surrendered to exhaustion.
And then I was running through dense forest, but not on two legs. Four powerful limbs carried me forward with incredible speed, wind rushing through my... fur? Red-brown fur covered my body as I sprinted alongside a massive black wolf. Lawrence's wolf. I knew without seeing that this was the forests surrounding Ancient Moon Shadow.
The sensation was indescribable - freedom, power, belonging. Everything I'd been denied my entire life. My vision was sharper than I'd ever experienced, picking out details of leaves and bark I'd never noticed before. Scents flooded my nose - pine, earth, water, and the distinct musk of Lawrence beside me. We raced toward the mountains, stopping near a waterfall I recognized from home. We shifted back to human form effortlessly, no pain, just natural transformation.
Lawrence wrapped his arms around me from behind, his hands resting on my swollen belly. Wait - I was pregnant? I looked down at my protruding stomach in wonder. I seemed to glow with health, my skin radiant, my body strong despite the added weight.
"You feeling okay?" he asked, his breath warm against my ear.
"Yes, thank you for letting me run one last time before the baby comes," I replied, words flowing from me without thought.
Lawrence kissed my temple. "I promise Rocky and I will only shift for missions until he and your wolf can run together again."
My heart swelled with emotion. "I love you, Lawrence."
"I love you too, my beautiful Aurora."
The scene dissolved into blinding white light. A woman's voice, powerful yet gentle, surrounded me.
"He is your future, my child. I sense your fear and doubt. But not everyone will hurt you. Some, like your family, will love and protect you. Lawrence is one of them. I promise you won't regret it."
"Who are you?" I managed to ask.
"My child, I am the Moon Goddess."
I jerked awake, still leaning against Lawrence. His eyes opened instantly, alert and concerned. My heart pounded in my chest, the dream still vivid in my mind. Had that really been the Moon Goddess? After twenty-two years of silence, why would she speak to me now?
"You were dreaming," he said softly. "You okay?"
"I saw something... I think it was a message from the Moon Goddess."
Lawrence straightened, suddenly serious. "What did she show you?"
"She showed me the future... our future, I think." My voice dropped to a whisper. "I had a wolf, Lawrence. And I was pregnant."
He remained silent for several heartbeats, then gently touched my shoulder, his fingers trailing to my cheek. "You don't want children?"
"I do," I admitted, surprising myself with how quickly I answered. "I've always wanted my own family, like my parents have."
"We'll have that. I'll be with you always."
I stared at my hands. "She showed me with a wolf. But that's impossible, right? I've never even heard whispers in my head."
Lawrence's expression softened. "Rocky senses her. He says she's there, waiting for the right time."
"Really?" Hope bubbled up despite my attempts to squash it. How many times had I been disappointed before?
Morning light filtered through broken window slats as Lawrence outlined our journey ahead. "We'll go to Albinia today, cross the border, and stay until tomorrow. Then we'll navigate through the smaller towns between here and Terni, which is just past the border into the third territory."
"Should we travel at night once we're deeper in?" I asked.
"Yes. I know it's a lot of walking, but Albinia has humans. We can rest there."
I nodded, trusting his judgment completely. "Maybe we can find a ride after leaving this territory?"
"Perhaps, if we're lucky." Lawrence offered his hand, pulling me to my feet.
As we left the shack, I asked, "How do you know so much about crossing territories?"
Lawrence's eyes grew distant. "After my first shift, I learned to defend myself and wanted to see other territories, learn about my family. So I went."
"Did you find what you were looking for?"
"Yes." His jaw tightened. "I discovered more than I needed to know, more than I knew how to handle. My parents weren't who I thought they were. Their deaths weren't accidental." He shook his head. "So I let it go, lived a nomadic life, avoiding trouble in each territory. I didn't want my past to haunt me."
We walked for hours, my mind spinning with questions I wasn't brave enough to ask. The landscape gradually changed, becoming less wild, with occasional farmhouses dotting the distance. My stomach growled, reminding me we'd had nothing since yesterday.
Finally, Lawrence pointed ahead. "Albinia. There's the border marker."
The sign read "Honoring Alpha Charles Huntington," glowing with magic only werewolves could see. Beyond it lay bustling streets where humans and werewolves mingled, oblivious to each other's true nature.
"We made it," I whispered, relief washing through me as we hurried through the town, tension draining from my shoulders with each step away from the second territory.
I grabbed Lawrence's hand and squeezed it tight.
Chapter 211 Chapter211
LAWRENCE
I felt the tension drain from my body as we crossed beyond Alpha Charles's territory. The weight that had been pressing on my chest since we'd entered his lands finally lifted. Aurora walked beside me, her steps lighter too.
As we made our way along the path, my thoughts drifted to the truth I'd been carrying—the burden of my past. Aurora deserved to know who I really was. The people I'd grown up calling my parents weren't actually mine. My real parents were murdered when I was just a baby. The woman who raised me—who I thought was my mother—was actually my nanny.
I discovered the truth when I was older, finding a lockbox with documents and photos that revealed everything. After my parents were killed, she grabbed me and ran. She convinced their killers I was her son, saving my life in the process. When I first learned this, I was fucking furious. The rage consumed me entirely. I wanted revenge against the ones who'd stolen my birthright and my family.
So I disguised myself as a rogue wolf and infiltrated the murderer's territory—Alpha Charles's land. The same Alpha we'd just escaped from. I trained there, became stronger. They kept me because I could fight well. But I soon realized I couldn't get close enough to kill him without dying myself. So I left, letting my vengeance simmer unresolved.
My father had been Alpha Anthony of the North Central Territory. Charles killed him as revenge because my mother chose Anthony over him. By birth, I was meant to be an Alpha, but I've never wanted that power. Especially not after finding Aurora.
