The BBQ/ summer party is in full swing and I have to admit I'm having the best time. We never had anything like this back at my old pack. Don't get me wrong we had balls for certain occasions but that was it and when we had them we had to act the part in other words, Alpha Roland wanted us to act perfect and stuck up and I hated it.

This party however was out of this world different. Everyone was allowed to be who they are and not what Calvin thought they should be although I doubted Calvin wanted them to be any more than they were being now, themselves.

It's Saturday which means almost everyone from the pack is here including the children which I love. Of course, the guards still have to do their duty but Calvin has arranged it so they swap out every 4 hours so everyone gets a chance to be here.

Calvin's mom Lucy and Liam's mom Mary planned most of this party along with a huge amount of help from Nora Jack's second mom as I like to call her because if we're being honest she's raised him since he was 8 years old so she pretty much is a second mom to him and he'd say the same thing.

The sun is beaming and it's making my fucking day. I'm sitting in one of the chairs that surrounds the pool along with Jack, Calvin, and a few of the warriors. I'll give it to the ladies they haven't spared anything for this party. There's a massive blow-up slide that's been set up across the other side of the pool and both the kids and adults are loving it.

A DJ is playing and a dance floor has been set up. There is an insane amount of chairs and tables set out across the main area of the parklands and there's more stored in the training hall if we need them.

There are long picnic-style tables set out with rows of party-style food so everyone can help their selves and coolers littered all around the place with a variety of drinks in them, of course, there are even three mini bars around for those that would like an adult drink.

I hear high-pitched giggling and open my eyes to see one of the warriors chasing a couple of the kids toward the pool and I laugh out loud at their cuteness.

I look around and just seeing how much fun everyone is having and the kids laughing as they run away from their parents as they attempt to sun lotion them up has me feeling relaxed, happy, and content. 5 weeks ago I never thought I'd get to feel anything like this again, how quickly things can change!

"You have got to help me, guys!" Liam quickly approaches us and ducks down by the side of my chair looking a little scared.

"What's wrong Liam?" Calvin asks him with a concerned tone that I know we are all feeling.

"Britney." Huh, who's Britney?

"Haha is she back?" Jack asks chuckling to himself.

"Don't laugh asshole!" He grunts out with a slight smirk on his face.

"Wait who's Britney? What's going on?" I want to know!

"She's a Warrior from the crystal moon pack and a massive pain in my ass!" Liam quickly grunts.

"Hmm, why?"

"Because he slept with her last year and now whenever she sees him she's all over him like flies on shit!" Jack chirps.

"Oh, Liam you naughty boy you!" I try to keep a straight face when I speak to him but it's hard.

"Oh, Ash don't. If I had any idea she would be like this I really wouldn't have gone there. I told her at the time it was a one-time thing

but fuck she doesn't leave me alone!" He groans while rubbing his hand over his face and I burst out laughing.

"Incoming." Cal quickly says.

"Oh fuck!" Liam jumps up and heads across to the opposite side of the grounds and just seconds later Britney comes to a stop in front of us.

"Hey, guys!" She grabs water out of the cooler by our feet and takes a seat in front of me in a spare chair.

"Having fun Britney?" Cal asks with a smirk on his face. I've got a feeling that there's more to this than I realize.

"Oh so much. I wonder where he's got to now?" Both she and Cal burst out laughing while Jack laughs to himself.

"Ok, what am I missing?" I ask Jack.

"Sorry darling, Jack this is Britney Smith. Britney this is my mate, Ashley."

"Oh it's great to finally meet you, I've heard a lot about you Ashley." She has a beaming smile on her face and I instantly feel myself warm up to her.

"Anyway baby this is Britney as I told you before she got here she is a Warrior at the crystal moon pack and one hell of a girl, your gonna love her!"

"I take it he doesn't know?" she asks Jack.

"Don't know what?" I ask looking between Jack and Britney.

"Liam and I slept together last year. It was just a one-time thing. Just some fun. Well anyway, the next morning I got talking to these guys and we decided to have some fun." Britney answers me while grinning.

