The pounding in my heart and shivers running through my spine tells me that an Alpha has died but I want to cry with relief when I don't feel the pain that I would if it had been my Alpha. Cal's fine thank fuck! but who died? hell, I hope it's not Alpha Colton, I was starting to like that guy.

The fighting has come to a halt as it always does when an Alpha dies but I still can't figure out who it is. I look around me but the few wolves that I can see aint reacting so I can only assume that they aren't from the pack of the dead Alpha.

"Jack, Liam, Ashley. You guys ok?" Cal's voice chimes through my head and fuck is it nice to hear his voice!

"Yes Alpha and I'm glad to hear that you are too," Liam says.

"All good Alpha and thank goddess you are too." My mate's voice is next through the link and I feel my heart pound with relief that he's ok.

"I'm good Alpha glad you lot are ok too," I add in.

"Thank fuck you're all ok!" He says back to us relief strong in his voice. "Make your way to where we met Alpha Colton boys." We all let him know we're on our way and I'm quick to head to them. I want to see that my Alpha is ok with my own eyes and well, I just want to see my mate.

As I walk through the hoards of wolves I can't help but feel sad at the number of dead bodies that are littering the floor. I will fight every single wolf in this world to protect those close to me but it doesn't mean that I like it. In fact, I hate it.

All these wolves meant something to someone. They were someone's son/daughter. Someone's sister/brother. Someone's friend/best friend and I bet a lot of them were parents and it's fucking sad that those people won't get to see them again or talk to them again. I hate this side of our lives and I hate that it has to come to this.

My thoughts soon turn to Ashley and how desperately I need to see him. I know I heard his voice-over link but that doesn't mean that he's not hurt and somehow managed to make himself sound fine.

I start picking up the pace and moving faster through the sea of dead and alive wolves. I need to see him now or I'm going to explored. I turn a corner in the forest and the clearing is straight in front of me. I concentrate and squint my eyes and I quickly spot Cal and Ashley and I can see Liam almost reaching them.

I let go of a long hard breath that I didn't even realize I was holding as I take the sight of him in. I quickly scan his body from head to toe and back up and thankfully I can't see any injuries so hopefully, that means he's ok.

Ashley must sense that I'm close or even smell me as he quickly turns around so that he's facing me and the moment he spots me he's got a beaming smile on his face and I know I'm doing the same.

"Jack!" He runs towards me and wraps his arms around my neck while I wrap my arms around him and pull him in tight to me. After the fight started I quickly lost sight of him and a part of me was constantly thinking about him while I was fighting and I'll admit that I was terrified that he wouldn't make it.

Not that I should have doubted him, I've seen him in training, and he's a fucking beast when he needs to be. A lot of people would doubt him because of his size but holy hell it doesn't slow him down. The size of his wolf is crazy big too, a lot bigger than you would think given his size and all.

But still, he's my mate and even if he was the best fighter in the entire pack I would still worry during any fight that something goes wrong and he doesn't make it out. Just the thought of losing Ashley is enough to make me feel insane. I may not have had him for long but I already know that I could never live without him. If he ever died it would be the end of me.

"You ok darling?" I pull back a little so that I can see his face. I see relief in his eyes and know that he was just as worried about me too. He has a slight cut on his bottom lip but that's all I can see and he didn't show any signs of hurting when I hugged him so I think he's ok.

"I'm fine baby. Are you ok?" I place a gentle kiss on his lips. "I'm good darling. Let's go see Cal and Liam." I take his hand and follow him back to the guys only to get a shock when I reach them.

I was concentrating on Ashley so much that I hadn't realized that there are two dead bodies at Cal's feet while Alpha Colton sits on the ground not far away from them with a battered-looking Britney in his arms.

"Who are they?" I ask as soon as I reach Cal and Liam. The moment I ask the question I recognize the Alpha from the pack of Rogues that started this stupid fucking fight but I don't recognize the other prick.

"This is the Alpha of the Rogues that attacked us." Liam kicks his dead body causing it to jerk violently. He looks like he went down fighting but got battered.

"And this prick was with him and he decided to attack Britney and tried to kill her." Cal kicks him sending him flying into the other prick, their body making a loud thud as they collide. The one that attacked Britney looks just as battered as his Alpha.

A low growl has me looking at Alpha Colton. "You do this?" I nod my head toward the guy on the floor before looking back at him.

"Yep, and if you ask me he died too quickly!" He growls out the words as he tightens his hold on Britney. He's already hooked on that girl it's clear for everyone to see.

"Nice!" I would have done the same thing. "Who ended this bastard? Looking at the mess on him I'm gonna go with Cal?" I look at him but he just shakes his head no while smirking my way.

"Nope wasn't me, brother."

"Ok... then who was it?"
