The Human Girl Who Tamed Alpha King Chapter 141
JACE
It's a full moon tonight, and the last three weeks have been more busy than ever. Everyone in Ancient Moon Shadow territory working overtime to prepare for what's coming. My muscles ache from the constant tension, but there's no time to rest. Not with the Rogue King's threat hanging over us.
I walk through town, checking every shelter and reinforced basement. Can't risk leaving anyone exposed when the attack comes. My people's safety comes first—always has.
"Alpha King, we've finished securing the east wing," a Guardian calls, jogging up to me.
"Good. Any stragglers?"
"No sir. Everyone's following orders exactly as instructed."
Satisfaction spreads through my chest. At least something's going right. "Tell the remaining families they need to be in safe locations by tomorrow night. No exceptions."
"Yes, my King."
As he leaves, I can't help reflecting on how far we've come. Especially Aria. From human to warrior Queen in less than a year. When the Moon Goddess gifted her with Sage, none of us knew what she'd become. Now she trains harder than any born wolf, pushing the limits of what's possible.
She's found a way to let Sage take complete control in wolf form while maintaining her human strategic thinking. The combination is deadly—exactly what we need against the Rogue King. The same monster who murdered Gabriel's mate Bree all those years ago. The same bastard who now wants my mate for himself.
Not happening. Not while I breathe.
I finish my rounds and head home, needing to see Aria before tonight's final preparations. As I approach our house, voices drift through the open window. Aria sounds frustrated. Gabriel sounds stubborn. Nothing new there.
"Dad, I need you to do this," Aria's saying as I walk in.
Gabriel stands with arms crossed, Greta and Lucas flanking him on either side. "I need to be outside. I can't let you do this alone. I taught you how to fight since you were just a human child."
"Dad, please. Now I have Sage, I'm not just human anymore."
"Little deer, try to understand." Gabriel's voice breaks slightly. "I want him dead too. If I can't kill him myself, I at least want to see it happen. That Rogue King killed Bree."
"Dad, we all know if you're out there, you'll try to fight. It could kill you. Fang is already too weak."
Lucas steps closer to his father. "Dad, please listen to her."
I move fully into the room. Everyone turns to me, tension crackling in the air.
"Gabriel," I say, keeping my voice steady, "we know what this means to you. But you know you can't be on the battlefield. Your health won't allow it." I step closer. "I promise you Aria will be safe. As your Alpha and King, I give you my word we won't kill him in battle. We'll weaken him, capture him, and then Aria will kill him herself. You can watch or help her then. As a human, you taught her to fight. Now with Sage, she's stronger than ever before."
Gabriel stays silent for a long moment. Then his shoulders drop slightly. "Yes, my King. As you wish, I'll care for our family."
"Thank you." I place my hand on his shoulder. "I've made sure everything you need—food, clothes, diapers, toys, and bedding—is already in the safe room. But check it and tell me if anything's missing."
He nods, some of the fight going out of him. Seeing Gabriel this way—weakened, fading—still shocks me. The man who taught Aria to be a warrior, reduced to this.
Suddenly, Gabriel freezes halfway to the door. At the exact same moment, a mind-link message blasts through my head:
'ALPHA, someone approaching from the north.'
Greta grabs her wrist, her face tightening. "My magic alert is reacting."
"Gabriel, take care of our family," I order immediately.
I turn to Aria, whose body has already tensed for battle. "Baby, stay by my side. Sage will protect you, but don't take risks."
Greta moves closer to Aria, hands glowing faintly. "I sense magic presence, but my protection spells are holding. Your blend of human and wolf makes you both vulnerable and powerful. I'll come with you to strengthen the protections."
We race to the northern border, meeting our Guardians posted there. One points toward the tree line. "My King, they're by Moonlight Lake." The name has been preserved in our new territory.
I see him then—the Rogue King—walking confidently toward our territory. Instinctively, I shift Aria partially behind me. Not enough to insult her warrior pride, but enough to shield her if needed.
"Your Majesty," the Rogue King calls mockingly.
"Rogue, you have no business here," I reply, voice cold.
He grins, showing too many teeth. "Oh, but I do. I've come, hoping for the good of you and your pack, to peacefully take your Queen away. Her interesting human-wolf hybrid nature is quite valuable."
"Then you've wasted your time. My mate, my Queen, isn't going anywhere with you."
The Rogue King pretends to consider my words. "I thought a King would be wise, putting his people before himself."
"That won't work, Rogue," I growl. "I am thinking of my people. Losing their Queen would hurt them as much as it would hurt me."
"You already have your heir," he sneers. "What do you need a simple human-blooded female for? A good fuck? I'm sure there's more than one purebred bitch in your pack who wouldn't mind you fucking them."
Aria lunges forward, and I barely catch her. Her eyes flicker between green and silver—Sage fighting for control against Aria's human half.
"No one touches my mate that way because he is MINE!" she snarls. "I might have once been just human, but now I'll show you what Sage and I can do. If you think I'd let anyone who tries to touch me keep their hands and life, you're delusional."
The Rogue King smirks. "Isn't that adorable? A human girl with a wolf spirit thinking she's powerful. Unfortunately, this means I'll have to take you by force. My Queen."
Aria growls again, struggling against my grip. Her voice is a strange mix of human rage and wolf snarl. "Then try it. You won't leave this place alive. Sage and I will make sure of it."
The Rogue King stares at us for a long moment. Then his face hardens. "As you wish." He turns, signaling behind him, and shouts, "ATTACK!"
