The Human Girl Who Tamed Alpha King Chapter 250
MADDIE
I woke up from my nap feeling slightly refreshed. My throat was dry, so I headed downstairs for water. Mom was in the kitchen, but Blake was nowhere to be seen.
"Hi, Mom," I said, grabbing a glass.
"Hello, dear. Dr. Maya's assistant is upstairs with Julie. Just checking how she's recovering from the long journey."
*Smart move, Gina,* I thought. Saying she's checking Julie's condition means nobody will suspect she's actually trying to wake her up.
"That's thoughtful of her. I'll go up and see how it's going."
"Alright. Try not to disturb her work."
"I won't, I promise."
I carefully opened Julie's door. Gina jumped up from the bed in surprise, but relaxed when she recognized me and sat back down beside Julie. Immediately, I noticed something incredible—Julie's eyes gained focus when Gina sat down. They weren't vacant anymore!
"She can sense your presence," I whispered, my heart racing.
"I think so. She looks more alive now, not as empty as before."
Gina gently stroked Julie's hair. Julie's gaze became more alert, and—oh my god—a faint but real smile appeared on her face.
"The mate bond is working," I whispered.
Julie turned toward my voice, showing awareness of her surroundings for the first time in six months. I could hardly breathe from excitement.
"Keep going, please," I begged Gina.
Gina rested her forehead against Julie's, creating a more intimate mind connection. "I feel your pain, I understand that sense of loss. My pain never disappeared until the Moon Goddess led me to you. I know your pain runs deeper than mine because you've lost more. But I swear to the Moon Goddess, I'll never leave your side. Julie, come back to me, please. I need you."
A tear fell from Gina's eye onto Julie's face.
Julie slowly raised her hand and touched Gina's cheek, wiping away her tear. I bit back a gasp, feeling the mate energy pulsing through the room.
"You're awake," Gina whispered.
"I felt you near me yesterday," Julie replied, her voice weak but clear.
I was ecstatic but tried to control my emotions, worried Atlas might sense my turmoil through our bond. This connection between us was still so new, so raw—I didn't understand its limits yet. Could he feel everything I felt? The thought was both thrilling and terrifying.
"I was here," Gina continued softly. "When I felt the mate bond, I nearly lost it, heartbroken over your condition. I feared your wolf would never accept me because of my past."
"I already knew about your past," Julie smiled. "My wolf kept me in a coma to protect my mind. But when she sensed you and your wolf, they communicated. Your wolf showed her the truth about you and my sister's mate's history, but the memories showed my sister holds no grudge. You're a good person. Before I fully woke, my wolf had already accepted you, Gina."
Julie formally accepted Gina: "I, Julie Lune, daughter of Alpha Louis Lune, accept you, Gina Connor, as the second-chance mate the Moon Goddess has given me."
"Are you sure you want to accept so quickly?" Gina asked, hope trembling in her voice.
"Yes, I trust the Moon Goddess's plan."
Gina solemnly responded: "I never doubted the Moon Goddess's choice. I, Gina Connor, accept you, Julie Lune, as my true mate, until the moon rises no more."
With my special perception, I actually saw a golden bond form between them, growing stronger before disappearing into their bodies, marking the establishment of their mate connection. It was beautiful—like sunlight streaming through stained glass, only visible for a moment before becoming part of them forever.
The door opened. Mom gasped and let out a joyful sob.
"Julie?" she whispered shakily.
"It's me, Mom."
Mom released another small sob, both surprised and overjoyed.
I quietly left the room, giving them family privacy. My heart was so full it felt ready to burst. After everything we'd been through—the attack on our pack, the loss of our home, Julie's trauma—this moment of joy felt like a precious gift. For months, I'd watched my sister stare blankly at walls, trapped in her own mind. Now she was back, thanks to a mate bond no one could have predicted.
The Moon Goddess truly works in mysterious ways, I thought. She brought us to America, to Atlas's pack, where Julie's second-chance mate waited. Without our tragedy, this healing might never have happened.
I walked outside to the yard and sat down, needing fresh air to process everything. The sun felt warm on my face, reminding me that life continues even after the darkest times. My sister had finally recovered from her trauma after six months. My hopes for the future were brighter than they'd been in days.
The bond between Julie and Gina made me think of my own connection with Atlas. Still new, still developing, but already so powerful. This morning by the waterfall played through my mind, making my cheeks flush. His gentleness, his control, the way he put my needs before his own—everything about him made my heart race.
I remembered his promise to return after I rested. Would he sense that I was awake now? The way our minds connected still amazed me. Just thinking about him made me feel warm all over.
I looked up and my breath caught. Atlas was walking toward me, dressed in clean clothes, his eyes sparkling with desire. The sight of him made my heart skip. He moved with purpose, his eyes never leaving mine as he approached.
In that moment, seeing Atlas walking toward me, everything became clear. All my doubts, all my fears about what we might become together, faded away. I knew exactly what I wanted.
I wanted him. I wanted us.