Rocky rumbled agreement in my head. *Mate more important than power.*
There was more guilt weighing on me too. Before Aurora, I'd given up finding my mate. I'd been with others, seeking fleeting comfort in a lonely existence. I wished I hadn't, but I didn't know she existed. I needed Aurora to understand that I was hers completely now. I would follow her to America without hesitation. What was there to leave behind? I had no pack, no family. Just her.
When we reached the human town, I approached the hotel desk and asked for a room with two beds.
Aurora tugged my sleeve. "If you don't mind," she whispered, "I'd like to sleep next to you."
"Of course," I replied, pulling her against my side where she belonged.
Rocky howled approval inside my mind. *Mate trusts us.*
In our room, Aurora spread her map across the bed, red marks indicating werewolf towns.
"I have a suggestion," I said, sitting beside her. "Let's go to Terni in Alpha Alexander's territory. We can find a good place to stay, and I can search in wolf form." I wrapped my arm around her. "I'm faster that way. I'll return every night until we find her, then take you to her."
Aurora leaned into me. "That's not a bad idea. I have her photo." She hesitated. "But don't ask too many questions. If she hears rumors, she might run."
"Don't worry," I promised. "You'll get your answers."
She nodded, settling deeper into my embrace. Her breathing gradually slowed until she fell asleep against my chest. I watched her face, memorizing every detail. This woman—my mate—had endured so much already. I swore silently I would help her find peace, whatever it took.
AURORA
I woke up early, Lawrence's arm heavy around my waist. His breathing was deep and even, his face relaxed in sleep. Carefully, I lifted his arm and slipped out of bed, reaching for my phone. I needed to check in with my family. They'd be worried sick by now.
Opening our family chat group, I typed quickly: [Hey guys, sorry. I've been on the move, barely stopping to get out of the central territory.]
Dad responded instantly: [Are you safe, princess?]
My heart squeezed at his concern. [Yes, I'm safe. Lawrence found a way to get us out and into Alpha Alexander's territory. We'll be there tomorrow. We're in a human town between territories now.]
Mom replied: [We're so glad you're not alone.]
[Lawrence seems like a good man.]
I smiled, glancing at his sleeping form. [He is, Mom, and he knows these territories.]
Dad's next question made my pulse quicken: [Have you two accepted each other?]
I hesitated, fingers hovering over the screen. [Yes, but we agreed to wait on marking each other until after this is over and we know each other better. Even so, he says he'll never stop me from being me. He likes that I can fight, and his wolf can sense mine even though I don't have one.]
My chest ached as I typed those last words. Would they understand how much that meant to me? To be accepted exactly as I was?
Mom replied: [That's good news, sweetheart. Maybe your wolf just needs her true mate.]
Hope flickered inside me. What if she was right? I continued: [ We're coming home. He wants to come with me. He says there's no one here for him. His parents were killed when he was little and he pretty much grew up on the streets.]
[He is very welcome, sweetheart,] Mom wrote.
Dad added: [Yes, as your mother said, I'm sure we can find something for him to do.]
[He's an excellent warrior,] I typed, proud of Lawrence's strength and skill. I'd seen him fight to protect me, seen his focus and determination.
[If he wants, we can make him a warrior,] Dad offered.
Relief washed through me. [ I think he'd like that. Anyway, Mom and Dad, I'm going to find something to eat now.]
I closed the chat, set my phone down, and glanced back at Lawrence. He was still sleeping, his dark hair falling across his forehead. Such a contrast—this fierce warrior looking so peaceful in sleep. Part of me wanted to crawl back into bed beside him, but my stomach growled loudly.
Slipping into my shoes, I headed for the door. I couldn't believe how quickly everything had changed. A few days ago, I was alone and searching for a mother who'd abandoned me. Now I had a mate who accepted me completely, scars and all.
As I stepped outside, the morning breeze brushed gently against my skin. For the first time in years, I felt a strange sense of possibility. Maybe this journey wasn't just about finding my birth mother anymore. Maybe it was about finding myself too.
I walked down the street until I saw a shop with "Pizza" in red letters. The smell grabbed me first—cheese, tomato, herbs. Through the window I saw food that looked better than any pizza back home.
I ordered a large one with extra cheese and two Cokes. While waiting, I sat outside watching people start their day. This quiet moment felt strange after all we'd been through.
A waitress with dark curls brought out my order. "Your pizza ready, miss," she said with a thick accent.
After paying, I balanced the warm box and drinks carefully as I headed back to the hotel.
Chapter 212 Chapter212
AURORA
I pushed open the hotel room door, balancing the pizza box and cokes in one hand. Lawrence was still asleep on the bed.
"Lawrence," I called softly, setting down the food. He didn't move. I stepped closer and reached out to touch his cheek. "Lawrence."
Big mistake.
In less than a second, I found myself yanked onto the bed, my back pressed against the mattress with Lawrence's weight pinning me down. His eyes were wild, unfocused, and his grip on my wrists hurt. My heart hammered in my chest.
"Lawrence! It's me!" I gasped.
Recognition flooded his features immediately. He released me, moving back so quickly I barely saw him move.
"Aurora, I'm so sorry," he said, his voice rough with sleep and regret.
"It's okay," I managed, pushing myself up to sit. My pulse was still racing, adrenaline making my hands shake slightly. "I'm fine."
Lawrence ran a hand through his hair, the muscles in his arms flexing with the movement. "I'm not used to being woken up by anyone, not yet anyway." He leaned forward and placed a gentle kiss on my forehead, a stark contrast to his earlier intensity.
"I hope you like pizza," I said, changing the subject as I stood and moved toward the table.
