The Human Girl Who Tamed Alpha King Chapter 150

JACE

I am standing outside the castle watching as Alpha and Lunas come when Marcus comes walking across the road.

"Your Highness."

"Marcus."

He stopped beside me, scanning the area with practiced ease. "You don't need to stand here all day."

"I should be greeting the guests," I said, watching another car pull up.

"You will when everyone's here. For now, take a break. Or stand here all day if you prefer, my king." The hint of amusement in his voice wasn't lost on me.

"Should we assign someone to greet them?"

"Already taken care of. Everyone's being well looked after." Marcus adjusted his jacket. "Go home, rest, and prepare for tonight's dinner."

He was right. The formal dinner tonight would kick off the festivities, and I needed to be at my best. As King of the Ancient Moon Shadow, hosting this event meant everything had to be perfect.

We walked together toward my private residence at the edge of the pack grounds. My guards stood straighter as we approached, and Marcus gave a formal bow.

"I'll see you tonight," he said, turning to leave.

I nodded to my guards as I passed through the entrance. The moment I stepped inside, I heard laughter coming from the living area. The sound made something in my chest loosen.

Aurora's excited squeal reached me before I saw her. "Daddy!"

She ran toward me, and I swept her up, kissing her forehead. Atlas wasn't far behind, moving with a little less coordination but just as much enthusiasm.

"Hey, princess," I said to Aurora. "Having fun?"

Atlas tugged at my pants leg, and I picked him up too, balancing both kids with practiced ease.

Eliana sat in the corner of the room, watching with a smile. She was good with the kids, gentle but firm when needed. I gave her a grateful nod.

"Where's Aria?" I asked.

"Training room," Eliana replied. "She's been practicing all morning."

I set the kids down, promising to come back and play soon. Making my way upstairs, I headed straight for the training room. The sound of movement reached me before I got there - quick footsteps, controlled breathing.

I leaned against the doorframe, content to watch. Aria moved with precision, completing a complex sequence of strikes and kicks. Her body flowed through the movements with a grace that still captivated me years after first seeing her fight.

She finished with a spinning back kick that would have dropped anyone unfortunate enough to be in its path. That's when she noticed me.

"Hey," she said, slightly breathless.

"Hey, beautiful, that looked good. You're in great shape." I couldn't keep the appreciation from my voice.

She grabbed a towel from the bench, wiping sweat from her face. "Thanks. I want to be at my best."

"And you are. You looked amazing." I stepped closer. "Your dad will be proud, and we both know you'll win."

She tossed the towel aside. "I need a shower."

"I can help with that." I moved closer, sliding an arm around her waist.

"I'm sure you can." She raised an eyebrow. "But we're not alone. Eliana could walk in anytime."

I picked her up, making her gasp. "We better hurry then."

I carried her to our bathroom, kicking the door shut behind us. The shower started quickly, and clothes dropped even faster. Water cascaded over us as I pressed her against the tile wall, her legs wrapping around my waist.

"We need to be quick," she whispered against my mouth.

"Yes, ma'am," I replied, then silenced further conversation with a kiss.

"We're late."

I struggled with my earrings while watching Jace dress in the mirror. He looked calm, buttoning his shirt slowly while I rushed.

"We're the king and queen. We're never late, my love." His smirk made me want to throw something at him.

"Besides, you weren't complaining in the shower."

I blushed. "We have to go."

I adjusted my red dress one last time. The strapless gown hugged my curves before flowing to the floor. My months of training showed in my defined muscles - even critics couldn't find fault.

I felt Jace before I heard him, his warmth at my back as he wrapped his arms around my waist. His lips found my neck, sending shivers down my spine.

"You look beautiful," he murmured against my skin. "Let's go."

Four warriors waited outside our door to escort us to the packhouse. The protocol was excessive, in my opinion, but Jace insisted on maintaining tradition for important events. We walked through the moonlit grounds, following the path lit by lanterns.

The massive double doors of the great hall loomed ahead. Two warriors went first, then Jace offered me his arm. I took a deep breath and placed my hand on his forearm, feeling the muscle tense slightly beneath my fingers.

As we entered, everyone stood and applauded, with some traditional howls of respect. I felt excited despite myself.

We were taken to the high table on the platform. Gabriel, Lucas, and Eliana sat on one side, with Marcus, Seraphina, and Hunter on the other. Elder Council members filled the remaining seats, looking serious but expectant.

Jace helped me sit before taking his seat. Only then did everyone sit down.

He stood up and the room went quiet.

"Thanks for coming, especially those who traveled far. We'll have two competitions and celebrations over the next three days. Follow our pack rules while you're here. I won't tolerate anyone being mistreated. Break the rules and you're out."

"That's enough serious talk. We're here to have fun. Let's start with good food and company. Let the festival begin!"

Jace sat down, and servers immediately brought out the first course.

"Good speech," I told him.

"Thank you, my love." He squeezed my hand under the table.

The night flowed with conversation and laughter beneath currents of political tension.

After dinner, they cleared the tables for dancing. The musicians started with traditional pack songs before shifting to modern music.

Jace stood and reached for my hand. "Dance with me."

Everyone's watching us, I thought as the crowd parted. His hand found my waist, mine settled on his shoulder. Our bodies moved in perfect rhythm, as if we'd practiced this dance a thousand times.

After several songs, I noticed his expression change subtly. That distant look in his eyes - he was using the mind link, probably communicating with Hunter about the music.

New notes filled the air, and recognition hit me hard.

"Do you remember this song?" Jace asked.

How could I forget? My heart raced against my ribs. "It's from my birthday. Before midnight. Before I learned we were true mates."

"Yes." His gaze held mine, unwavering and intense. "And to me, you're still perfect."
