An Alpha is forcing a woman to kneel beside him. Her face twisted in discomfort. My blood boils instantly.

Before I even realize what I'm doing, I'm moving across the room. Jace doesn't stop me - he never does when my protective instincts kick in. I crouch down beside the trembling woman, my voice softening.

"Hey, are you okay?" I ask, keeping my voice gentle but firm.

The woman doesn't look up, her body shaking slightly. Her fear hits me hard - that could've been me once, when I was just human without Sage's power.

I stand up straight, facing the Alpha. I recognize him now - Sam, from one of the smaller packs.

"Remove your command," I say, keeping my voice steady. My hands curl into fists at my sides, but I maintain control. Lucas trained me better than to lose my cool immediately.

Sam gives me a dismissive look, lips curling into a smirk. "With all respect, Silverbrook, this is my right."

My jaw tightens. "You're hurting her. So I'll say it again - remove your command." I feel something stirring inside me - Sage, responding to my anger.

"She's not my Luna..." Sam says, his smug smile widening. "At least not yet."

The implication makes something snap inside me. I feel Sage's energy surge through my body, my voice changing as I speak.

"NOW. Remove your command!" The power behind my words makes even me shiver.

To everyone's shock - especially mine - Sam suddenly drops to his knees, just as he'd forced the woman to do. The control must show on my face because the woman finally looks up, disbelief and hope flashing across her features.

"It's okay now," I tell her softly. "You can stand."

Around us, whispers break out. I catch fragments about the "human Luna" and her "unexpected power." I ignore them, focusing on the woman who's slowly rising to her feet.

"Why would you treat your mate like this?" I ask Sam, genuinely confused. The bond between mates is supposed to be sacred.

The woman flinches. "I'm not his mate," she whispers, eyes darting nervously to Sam. "His real Luna is back at the packhouse."

My stomach drops. "Then why are you here?"

She shuffles uncomfortably. "Alpha Sam always does this. We hardly ever see his real Luna. Only the girls who work at the packhouse, and the ones he brings back for... entertainment." Her voice breaks on the last word.

"My true mate is waiting for me at home," she continues, a tear escaping. "I didn't want to come here. I don't want to hurt him."

I'm so shocked by her confession that I unconsciously loosen my control over Sam. Big mistake.

He lunges at me, hands going straight for my throat. But years of Lucas's brutal training kick in. I sidestep, twisting my body, and deliver a precise kick that sends Sam sprawling to the ground.

Lucas and several other warriors move immediately, pinning Sam down. I notice Jace approaching, a low, threatening growl emanating from his chest. But he doesn't interfere, just watches me with pride in his expression.

Breathing heavily, I stare down at Sam. "I just proved I'm stronger than you. Why would you attack me?"

Sam spits on the ground. "Damn outsider. You're just a human bitch in wolf skin."

Jace's growl gets louder, but he lets me handle this. I straighten my shoulders, turning to the woman.

"We'll make sure you get home safely to your mate," I promise her.

Her relief is immediate. "Thank you, Miss Silverbrook."

Jace steps forward then, his voice cold with authority. "Alpha Sam, you will be investigated for how you run your pack and treat your Luna."

Sam sneers. "So what? My pack, my rules."

Jace's expression darkens. "Forcing another wolf against her and her mate's wishes, deliberately hurting your true Luna with your infidelity - that violates kingdom law that's stood for centuries. You will be punished."

He gestures to Lucas. "Take him to the holding room. You'll stay there until further notice, Sam. For your sake, I suggest you cooperate."

As Lucas and Hunter drag Sam away, a young man approaches us cautiously. He looks like a younger version of Sam - must be his son.

"I apologize, Alpha Carter," he says formally. "My father's actions have disrupted your gathering."

I can tell he's genuinely embarrassed. Poor kid, carrying the weight of his father's disgrace.

In the moment after Sam is dragged away, I notice several Lunas glancing at me from their seats, their eyes filled with a mixture of awe and curiosity. The petite blonde Luna seated at the table across from me leans forward slightly.

"You stood up to him without hesitation, my Queen," she says softly, her voice carrying just far enough for those nearby to hear. "Most wouldn't dare challenge an Alpha like that."

I smile, the human part of me still uncomfortable with admiration. "I was human before I was wolf. I remember what it feels like to be powerless."

Another Luna two seats away nods respectfully. "That's what makes you different, my Queen. You understand both worlds."

I feel Sage's presence warming inside me, no longer fighting my human instincts but enhancing them. My dual nature isn't a weakness—it's become my greatest strength.

For a moment, I imagine what Gabriel would think if he could see me now. In my mind's eye, I can picture his weakened face lit with unmistakable pride. He'd always believed in me, even when I was just a human girl training among wolves.

"The strongest leaders protect, not dominate," I tell them quietly as the meeting continues around us, channeling his wisdom. "That's something I knew long before I had fangs or claws."

As they listen intently, hanging on my words, I realize I'm no longer caught between two worlds. I've become a bridge between them.

The meeting continues after that. Hours of discussion about territory boundaries, resource allocation, and protection agreements. By the end, we reach a major decision - Lunas who want to fight can become warriors, those who don't won't be forced.

When servants bring in dinner, I realize we've been at this all day. My muscles ache from sitting so long. I catch Jace looking at me from across the table, a small smile playing on his lips despite the tension of the day.

After everyone's eaten, Jace stands to address the room. "Each pack will receive detailed notes from today's meeting, plus information about the upcoming Winter Moon Festival. Thank you all for your time."

As we walk back to our quarters, the night air cool against my skin, I glance at Jace.

"You're not going to deal with Sam tonight?"

Jace squeezes my hand gently. "We'll handle it in the morning. There's just too much going on today."