"Pizza is perfect. Thank you," he replied, following me. We sat down at the small table, and I opened the box, revealing the steaming pizza inside.
As we ate, Lawrence explained his plans. "I arranged a ride to Terni. We'll be in the back of a truck, but we'll get there."
"That's fine," I said between bites. The pizza was amazing.
"They're transporting fish to a restaurant," he added, looking apologetic.
I rolled my eyes. "Lawrence, it's fine. You need to understand something about my family. We might be royalty, but we're not stuck-up. We don't even live in the castle most of the time. Dad built us a regular house when I was little."
"I would live anywhere that you want to," Lawrence said simply.
He continued explaining our travel arrangements. "The truck leaves at seven in the morning. The drive should take about two to three hours. When we get there, I will find you a place to stay first."
"Is Terni in Alpha Alexander Vanderbilt's territory?" I asked, suddenly remembering something important.
"Yes, it is. Alpha Alexander is very much loved by his pack, just like Alpha Leonard Sinclair. You should be safe there," Lawrence confirmed.
"I promised to let Alpha Alexander know when I arrive in his territory," I admitted, wiping my hands on a napkin.
"When we get to Terni, we will find his watcher or right hand, so they can tell him," Lawrence promised.
We finished our pizza in comfortable silence. After throwing away the empty box, Lawrence suggested, "Would you like to take a walk? There's a forest nearby."
"Sure," I agreed, grabbing my jacket.
As we walked toward the trees, Lawrence turned to me. "Rocky has been wanting to meet you for days. I was waiting for things to calm down. Would you like to meet him?"
"Of course! I'd love to," I replied. I was eager to meet the wolf part of my mate since I didn't have a wolf of my own. Meeting someone else's wolf always felt special.
Lawrence led me deeper into the forest, away from any potential onlookers. Then he began to undress. My cheeks heated as I watched him pull his shirt over his head, revealing a muscular back decorated with a tattoo of a man turning into a wolf. The artwork was stunning, the detail incredible.
I looked away as he removed his pants. After a crack of bones and rustling, I turned back to see an enormous wolf, almost completely black with silver fur on his belly—a mark of Alphas or pure-bloods.
"Hello, Rocky. I'm happy to meet you," I said, stepping closer with my heart pounding.
Rocky's warm brown eyes watched me intelligently. He stood on his hind legs, placing his massive paws on my shoulders. I staggered slightly but held firm.
"You look so big and dangerous, I bet you're a great warrior," I told him. He made a playful growl in response.
I sat on a fallen log, and Rocky flopped beside me. I ran my fingers through his soft, thick fur. This moment felt precious—connecting with Rocky gave me insight into Lawrence that I was still discovering. Without the ability to shift myself, these moments were my only way to understand the wolf bond.
After a few minutes, Rocky stood up, ears twitching, looking sad.
"It's okay, Rocky. I'll see you soon again," I assured him, feeling a strange connection to this wolf who was part of my mate.
Rocky's eyes brightened, and he licked my face enthusiastically, making me laugh and wipe my cheek.
Without warning, the wolf disappeared, and Lawrence was suddenly standing naked before me. My mouth went dry, and I couldn't look away from his muscular body, from the flames that seemed to dance across his fingertips. Heat rushed through me that had nothing to do with embarrassment and everything to do with desire.
"Shit, sorry," Lawrence muttered. "I told him to go to my clothes."
I tried to respond, but words failed me. Lawrence seemed to be having the same problem, his eyes darker as they met mine. The tension between us was so thick I could barely breathe.
He turned away quickly, reaching for his clothes and pulling them on. The sudden loss of connection made me feel strangely bereft.
We walked back to the hotel holding hands. His touch sent warmth through my body. I couldn't stop thinking about seeing him naked earlier - I'd never felt this way about anyone before.
When we got to our room, Lawrence gently pushed me against the door and kissed me. I moaned softly. He pulled back, his forehead touching mine.
"Maybe one room was a bad idea," he whispered.
"Maybe," I agreed, not meaning it at all.
Lawrence kissed me again, harder this time. He lifted me up, pressing me more firmly against the door. My legs wrapped around his waist instinctively, and I could feel every hard muscle of his body against mine.
"Tell me, stop," he murmured against my neck.
"Why?" I asked, tilting my head to give him better access. His fingers slipped under my shirt, touching the bare skin of my stomach, and I shivered. The simple touch sent electricity racing up my spine.
"If you don't tell me to, I won't stop," Lawrence said, his voice tight with restraint.
I knew what he meant. What was happening between us was moving fast, probably too fast. But I didn't want to stop. I wanted to feel something good, something right. After years of feeling broken and unwanted, his desire for me was intoxicating.
"What if I don't want you to stop," I whispered, pressing a kiss to his lips and gently sucking his bottom lip. Lawrence growled, the sound vibrating through his chest into mine.
"Then I won't," he replied, pulling my shirt over my head in one swift movement before carrying me toward the bed.
Chapter 213 Chapter213
AURORA
Lawrence laid me on the bed, his eyes dark with desire as he removed my shirt. His growl when he saw my bare chest sent heat through my body.
He kissed me hungrily, his tongue exploring my mouth as his hands moved along my sides. I moaned, surprised by how right it felt. His lips moved down my neck, leaving fire with each touch. When he took my nipple in his mouth, I gasped and arched my back, pulling at his T-shirt.
"Please, Lawrence," I begged, fingers in his hair. His tongue sent electricity through me, creating a direct line of pleasure between my breast and between my legs.
"Oh, yes, just like that," I groaned as he moved to my other breast. The vibration of his growl against my skin made me shiver.
My body trembled as his hands moved to my pants. He unbuttoned them slowly, kissing down my stomach, teeth grazing my skin. He pulled my pants and underwear down, leaving me exposed under his hungry gaze.
