The Human Girl Who Tamed Alpha King Chapter 225
LAWRENCE
I felt Rocky's power merging with my soul and spirit. The sensation spread through every part of me - strange yet exhilarating. Stronger. More alert. Connected to everything around me. But also overwhelming. Standing on two legs felt oddly unnatural now.
*Rocky?* I called internally to my wolf.
*I'm here,* he answered immediately, his voice stronger and clearer than before.
*I feel good, stronger. But it's weird. Standing on two legs feels strange,* I told him, flexing my fingers and rolling my shoulders to adjust.
*You're right, this is definitely a good thing. I can even talk to Luke now,* Rocky replied, referring to Atlas's Primal Wolf.
*That's a big deal, Rocky, but a good one,* I agreed, trying to make sense of these new sensations. The power coursing through me felt ancient and wild, yet it wasn't fighting against me or Rocky. It enhanced us, made us more than we were before.
The banquet hall buzzed with whispers. I could hear every single one now - another new ability. People were awed, scared, envious. I tuned them out and focused on controlling the raw energy flowing through me.
After a few moments, I shifted back to human form. The process felt smoother, faster. When I finished, my clothes were still intact. That was new. Usually shifting destroyed whatever I wore, but the Primal Wolf power had preserved them. No more awkward naked moments in front of the pack.
I caught Aurora's eyes across the room. The pride radiating from her made my chest tighten. Her smile was just for me. The mate bond between us pulsed with warmth.
Atlas stood at the front, addressing everyone. "Tonight exceeded expectations," he said. "It's almost midnight. Anyone willing can join me and my family for a run under the moonlight. Extra guardians are patrolling the borders to ensure safety."
As people prepared for the run, Alpha Louis and his daughter approached Atlas. I quickly made my way over to introduce them, feeling a new sense of responsibility with my enhanced role as Beta.
"My King," I said formally, still getting used to addressing Atlas this way, "this is Alpha Louis, the French pack Alpha who assisted us with the bloodline verification we needed. This is his daughter, sorry, I don't remember your name."
"Maddie, Beta," she answered politely, her eyes widening slightly as she looked at me. I wondered if she could sense the new power emanating from me.
Alpha Louis bowed slightly. "My King, Beta. It's an honor to be here. I just wanted to tell you that I, along with the other French pack Alphas, fully support you."
Atlas nodded appreciatively. "Alpha, welcome, and thank you for your support. And thank you for the help you provided to my family when we needed it. Would you like to join us for the run?"
"I would be honored, my King," Louis replied. "Maddie isn't eighteen yet, so she doesn't have her wolf yet. My eldest daughter recently lost her mate in a rogue attack, so my mate is staying in France to take care of her."
Atlas's expression softened. "I'm sorry to hear that. I hope she makes it through this difficult time. Your daughter is very welcome to wait here or outside if she wishes. I promise she'll be safe."
"Thank you for your generosity, my King," Louis replied.
After they walked away, I moved closer to Atlas. "I'll never get used to people bowing to me," I admitted, running a hand through my hair.
Atlas chuckled. "After tonight, I finally understand why my father hates being called 'my King' so much."
I studied his face, noticing the tension around his eyes and the tightness in his jaw. "Are you okay, Atlas?" I asked quietly, keeping my voice low so only he could hear.
"Completely? No, but I can handle it," he answered honestly. "I know the decision I made today was right."
"If you need to fight it out in the training area, just tell me," I offered, knowing sometimes physical exertion was the best release for leadership pressures. I'd spent enough time there myself working through my own demons.
"I will, thanks," he said with a small smile that didn't reach his eyes.
As we made our way toward the exit, we were intercepted by Aria, Aurora, Seraphina, and Eliana. Aria approached me first, her eyes warm with gratitude.
"Thank you, Lawrence, and Rocky too. For your loyal service to Atlas all this time," she said.
"No need to thank me; as Beta, I'm just doing what needs to be done," I replied, feeling awkward with the gratitude. I was more comfortable with action than words. Always had been.
I embraced Aurora, breathing in her scent that always calmed me. My hands automatically went to her waist, drawing her closer. "Has Kaila settled down?" I asked, referring to her wolf who had been agitated earlier.
"Yes, she's very proud of you and Rocky," Aurora answered, her eyes sparkling. "Even if she has to share Rocky's connection with Luke."
I looked at Aria and the others. "Rocky and Luke can talk to each other through mind link," I explained, watching their expressions shift from shock to amazement. They stared at me for a moment, processing this information.
"You truly are a blessing from the Moon Goddess to our family, Lawrence," Aria said, hugging me briefly.
We continued toward the doors, with the women walking ahead. Aurora and I stayed back a moment to thank the omegas who were cleaning up.
When we joined our family outside, people were already undressing, preparing to shift. The night air felt cool against my skin, carrying the scents of the forest - pine, earth, and the faint musk of animals.
"I'll be in wolf form tonight so I can run with Aurora and Kaila," I announced to everyone, already feeling Rocky's excitement building in my chest.
Jace nodded. "That's good," he said simply, then addressed the group. "Everyone, let's run."
I shifted into my wolf form beside Aurora, feeling the incredible power coursing through me. This was the Rocky I'd always known, just enhanced, stronger, more aware. He was excited, eager to run with Kaila. Aurora transformed, her wolf form smaller than mine, her reddish-brown fur gleaming in the moonlight.
We ran together through the forest, our paws silent on the soft earth. The full moon hung bright above us. Rocky and Kaila playfully nipped and chased each other, their happiness flowing between us. This was freedom - running wild under the moon with my mate by my side.
Through our mate bond, Aurora and I communicated clearly, even in wolf form.
*I'm proud to have you as my mate,* she told me through our mind link, her wolf eyes filled with affection.
*You deserve everything, Aurora,* I responded, my heart full. *I would fight the entire pack for you, even Atlas. Having you makes my life complete.*
Rocky howled to the moon, and I felt whole.
