The Human Girl Who Tamed Alpha King Chapter 131
JACE
The dinner last night was pretty good. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, and Marcus and Seraphina were happy seeing their kids. After we ate, Marcus announced that the West area, including our training fields and center, was open to anyone who wanted to use it. He also mentioned that the forests were secured if anyone wanted to go for a run.
Once all the messages were delivered, we headed back home while the guests either went to rest or explore the grounds. Aria and I put the kids to bed, finally getting some time to ourselves. Sometimes she fights more like a wolf than a human these days, that wild part of her getting stronger.
I wake up before the alarm goes off, force of habit. Glancing at the clock - shit, 5:47. Training starts in thirteen minutes, gotta move. I turn to look at Aria, still sound asleep next to me. The way she looks when she's sleeping always gets me.
I press a soft kiss to her forehead before carefully rolling out of bed. Need to grab my training pants and a T-shirt fast. Last time I came back covered in sweat, she complained all day. Something about "hating werewolf training smell," as if she doesn't smell the same way.
Dressed and ready, I tiptoe out of the bedroom. On my way to the training grounds, I can't help but push open the kids' doors to check on them. Aurora and little Atlas are both sleeping soundly, their faces peaceful. I quietly close their doors and slip out of the house, heading toward Ancient Moon Shadow's training grounds.
The training area is already busy. Lucas, Marcus, Nicholas, and Hunter are each leading their groups through warm-ups. I notice Nicholas shadowing his father, clearly wanting to help with the training. Kid's got ambition.
Marcus spots me first. He immediately halts and addresses me respectfully: "Alpha King."
"Morning, Marcus," I nod to him, then look toward his son. "Nicholas, good to see you."
Nicholas bows his head in respect: "Alpha King."
I shake his hand firmly. "Hello, Nicholas, good to see you."
"Likewise, Alpha King," he responds. I smile at him, then glance over at Marcus and Lucas.
"Need any help today?" I ask them.
Lucas wipes sweat from his brow. "Everything's under control, but extra help is always welcome."
"I'll hang around and observe, see how things are going," I tell them. They all nod respectfully before returning to their training groups.
I stand at the edge of the field, watching the various groups go through their daily routines. Lucas really has everything running smoothly, especially with Marcus helping out. I notice several Alphas from smaller packs watching the training from the sidelines. Good sign – means our alliances are strengthening.
After training wraps up, I exchange a few words with Lucas before walking over to the visiting Alphas. They lower their heads in respect as I approach.
"Hello," I say with a smile.
"Alpha King," the three Alphas bow their heads again.
One of them speaks up: "We hope you don't mind us watching."
"Not at all. You're welcome to observe anytime," I tell them. The Alphas all express their thanks. I study their expressions, sensing they have something on their minds. Better to address it directly.
"Is there something I can help with?" I ask.
The Alpha with the strongest presence speaks quietly: "Alpha King, there's something we'd like your permission for."
I nod. "I sensed that. What can I do for you?"
He glances at his companions, then explains: "You see, among the three of us, only I was born an Alpha. These two were Betas who were granted Alpha titles after their pack Alphas were killed by Silver Blade Hunters. Our packs are very close to each other, so we're requesting permission to merge the three packs into one. I would serve as Alpha, with these two as Beta and Chief Guardian, since I've never had a Chief Guardian, and my Beta was killed in an attack." The other two Alphas nod in agreement.
I completely understand their situation. Smaller packs always face greater threats, especially in these unstable times.
"I understand why you'd want to do this, and I think it's a good idea. It'll make all of you stronger and safer," I pause briefly. "How will you decide who becomes Beta and who becomes Chief Guardian?"
"Through friendly combat, Alpha King," the Alpha replies, and I nod approvingly.
"That's a good approach. If this will keep all of you and your packs safer, I'm happy to give my approval."
Their relief is obvious as they respond in unison: "Thank you, Alpha King. Thank you."
"No problem. If you need any help with the process, just let us know," I tell them. They promise they will.
"Good. Now, I need to shower and eat before preparing for the meeting," I inform them. After saying goodbye, I head back home.
At home, I find Aurora getting ready to leave for the Wolf Cub Center, accompanied by Martha. I give my daughter a big hug and kiss, watching them leave. Then I head upstairs to find Aria on the floor playing with little Atlas. Seeing my wife and son together always improves my mood.
"Hey," I sit down beside her, tickling Atlas's tiny feet. "Training's done."
"I can tell – you smell like you've been working hard," Aria laughs.
"I know, heading to shower soon. But first, something to tell you." I spend a few minutes telling her about the three small packs wanting to merge.
Aria thinks for a moment: "That's a good idea, but we need to make sure everything goes according to plan."
"I'll have Hunter keep a close eye on it," I promise.
She smiles, pleased: "Good."
I kiss her, then head off to shower. The hot water washes away the sweat and fatigue from training, preparing me for the meeting ahead.
After my shower, I'm about to put on a suit and tie when I remember what Aria said in the office two days ago. "It's just a regular meeting, don't be so formal." She's always reminding me that as Alpha King, I don't need to maintain a serious image all the time.
I change into dark jeans and a button-up shirt without a tie. When I come downstairs, Aria is ready too, wearing a simple knee-length dress. In my eyes, she's always the most beautiful woman in the room.
"You look great," she says, stepping forward to kiss me.
"So do you, beautiful. Let's get this meeting over with." I take her hand, and together we leave the house, walking toward the castle.
Chapter 139 Chapter139
JACE
Aria and I walk into the castle's meeting hall, and I'm holding her hand tighter than usual. These meetings always make her tense, though she'd never admit it. Can't blame her – even I feel the pressure. Twenty-something pack Alphas, most with their Lunas, plus those joining remotely through the screens – enough dominant energy to make anyone crack.