"Damn, you're beautiful," he breathed, staring at me with such intensity that I felt myself grow wetter.
He started kissing my inner thighs, working his way up with deliberate slowness. His fingers found my most sensitive spot, and I couldn't help the loud moan that escaped me. My back arched off the bed as he touched me, circling and teasing.
"Lawrence," I gasped, squeezing my eyes shut as sensations overwhelmed me.
When his mouth replaced his fingers, I nearly screamed. Holy crap! Nobody told me it would feel like this! I grabbed the sheets, holding on for dear life as waves of pleasure washed over me. His tongue moved with practiced ease, finding spots I didn't even know existed.
"Oh my god," I moaned, forcing my eyes open to look at him. The sight of him between my legs, his eyes locked on mine as he tasted me, made my entire body burn hotter.
He slid two fingers inside me while his tongue continued its magic. The dual sensation was too much to bear. My hips moved of their own accord, seeking more contact. Minutes later, I reached my first real climax, crying out his name as my body pulsed around his fingers.
Lawrence moved up my body, putting his fingers in his mouth with a satisfied expression. "You taste perfect," he said, then kissed me deeply, letting me taste myself on his tongue.
I reached for his jeans, desperate to feel all of him, but he caught my hands. "No," he whispered against my lips.
"Why not?" I moaned, frustrated by the denial. My body was still humming with need. "I want to feel you."
"We agreed not to complete the bond yet," he reminded me, his voice strained with the effort of his restraint.
"I don't care about that anymore," I said bluntly, surprising even myself with my directness. "I know what I want. I want to be yours, and I want you to be mine." The certainty in my voice seemed to make him falter.
"I won't be able to control myself," his voice tightened as his eyes flashed with hunger. "I'll mark you."
The marking. The permanent connection between mates that would bind us forever. I should be scared, right? But instead, I felt only certainty flowing through me. "Then mark me," I whispered, pulling him down for another kiss.
His kiss nearly suffocated me. We quickly removed his clothes, and when I saw him fully naked for the first time, I nervously swallowed. He was... impressive. Much larger than I'd imagined, and for a moment I wondered if this would work.
"Don't worry," he kissed me gently, sensing my anxiety. "You were made for me. We'll go slowly." His reassurance calmed my nerves, replacing fear with anticipation.
He raised my hands above my head, pinning them gently as he kissed down my neck. I felt him position himself at my entrance, and then he pushed in slightly. Surprisingly, it didn't hurt as much as expected. My body seemed to welcome him naturally, adjusting to accommodate him.
I gasped at the new sensation of being filled, stretched in the most delicious way.
"You're so tight, baby," he said through gritted teeth, his muscles tensing with the effort of restraining himself. His concern for my comfort only made me want him more, made me feel cherished.
"It'll hurt for a few seconds," he warned, his eyes locked on mine, then fully entered me with one thrust. A sharp pain made me wince and I dug my nails into his shoulders, but it quickly faded into waves of pleasure I'd never felt before. Our bodies joined completely, and something deeper than physical connection seemed to click into place.
"Lawrence," I moaned as he began to move. Each thrust connected us deeper, not just physically but somehow spiritually too. I wrapped my legs around his waist, bringing him even closer.
"You feel amazing," he groaned, setting a gentle rhythm that gradually intensified. The sound of our breathing filled the room, punctuated by occasional moans.
"Please," I begged, not even sure what I was asking for. I just needed more of everything he was giving me. My body was climbing toward something monumental.
He suddenly pulled me up so I was sitting on top of him. This new angle hit something inside me that made me cry out in surprise and pleasure. I instinctively rocked against him, my body knowing what to do even if my mind was lost in sensation.
"That's it, baby. Feel me," he growled, his hands guiding my hips as I moved on top of him. The control he gave me was empowering, and I experimented with different movements, watching his expressions to see what pleased him most.
"I'm going to come," I panted, feeling pressure building to an impossible level inside me. Every nerve ending in my body seemed to be converging toward one point.
His lips moved to the spot where my neck met my shoulder, his breath hot against my skin. "Then come for me, my true mate," he whispered.
The moment his words registered, I exploded into the most intense orgasm of my life, my entire body shuddering with release. Simultaneously, I felt his fangs pierce my neck. The pain mixed with pleasure created an indescribable feeling as I felt our mate bond forming—threads of golden light connecting our souls.
But then – a shock! I sensed a third presence joining our bond. My wolf! After twenty-two years of emptiness and feeling broken, I finally felt her – my very own wolf spirit stirring to life inside me! She had been dormant all this time, waiting for this moment, waiting for him.
Without thinking, I turned his head and bit his neck hard. He groaned and released inside me, the warmth completing our bond.
When I released his neck, I stared at him in wonder, wanting to tell him about my wolf but too exhausted to speak. His blood tinged my lips, and I realized what I'd done. A wave of guilt washed over me - I hadn't asked permission first.
Chapter 214 Chapter214
AURORA
Lawrence seemed to sense my concern. "It's okay, baby," he whispered, gently moving me beside him. "No need to apologize." He tenderly wiped hair from my face.
I realized he could now feel all my emotions through our bond, but I was too tired to speak. The connection between us felt overwhelming yet perfect. My eyes grew heavy as contentment spread through me. With my head on his chest, I drifted into a deep sleep, feeling truly whole for the first time in my life.
When I woke up again, it was 3 AM and my head was pounding so hard I thought it might split open. The pain throbbed behind my eyes, making it difficult to focus. Lawrence was still asleep beside me, his breathing deep and even. I carefully slid out from under his arm, not wanting to wake him.