"What kind of fun?" I'm all for fun but I love the bones of Liam and won't have anyone mess with him not in a bad way anyway.

"Oh just anytime I see Liam I pretend to be hopelessly in love with him and want to sleep with him again and marry him. It's all for fun. We both agreed that it was a one-time thing and I'm cool with that although the guy is fit so I wouldn't say no to seconds at all" Without realizing it I burst out laughing and everyone else is quickly joining me.

"How long have you been doing this?" I ask once I can get myself to stop laughing.

"It's been what... 8 months now hasn't it Cal?" He nods agreeing with her while smirking. "But this is only the 4th time that I've seen him since then so it's not so bad although I plan on telling him today."

"You cruel bastards!" I chuckle.

"Ohh so that's how we're playing this is it?" We all spin around to find Liam standing behind us and we all burst out with laughter when we realize that he's been listening to us.

"How much did you hear?" Cal asks fighting not to laugh.

"Oh enough you bunch of fuckers!" He grunts. He's trying to act mad but it's not hard to see the twinkle in his eyes.

"Your dead!" He points at Britney as he starts storming toward her and Cal, Jack and I burst out laughing. We know he won't hurt her so this should be fun. He walks over to her and picks her up out of her chair causing her to squeal and he throws her into the pool... fully dressed.

That was the wrong time to take a sip of my beer as it shouts straight back out while we're all bawling over with laughter.

"So you bunch of fuckers decided to play games with me did you?" Again he's stern pissed-off look is lessened by the slight smirk that he can't keep in.

"Hey, baby boy I've just found out about this too. I'm on your side in this." I hold my hands up in surrender.

"Oh, I know sweet cheeks I heard don't worry." He sends me a wink that I return with an air kiss causing Jack to playfully grunt.

"Traitor!" He grunts at me while shooting me a wink.

"I still love you don't worry." Before he can say anything back to me a loud growl rips through the air and I quickly realize that it came from Cal.

"WOLVES HAVE BREACHED THE BORDERS!" Cal bellows out. The music instantly stops and everyone jumps to their feet.

"Jessie and Archer I want you to take all the women, children, and elderly in the safe room right now and you stay with them and anyone else unable to fight is to join them." Two of the warriors that were sitting with us get up and start to run off and start calling out for the women, children, and elderly/vulnerable to follow them.

"Everyone who can and is willing to fight, we don't know how many of them there are or how many more will come but we knew that this was going to happen so let's get our shit together and take down these mother fuckers. LET'S GO!" He booms out the words in his Alpha tone and everyone willing or able to fight starts to head our way.

"Baby, do you want to head inside?" Jack whispers to me as he holds my hand. For a split second, I get mad at the thought that he thinks that I'm not up to this but Alfie quickly squashes those thoughts reminding me that it's just because he doesn't want me to get hurt.

"No baby I'm here and ready to fight!" I don't bother asking him if he wants to head inside because I already know the answer.

"Dad, where are you and Kelly?" I link him praying he'll be able to hear it over the noise.

"We're inside the safe room son, I wish you were in here and I was out there fighting!" His frustration is clear to hear but this is for the best.

"I know dad but I'll be ok I promise and you know this is the best thing to do for Kelly."

"I know son. Be careful. We love you."

"I love you both two." I quickly close the link before he can say anymore and before I start crying like a baby.

We didn't take my dad to save Kelly because we don't want my mother to know he's alive right now as it may come in handy and so when we got back from saving her we discussed where to go next and it was decided that when the fight happened that he would be in the safe room with my sister.

That way if anything happened to us she would still have my dad and also it stopped any of them from finding out that he's alive just in case it could still be of use to us.

Of course, my dad hated the idea. The father in him alone wanted to be out and protecting his family and add in his Beta blood and I can only imagine that sitting this out feels impossible to him.

But after a lot of back and forth and a slight tint of Alpha tone from Calvin, we finally convinced him and so that's where he is right now and we are heading for the forest ready to end this fucking sick game of my mother's and finally be free of her.

Just before we head into the forest Jack stops me and gives me a curl-toeing kiss. "I love you, darling."
