AURORA

Downstairs, we found Mom arranging the table with one hand while holding Anthony in the other. I took him from her to make it easier, and she thanked me with a smile. Dad disappeared briefly, returning with a portable crib where I placed Anthony.

Sitting at the table, I looked at my parents. "Dad, Mom. I know Vanessa did a lot of bad things. But I want to bury her and mark her grave. I feel like in the end, she gave her life to save me."

They both smiled, and Mom said, "We've prepared a place for her burial. You can mark it however you wish."

Dad added, "Yes, princess. Like you said, she did bad things. But she willingly gave her life to protect you."

Tears welled in my eyes. "Thank you, Dad, thank you, Mom. I love you."

"We love you too," they replied.

LAWRENCE

I was in the middle of showing Atlas a complicated takedown move when one of Jace's messengers interrupted our training session.

"The King requests your presence in his office," he said, giving us a quick bow. "Both of you."

Atlas and I exchanged glances. We'd been training for hours, and I was actually impressed with how quickly he was picking things up. The kid was a natural.

"Guess we're done for now," I said, grabbing a towel to wipe the sweat from my face. "Let's see what your father wants."

We made our way to Jace's office, still dressed in our training clothes. When we arrived, Jace was on the phone, the call on speaker. He waved us in without pausing his conversation.

"They just walked in," Jace said to whoever was on the other end. "I'll discuss it with them, but I'm confident they'll agree to the plan."

"Sounds good, my King," a man's voice replied. "We await your response."

"You can count on it," Jace said, then ended the call.

I sat down, my muscles still warm from training. Even after all this time, being summoned to the King's office made me tense.

"Who was that?" Atlas asked, dropping into the chair beside me.

"Alpha Leonard Sinclair," Jace replied. "One of the last two Alphas in Italy."

My attention sharpened immediately. Italy. The mention of my homeland always put me on edge, especially after the mess with Charles Huntington.

"Is everything alright?" I asked.

Jace nodded. "Leonard and Alexander Vanderbilt have been cleaning up Charles's territory. They've come up with a proposal." He turned to Atlas. "Since you've turned eighteen, the power dynamic has shifted. They feel they need your approval, and they thought Lawrence should weigh in as well."

"What's the proposal?" Atlas asked.

"They want to divide Charles's territory equally between them. Two territories of equal size. They want the wolves there to freely choose which Alpha to live under, but allow free passage between territories."

I felt a lump form in my throat. My father had fought and died for "a more open Italy." That's why they wanted my opinion – I was the legitimate heir to parts of Italy.

"I think it's a good idea," I said. "Leonard and Alexander are good Alphas. If they work together like this, Italy will be peaceful. For years, crossing through Charles's territory was a huge risk. So this... this is good. Really good."

Jace nodded. "That's what they said as well."

Atlas frowned slightly. "I don't know much about these Alphas, but they helped Aurora. And anything is better than what Charles did. As long as we're sure it will work, we can always visit and see for ourselves."

"That sounds reasonable to me," Jace said, a note of pride in his voice. "Well done, son."

Jace picked up his phone and dialed. When Leonard answered, he put it on speaker again.

"Leonard? It's Jace. I've spoken with them... Yes, they both think it's a good plan."

Leonard's voice came through, sounding pleased. "I'm glad to hear it. We've all felt a power greater than ourselves awakening. Both Alpha Alexander and I are prepared to acknowledge it. We're at your service if needed, we just want peace. We haven't had peace for many years."

"We believe this plan will bring you peace, so we'll provide whatever support necessary to make it happen," Jace replied.

"Thank you, my King," Leonard said.

Atlas shifted in his seat, then spoke up. "If you need help, let us know."

"We will, Your Highness," Leonard and Alexander replied without hesitation.

"Montgomery mentioned he's an uncle now, so congratulations," Alexander added.

"Thank you very much," I replied.

After exchanging goodbyes, Jace ended the call.

"I'm proud of you, son," Jace said to Atlas. "You showed real leadership there."

"Thanks, Dad."

I turned to Atlas. "You did well. It will be an honor to truly serve you when the time comes."

Atlas shook his head firmly. "You don't serve me, Lawrence. You stand beside me. When we take over, I always want you to tell me what you think. I may not agree with everything, but I'll listen."

"You'll both do fine when the time comes," Jace said. "I have no doubt about that."

"Thank you," Atlas and I said almost in unison.

I stood up, suddenly eager to get home. "I should get back to my mate and son. I've already started training Aurora again when time allows."

When I arrived home, I immediately caught Aurora's scent. Rocky, my wolf, stirred contentedly within me. I followed her scent to the kitchen where she was making lunch—lasagna, filling the house with the rich aroma of tomatoes and herbs. Anthony sat in his high chair, making happy baby noises.

"Hey, baby," I said, wrapping my arms around Aurora's waist and kissing her neck.

She leaned back into me. "Hey, handsome. How was training?"

I breathed in her scent, still amazed sometimes that this incredible woman was mine. "It went well, but we also had a call with Italy. I'll tell you over lunch."

Anthony squealed when he saw me, waving his tiny fists in the air. I went over and picked him up, feeling that surge of protectiveness that hit me every time I held him.

"And how's my little man doing today?" I asked, nuzzling his cheek. He grabbed my finger with surprising strength, and I felt that weird mix of pride and terror that had become familiar since becoming a father.

We sat down to eat, Anthony back in his high chair, and I told Aurora about the conversation with the Italian Alphas. She smiled and said it sounded wonderful.

After lunch, we put Anthony down for his nap, and I led Aurora to the empty room where we'd been training. She was getting better every day, her movements more confident, her attacks more precise.

I watched her prepare for our session, thinking how my life had completely changed since meeting her. From a lone wolf to a mate, a father, and now part of the Pack leadership. I couldn't imagine going back to my old life.

She caught me staring and raised an eyebrow. "Ready to get your ass kicked?"

I grinned and took my position. Time to train.
