After our shower, Lawrence and I got dressed. He chose dark blue jeans and a fitted t-shirt that hugged his broad shoulders and strong arms. Damn, he looked handsome. I also put on similar jeans and a comfortable top. After all, he was officially meeting my family today. Better to look decent.

Lawrence stood in front of me, his eyes filled with love as he gazed at me. "You're beautiful. I'm so lucky you're mine." He gently caressed my cheek and gave me a tender kiss.

I felt my eyes grow moist. "Thank you for accepting me, even with my not fully awakened wolf." This issue had troubled me for so long, making me feel incomplete. Not good enough.

"Even if you were completely human, I would still accept you," he said, kissing my wet eyes, his voice becoming solemn. "I will never make you feel like you're not good enough, never."

He pulled me into his embrace, and I felt his warmth and protection. No one had ever accepted me so unconditionally before.

"Are you ready to meet my family?" I asked, my voice trembling with nervousness.

Lawrence smiled confidently. "Yes. Let's go."

As we went downstairs, I held Lawrence's hand tightly. My heart was racing. Atlas saw us first, jumping up from his chair and running over to give me a big hug.

"Sis, I'm so glad you're back! Knowing you might be in danger nearly drove me crazy. Just ask Dad."

Father chuckled and shook his head. "Your brother felt very responsible for ensuring your safety. He barely gave me a moment's peace this whole time."

I couldn't help but smile. "I'm fine, Atlas. I know you've always cared about me, and I love you for it." Then I turned to Lawrence. "Brother, this is Lawrence, my true mate."

Lawrence nodded respectfully to Atlas. But Atlas waved his hand, laughing. "Don't be so formal. I'm not King yet, and you're family now. Thank you for keeping my sister safe and bringing her home." He extended his hand, which Lawrence took with a smile.

"Protecting her has been my honor. I'm fortunate she's my true mate," Lawrence said, his voice full of sincerity.

My twin sisters approached, looking Lawrence up and down. "Hi, we're Bree and Natalie, Aurora's sisters." I couldn't help rolling my eyes. God, they always do this, like they're evaluating a horse.

Lawrence chuckled politely. "Pleasure to meet you both."

Bree, never one to hold back, circled Lawrence once. "So you're the warrior who saved our sister? Dad said you fought off three attackers."

Natalie nudged her twin. "Don't embarrass him, Bree." She smiled at Lawrence. "Ignore her. We're just happy Aurora found you."

I shot them a warning look. "Enough with the interrogation, you two."

Mom gestured for the girls to sit down, making room for Dad. I glanced at Mom with worry, but she just smiled encouragingly. Don't worry, her eyes seemed to say.

Dad walked toward Lawrence, his voice serious and full of authority: "Lawrence." I noticed Lawrence was about the same height as my father. Thank goodness he wouldn't be intimidated by Dad's height at least.

Lawrence bowed his head slightly again in respect: "Your Majesty."

Dad stared at him for a moment, then chuckled. Lawrence visibly relaxed, his shoulders no longer so tense.

"Young man, stand tall. No need for such formality except on official occasions. Welcome to America, welcome to our family. We're glad you're here, and we can already see how strong the connection between you two is." Then his expression grew serious. "But that said, regardless of whether you're true mates or not, understand this—if you hurt her, you'll answer to me."

My heart jumped to my throat. Dad! Now isn't the time to threaten him!

But Lawrence looked my father straight in the eyes: "I have no intention of hurting her in any way. I waited for my true mate for a long time, and had given up finding her. But now that I have her, she's the most precious thing in my life. I will protect her with my life, always."

Dad and Lawrence locked eyes for a moment, then Dad nodded with a smile. I quietly sighed in relief.

"Does she know your true identity?" Dad suddenly asked. I saw Lawrence swallow hard.

What true identity? I looked at him, confused.

"No, sir, not yet," Lawrence turned to me, his eyes apologetic.

"What's going on?" I asked, feeling a twinge of unease.

Lawrence took a deep breath. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you, but I've been running from this truth since I discovered it myself. At eighteen, I found out the couple who raised me weren't my biological parents. The woman I thought was my mother was actually my nanny. When my parents were killed, she managed to convince the murderer I was her son. That murderer was Alpha Charles Huntington, and my parents were Alpha Anthony Westbrook and Luna Louisa."

"What?" I asked in surprise. Alpha Anthony Westbrook? That was a big deal! Lawrence nodded firmly.

"I was going to tell you. But I didn't want my past to affect your journey. And I've never been formally acknowledged as Anthony's son. But I promise, I was going to tell you. I wouldn't keep things from you."

I hugged him. "It's okay, I believe you. I can feel your sincerity, remember? Our connection doesn't lie."

Lawrence turned to my father. "Thank you for understanding. I never wanted to be an Alpha, but I am a good warrior. I hope to join your guardian team and contribute to protecting the pack."

My father smiled with satisfaction. "Welcome to this family, Lawrence. Whether you're a born Alpha or not, we're glad to have you here."

"Thank you for accepting me." Lawrence's voice was full of gratitude.

Finally, Mom said gently, "Alright, my turn now." Everyone laughed, including Mom herself. She gave Lawrence a warm hug, officially welcoming him to the family.

Mom added that she thought Lawrence had endured enough questioning for tonight, and dinner was ready. "We've prepared a traditional feast. I hope you enjoy our local cuisine, Lawrence."

As we headed to the dining room, I caught Atlas giving Lawrence a thumbs-up behind Dad's back. My heart swelled. My family was actually making an effort. Even the twins were whispering and giggling, but not in their usual judgmental way.

Lawrence leaned close to my ear. "Your family is wonderful, Aurora. Just like you said they would be."

I felt a surge of happiness I hadn't experienced in years. After everything—my search for Vanessa, the attacks, the revelations about my past—something beautiful had emerged. I had found my true mate, and my family had embraced him without hesitation.