My feet hit the cold floor as I made my way to the bathroom. The pain intensified with each step, feeling like something was trying to claw its way into my mind. What the hell is happening to me? This wasn't a normal headache - it felt like something was trying to possess me.
"Just breathe," I whispered to myself, closing the bathroom door. I gripped the sink with both hands, staring at my reflection. My eyes looked wild, pupils dilated despite the bright light.
Then it hit me - a surge of pressure so intense I dropped to my knees. I bit my lip to keep from crying out, tasting blood. This wasn't like anything I'd ever experienced. It didn't feel like our family bond mind-link. This was painful, invasive.
Something was trying to get inside my head. Something wanted to stay there forever.
I collapsed against the bathroom wall, fighting to stay conscious. The pressure built to an unbearable point, and just when I thought I couldn't take anymore, there was an enormous mental push. Like something finally breaking through a barrier.
And then... nothing. The pain vanished completely.
*Hello, Aurora. I'm Kaila, your wolf.*
I froze, heart hammering against my ribs. The voice in my head was gentle but distinct. Different from my own thoughts.
"Hello," I responded cautiously, still not quite believing this was happening. After twenty-two years of emptiness, of feeling broken and incomplete, my wolf was here?
*I'm sorry I couldn't break through sooner. But everyone was right. You felt so abandoned and broken. Those feelings were too strong, and I couldn't get past them. When Vanessa rejected us, it got worse because I felt that pain too.*
"I'm sorry," I whispered, guilt washing over me. "I wish I'd been strong enough to handle it all."
*Don't apologize. It wasn't your fault.* Her voice was soothing, wrapping around me like a warm blanket. *Lawrence and Rocky helped you start healing. When you fully accepted Lawrence and let him mark you, I found my opening. I marked Rocky too. I'm sorry for the pain it caused.*
The realization hit me hard. "So you were never really gone? You've been here all along, waiting?"
*Yes, Aurora. I've always been here, waiting for you.*
Tears slid down my cheeks. My whole life I'd thought I was defective, that my wolf had abandoned me just like my mother. But she'd been there the entire time, trapped behind walls of pain I'd built.
"I'm so glad you're here," I whispered. "You have no idea what this means to me."
*I do know. Remember, I feel everything you feel.*
I nodded, wiping my tears. Standing up, I took care of my bathroom needs, noting a small amount of blood from Lawrence taking my virginity last night. As I washed my hands, something on my wrist caught my attention.
A mark had appeared - a black wolf howling at the moon, with a smaller brown wolf lying beside it.
*It's a beautiful mark. Our mate is stronger than he admits.*
I smiled. "Yes, he is."
Carefully, I crept back to the bed. Lawrence's arm immediately wrapped around me, pulling me close against his chest in a spooning position. I'd never felt so safe, so complete.
"Took you a while," he murmured sleepily. "Are you okay?"
"Yes," I whispered back. "Better than I've ever been."
Lawrence nuzzled my neck. "Rocky says you met Kaila."
I couldn't help smiling. "I did. She's amazing."
"Of course she is," he said between kisses on my neck. "She's part of you."
I felt Kaila's happiness inside me as Lawrence's hands began roaming my body. *We can wait to shift,* she told me.
I whispered this to Lawrence, who agreed and continued kissing my neck. His hand slid down to my hip, then between my thighs. When he kissed the mark on my neck, I couldn't hold back a breathy moan.
"Lawrence," I gasped, feeling myself getting wet under his touch.
I heard him inhale sharply. "Goddess," he growled, his hand confirming how ready I was for him. He lifted one of my legs over his, then slowly, gently entered me from behind.
I winced slightly - I was still sore from our first time.
"Should I stop?" he asked immediately, his voice strained with the effort of controlling himself.
"No," I said. "Just... I'm a little sore."
"I'll be gentle," he promised. "I swear."
When he was fully inside me, we both moaned. The fullness was incredible. "Feeling you around me is amazing," he groaned, beginning to move with slow, shallow thrusts.
True to his word, Lawrence was gentle. The soreness faded quickly, replaced by waves of pleasure. It was different from our first time - less frantic, more intimate. I could feel every inch of him, every movement sending ripples of pleasure through my body.
We climaxed together, Lawrence holding me tightly against him as waves of pleasure washed over us both.
He didn't pull out immediately, just held me and kissed my shoulder. "I'll never get tired of feeling you wrapped around me," he whispered, then slowly withdrew.
I turned to face him, our noses almost touching. "I never imagined it would feel like this," I whispered.
"Me neither," he admitted, stroking my cheek. "You're beautiful."
I felt my face flush with heat. Lawrence pulled me into his arms, and I rested my head on his chest, listening to his heartbeat.
Hours later, we discussed our plans for when we reached Terni. Lawrence explained which areas he would search first. I told him I had an old photograph, so he'd know what "she" looked like. The thought of finally finding Vanessa made my stomach knot, but having Lawrence beside me made it bearable. At least now, with Kaila inside me, I wasn't facing this alone.
We showered together, got dressed, and walked to the pickup point for our ride to Terni. The driver was human, mistaking Lawrence for just my guide. The men said something in Italian and laughed, but Lawrence replied in their dialect, making them stop. After loading my bag, we climbed into the back of the truck, Lawrence making sure I was secure as the vehicle started moving.
Chapter 215 Chapter215
AURORA
The truck slowed to a stop at the edge of Terni, and I felt my heart rate pick up. Lawrence jumped out first, then extended his hand to help me down. I grabbed my backpack and surveyed our surroundings. This place felt different - the buildings mixed traditional Italian charm with subtle wolf elements. Terra-cotta rooftiles formed patterns suggesting running wolves, and weathered stone walls with ancient carvings whispered of centuries of pack history.