Marcus and Lucas are already waiting at our table. I notice Marcus's expression is even more serious than usual. Must be yesterday's attack reports getting to him.
"Ready?" I ask Aria quietly, pulling out her chair.
"Never really ready," she manages a smile, "but I'll get through it."
I sit beside her, take a deep breath, and stand to face the room. Damn, they're all staring at me. Seven months ago, I was just a regular Alpha. Now I'm their king.
"Good morning, everyone," I begin, my voice steadier than I expected. "You all know why you've been invited here today. First, Rogue attacks have become more frequent, and we've sent scouts to investigate why. Meanwhile, if your packs need assistance, Ancient Moon Shadow will provide all the help we can, and I know many larger packs are doing the same."
The Alphas maintain their stoic expressions, but I can sense several from smaller packs visibly relaxing. They've suffered the worst attacks recently.
"We suggest smaller packs strengthen their cooperation and help each other. Ancient Moon Shadow offers not only protection but also warriors willing to travel and train your members. All details have been sent to your emails, including contact information for when your packs need assistance."
I scan the room, noting several Alphas nodding in understanding. At least some grasp the importance of cooperation.
"Any questions before we continue?"
As expected, no one speaks up. Either they completely understand, or they don't want to appear uncertain in front of everyone. Whatever – my inbox will be flooded with questions after the meeting.
"Now, not everything is about challenges and difficulties," I try to lighten my tone. "My Chief Guardian and a friendly Alpha have proposed a new idea. I'll let them explain their plan."
I sit back down beside Aria, whose hand slips discreetly into mine. This small gesture provides me with indescribable comfort. I gently rub my thumb across the back of her hand, watching Lucas and Marcus stand and approach the front.
"No matter what happens," I whisper to Aria, "at least this part will be interesting."
She gives me a slight smile. "You know some of the old-school Alphas are going to be fuming."
Marcus clears his throat. "Hello, everyone. You all know me. After the last Sacred Moonlight Gathering, I handed my pack over to my son, Alpha Nicholas. My mate and I decided to come here to help our new King and Queen."
Pride resonates in his voice, warming something inside me. When the Moon Goddess chose Aria and me, I worried other Alphas would resist, but powerful allies like Marcus have made everything easier.
Lucas continues, "I'm Lucas Silverbrook, recently taking over from my father Gabriel as Chief Guardian, with Marcus's considerable help. Working with someone as capable and impressive as Marcus has been useful and amazing. A bit intimidating, but who wouldn't be?"
This comment draws laughter from around the room.
Lucas explains, "During our work, we've discussed many ways to best protect everyone. We all know the best approach is helping and cooperating with each other. To help bring packs together, we're planning a Winter Moon Festival. As you know, we don't actually get snow here, so it will still be held outdoors."
Marcus takes over, "The Winter Moon Festival will primarily be for building alliances and identifying which neighboring packs could use more help. But it's not just about business. We'll also host parties to celebrate the passing of this year's winter moon."
I can feel Aria getting excited beside me. She loves festivals and parties, despite her serious demeanor. It's her human side – no matter how much wolf she's gained, she maintains her love for simple joys.
"Unlike previous events," Marcus continues, "we won't hold tracking, hunting, and racing competitions. We'll focus contests on pack leaders, such as Alphas, Betas, and Chief Guardians
. Most uniquely, we want to create a category for Lunas."
The room suddenly falls silent. I watch the Alphas' expressions shift from interest to confusion. Aria stiffens beside me, and I know what she's thinking – this is her chance to participate rather than just watch from the sidelines.
Finally, one Alpha stands to break the silence: "What kind of category are we talking about?"
Marcus answers without hesitation: "We all want to showcase strong leadership. So the Luna competition is combat."
I survey the room, seeing many Lunas' faces light up with surprised smiles, including Aria's. Her eyes flash with that familiar hunger for battle I've seen so often on the training grounds. She may have been human once, but her warrior spirit never changed.
"Are you serious?" another Alpha questions, unmistakable disapproval in his voice.
"You want Lunas to fight?" a third Alpha asks, as if the idea is utterly absurd.
A fourth Alpha, thank the Moon Goddess, seems more rational: "I believe the Alpha King and his advisors have considered how to ensure their safety."
Discussion erupts instantly, turning the entire hall into a chaotic debate. I let them speak freely, wanting to see each pack's genuine reaction to the idea. Some Alphas look furious, while others seem to be seriously considering it. Most interestingly, several Lunas have stood up to join the conversation, which makes me smile.
Aria leans toward me and whispers, "This is exactly the reaction you wanted, isn't it?"
I nod. "Let them debate. See which Alphas truly respect their Lunas and which ones just treat them like decorations."
As I observe, I see an Alpha roughly grab his Luna's arm, forcefully pushing her back into her seat. Her face flushes with humiliation, anger and tears flashing in her eyes.
Enough. I cannot tolerate this behavior.
I stand up, and the room immediately falls silent.
"SILENCE!" I command, letting my Alpha power flood the room.
The effect is instant. Every wolf freezes, the air vibrating with my authority. That's better. I scan the room, making sure everyone's calmed down, when I notice Aria tensing beside me.
She's spotted something across the room - an Alpha forcing a female wolf to kneel beside him. The guy's face is twisted in cruel satisfaction. Sam, if I remember correctly, from one of the northern territories.
I feel Aria's fury before she even moves. She stands suddenly, walking across the room with purpose. I don't stop her. My queen can handle herself, and sometimes her approach works better than mine.