"You feel it?" Lawrence asked, lifting our bags from the truck bed.
"Yeah. It's exactly like you said," I whispered, inhaling deeply. "The air here... it's filled with wolf scent."
Every breath confirmed we were in wolf territory. Part of me felt relief - humans wouldn't notice anything odd about us here - but another part tensed up. We were strangers in another pack's territory, and I was getting closer to possibly finding Vanessa.
Lawrence nodded to the driver who pulled away, leaving us standing at the town's entrance. "We need to find the Watcher first," he said, scanning the streets.
We walked toward the center of town, passing stores with subtle wolf markings only our kind would recognize. Lawrence stopped a male wolf walking past us. "Excuse me, could you direct us to the Watcher?"
The wolf looked us over suspiciously, his nostrils flaring as he caught our scents. His eyes lingered on me longer than comfortable before he finally pointed down the road.
"Three blocks that way, then turn left. Place called Blood Moon Inn. He's there."
"Blood Moon Inn?" I blurted out. "Seriously? What do humans think about that name?"
Lawrence chuckled and took my hand. "Come on."
As we followed the directions, I couldn't help wondering what we'd find. Would this Watcher know anything about Vanessa? Would he even help us?
We were approaching the third block when a friendly voice called from behind us.
"You must be the visitors from America."
We turned to see a tall man with brown hair streaked with silver. He smiled warmly, no threat in his posture.
"I'm Donovan, Watcher of Terni."
Lawrence shifted slightly, positioning himself partly in front of me - a protective stance. "I'm Lawrence, and this is Aurora."
I stepped forward. "Hello. Yes, I'm from America. I'm looking for someone."
Donovan's eyes widened slightly in recognition. "Ah, we received word there might be a young lady from America coming through. Alpha Alexander mentioned it." He glanced at Lawrence with curiosity. "Though we were told you'd be traveling alone, without a wolf companion."
"I was," I explained, feeling warmth rise in my cheeks. "Lawrence and I met on the road. He saved me from three wolves who attacked me in Santo Stefano. Then we discovered we're true mates."
Donovan's expression softened. "I'm sorry about the attack, but congratulations on finding each other. That's wonderful news." He gestured down the street. "Let me take you to the inn and get you settled. You must be tired from your journey."
As we walked, Donovan glanced at me. "We were also told you're the daughter of Alpha King Jace Carter."
"Yes," I confirmed, then added quickly, "Once we're settled, could you please inform your Alpha that I've arrived in his territory? My father requested I let the Alpha know as soon as I arrived."
"Of course," Donovan nodded respectfully. "I'll notify him immediately after you're settled."
We approached a beautiful building made of wood and stone. The sign hanging outside showed a blood red moon for wolves, but I noticed another sign below it that read "Border Square Inn" in human language.
"Humans see a different name," Donovan explained, catching my curious look. "Welcome to Blood Moon Inn."
Inside, the lobby featured incredible woodwork with subtle wolf carvings. Donovan led us to the elevator after getting our room keys.
"We've prepared our finest suite for you," he said as the doors closed.
My stomach tightened. I wasn't used to special treatment outside my pack. "Thank you for your hospitality."
The suite was stunning - rustic yet elegant, with Native American-inspired wolf totems and artwork scattered throughout. A comfortable living area with couches, a mini-bar, dining area, and through an open door I glimpsed a huge bed. The bathroom had both a shower and tub. From the windows, I could see mountains in the distance.
"This is amazing," I gasped. "Thank you."
Donovan bowed slightly. "It's our honor to host you, Princess."
I cringed at the title. "Just Aurora is fine."
"The restaurant downstairs serves excellent food, but I can have something sent up if you prefer," Donovan offered. "I'll notify Alpha Alexander of your arrival immediately."
"Thank you," I said again.
After Donovan left, I turned to Lawrence. "He seemed nice."
Lawrence nodded, moving to look out the window. "The wolves here are different from Central Territory wolves. More open, like Northern wolves."
I pulled out my phone and texted my family:
[Made it to Terni safely! Staying at the Watcher's inn. He's notifying the Alpha that I'm here.]
Mom replied first: [Thank goodness, that's wonderful, dear.]
Dad's message came next: [Good work, Princess. Alpha Alexander called me this morning. He thinks he's found someone who knows Vanessa.]
My heart skipped. [I'll call him as soon as possible.]
Mom asked about Lawrence, and I smiled as I typed: [Yes, Mom, he's very sweet and caring.]
Lawrence came up behind me and pulled me into his lap on the couch. I leaned against his chest, feeling safe and warm in his arms.
"My dad says Alpha Alexander might have found someone who knows my mother," I told him, showing the message.
"That's great news," Lawrence kissed my temple. "It'll make our search much easier."
A knock at the door interrupted us. A female attendant entered with a cart of food - traditional wolf cuisine of rare meat, bread, and roasted vegetables.
"The Watcher Donovan asked me to inform you that he has notified Alpha Alexander of your arrival," she said before leaving.
After eating, I called Alpha Alexander's number.
"Alpha Alexander," a deep voice answered.
"Hello, this is Aurora Carter. I just arrived in Terni."
"Princess Aurora! Alpha King Jace's daughter. It's an honor," he responded warmly.
"Please just call me Aurora," I requested, hating the formality.
"As you wish, Aurora. You may call me Alex," he offered. "I'll come to Terni tomorrow morning to meet you and your companion. I believe I've located someone who knew Vanessa."
My heart raced at the news. "Thank you, we appreciate your help."
After hanging up, Lawrence and I went for a short walk around town. The way wolves and humans coexisted here fascinated me - each living their lives, separated by perception rather than physical barriers.
We returned to the inn as evening fell, my mind racing with possibilities of what tomorrow might bring.
Chapter 216 Chapter216
AURORA
I woke up with my insides twisted in pain. Today I would meet Alpha Alexander Vanderbilt. This could mean finally finding Vanessa. My search might end here. I paced back and forth across the room, fingers fidgeting with the wolf claw pendant at my neck. Damn, why was I so nervous? I didn't owe her anything.
Lawrence emerged from the bathroom with only a towel around his waist, water droplets trailing down his chest. "You okay?"
I nodded but said nothing. How could I be okay? I wasn't even sure if I wanted to find the woman who abandoned me or if I dreaded finding her.
"Beautiful, look at me," Lawrence said softly, stepping in front of me. "I can feel your emotions through our mate bond, remember?"
"This could end everything today," I whispered, my voice slightly shaky. "I might finally find out where she is."
"Whatever happens, I'll be right beside you," he promised, pressing a gentle kiss to my forehead.
"Thank you," I squeezed his hand. At least I wouldn't face this alone.
---
When we went downstairs, a woman was waiting for us in the lobby.
"Princess," she bowed, "good morning."
I tried not to roll my eyes. "Please just call me Aurora." I hated that title. It only reminded me how different I was—and not in a good way.
"Of course, Miss Aurora. Guardian Donovan and Alpha Alexander are waiting in the private dining hall. I've been asked to escort you."
I nodded, feeling my heartbeat quicken. Lawrence walked behind me, his hand resting lightly on my lower back, giving me strength.
We followed the woman into the private dining hall where five men were already present. I recognized Donovan. Across the table sat a young man who looked somehow familiar. At the end of the table sat Alpha Alexander, with two other men standing by the wall.
Donovan rose to welcome us. "Aurora, Lawrence, welcome. This is Alpha Alexander Vanderbilt." He gestured toward the imposing man at the end of the table. "These two are his Beta and brother, and that is Alexander's guest."
I bowed to Alpha Alexander. "Thank you for taking the time to see me, Alpha Lord Vanderbilt."
Alexander smiled. "Aurora, didn't we agree to drop the titles?"
"Sorry, just wanted to show respect in front of your pack members." I didn't want him thinking I was rude.
Alexander nodded, gesturing for us to sit. "I've spoken with your father Jace. He tells me you found your true mate in Italy?"
"Yes," I responded, sitting next to Lawrence. "It wasn't something either of us expected."
My gaze kept drifting to the young man. Something about him seemed familiar, but I couldn't place it.
"I've found someone who might help you locate Vanessa," Alexander said. I noticed he didn't say "your mother," and I appreciated that.
"Thank you," I said, my voice softer than usual. "Any lead helps."
Alexander turned his gaze to the young man. "This is Montgomery, your brother."
I froze in shock, my hand instinctively clutching Lawrence's arm. "What?" I almost screamed. A brother? I had a brother? How was that possible?
Montgomery looked as shocked as I felt, though he must have known I was coming. His eyes—God, they were her eyes.
"Vanessa is your mother?" I asked, my voice sharper than I intended. My heart pounded so fast it made me dizzy.
Montgomery nodded. "Yes, unfortunately."
His answer made me want to laugh and cry at once. At least the kid wasn't defending her. "How old are you?"
"Sixteen."
Sixteen! That meant she had another child not long after leaving me and Dad. I felt sick, had to take several deep breaths to control myself.
"Did she send you?" My voice was cold.
"No, she doesn't even know you're here," Montgomery said, fingers tapping lightly on the table. "We don't live together either."
I raised an eyebrow, waiting for him to continue. Had this kid been abandoned too?
"You know, she's not a good mother," he explained, his eyes too resolute for a sixteen-year-old. "I moved out three years ago and have been working and training on Lord Alexander's territory since then."
"So you know where she is?" I asked directly. Enough bullshit, I needed answers.
Montgomery nodded. "Yes. I talk to her every couple weeks. She... has a demanding job."
He paused, his eyes shifting. I knew he was hiding something.
"I knew I had a sister, but she told me you died. That's why she came here."
I felt a surge of anger. "She told you I was dead? Typical." I took a deep breath, trying to calm down. "She left when I was a few months old. My father and his true mate raised me. That woman is my real mom."
Montgomery looked understanding, nodding. Something in his eyes seemed older than his years.
"I had a happy childhood," I continued, "but her leaving broke something in my soul. That's why I came looking for her, for answers. But then I met Lawrence and discovered we're true mates, which healed me."
"If you want, I can take you to see her," Montgomery offered.
"Is she nearby?" My heartbeat sped up again.
"No, she's in Rome," he said. "Easier to find work there. That's what she says." His expression told me he was holding something back.
"What are you trying not to tell me?" I asked directly. I'd had enough of secrets and lies.
Montgomery looked at Alpha Alexander, who sighed.
"Vanessa makes her living by selling herself," Alexander said bluntly. "She's a prostitute."
I felt a strange relief, as if all the pieces finally fit together. "That explains a lot."
"I understand this is difficult," Alexander said.
"Thank you for your honesty," I replied, suddenly feeling exhausted. "But I need tonight to process this. It's too much information to absorb at once."
Alexander nodded. "Then I think we should all take a day to consider things and meet again for breakfast here tomorrow morning."
I agreed, thanked Donovan, and then Lawrence and I left. My legs felt weak, and if Lawrence hadn't been beside me supporting me, I might have fallen.
Back in our room, I sat on the bed, tears silently streaming down my face. Lawrence sat quietly beside me, his arm around my shoulders. He said nothing, just let me cry against him.
"She even told her own son I was dead," I finally spoke, my voice breaking. Lawrence held me tighter as I buried my face against his chest.
Chapter 217 Chapter217
AURORA
I couldn't sleep all night, debating whether to visit Vanessa or not. By morning, I finally made up my mind. I was going to see her.
"I need to do this today," I told Lawrence as sunlight crept through our window. "I need to see her and finish what I came here for."
Lawrence nodded, his eyes never leaving mine. "Then we'll do it today."
I found Donovan downstairs and told him my decision. He didn't question it, just nodded and made a phone call.
"Alpha Alexander can arrange it. His car will take us to Rome in about two hours," Donovan said, pocketing his phone.
Two hours? That was hardly enough time to prepare myself mentally.
Outside, Alpha Alexander waited with two warriors beside a sleek black SUV. Montgomery stood there too, shuffling his feet nervously. I still couldn't believe I had a brother. A freaking brother who thought I was dead.
"The car is waiting," Alexander said. "It'll take about two hours to reach there. I've sent two warriors ahead to find Vanessa and bring her to my estate."
I nodded stiffly, my throat too dry for words. Lawrence squeezed my hand as we climbed into Alexander's car. Montgomery joined us while Alexander's warriors followed in another vehicle.
Once we were moving, I studied Montgomery from the corner of my eye. He had her eyes – the same color that stared back at me in some of my baby photos.
"Do you go to school?" I asked, breaking the awkward silence.
He seemed surprised I'd spoken to him. "Yes. I'm in training to become a warrior too."
"I have other siblings," I said suddenly. "Atlas, Natalie, and Bree. They're my dad's children with my mom – my real mom."
Montgomery's eyebrows rose slightly.
"Atlas can be hot-headed sometimes, mainly because he's super protective. But he's the heir to the King position, so he needs to learn to be calmer so people respect him instead of fear him, like my dad."
I kept talking, filling the silence with stories about my family. It felt strange, like I was defending them to this boy who shared my blood but was a complete stranger.
Alexander turned to Lawrence. "What are your plans after this?"
"I'll be going to America with Aurora," Lawrence answered confidently. Alexander smiled at that, something like approval in his eyes.
Two hours later, we drove into Rome and then another twenty minutes through a forest until we reached Alexander's estate. The place was massive – an elegant mix of traditional and modern Italian architecture spread across acres of land.
"Welcome to my home," Alexander said. "I've had rooms prepared."
Inside, a warrior approached Alexander and whispered something. Alexander nodded and turned to me.
"Vanessa is here, in my office. She doesn't know why she's been brought here, and she doesn't know about your arrival."
My heart hammered against my ribs. This was it. After all this time.
"How do you want to proceed?" Alexander asked.
I straightened my shoulders. "Let's just do it. I want to end this. If we wait, it won't get any easier."
Alexander nodded and led us through the main house. When we reached his office door, he suggested Montgomery go in first to distract Vanessa.
I stood outside, feeling like I might throw up. Lawrence's hand found mine, his warmth the only thing keeping me grounded.
*This is the moment. This is why I came all this way.*
Montgomery went in first, then Alexander and Lawrence. I took a deep breath and followed. And there she was. She looked different from the photos Dad had shown me, but I could still recognize her.
Vanessa saw Montgomery and Alexander, completely missing me at first.
"My handsome boy, you finally got Alpha Alexander to see me," she said, her eyes hungrily scanning Alexander though her words were directed at Montgomery.
"You're not here because of Alpha," Montgomery clarified. "You know he doesn't need any of your services."
Vanessa's smile faltered. "If you don't need my services, why am I here?" She sounded annoyed.
Alexander stepped forward. "You're here because someone has been looking for you."
I moved into her line of sight. "It's me," I said, my voice steadier than I expected. "I've been looking for you. Hello, Vanessa."
Her eyes widened in shock. "Aurora," she whispered.
I stared at the woman who had given birth to me, waiting for... something. Remorse? Affection? But her shocked expression morphed into something twisted, almost triumphant.
"I'm not here for what you think," I said quickly. "This isn't some happy reunion."
Vanessa's lips curled into a smirk. "But you came. I knew you would eventually. I knew that stupid bitch of a mate your father found wouldn't keep you from me."
White-hot rage flooded through me. "Don't you dare talk about my mother like that. Yes, I call her my mother because that's what she is, not you."
Hatred and jealousy flashed in Vanessa's eyes, and I realized with sinking clarity that there was nothing maternal about this woman. Nothing warm. Nothing loving.
*God, coming here was a mistake.*
But I needed answers. I'd come too far to leave without them.
"I want answers," I said. "I need answers."
Vanessa crossed her arms. "What answers could I possibly give you?"
My voice dropped to almost a whisper. "Why did you abandon me when I was a baby? Why did you break the bond between mother and child? You rejected my father, fine, but why me? What was so wrong with me that you had to do that?"
Vanessa's face didn't change, not even a flicker of emotion. "It's very simple. You were a girl, so you were worthless."
Her words hit me like a physical blow. I actually stepped back.
"Yes, I wanted a boy," Vanessa continued, actually smirking as she saw my pain. "I needed a boy, an heir to your father's King position. Girls are just burdens. When I saw you were female, I knew I'd wasted my time."
Her eyes raked over me with such disgust that I struggled to breathe. She looked at me like I was something disgusting stuck to her shoe.
"I knew about your father's bloodline. That's why I went to a witch for help creating a fake mate bond. As long as your father marked me, he'd never know I wasn't his true mate. But then you were just a girl, completely worthless, and your father was so devoted to you. It was sickening how he doted on you." She laughed coldly. "I actually tried to get rid of you before you were born, but you were stubborn even then."
I stood there, completely shattered by her cruel words. Her coldness left me breathless, tears filling my eyes before I could stop them.
