Alpha Calvin

I'm sitting in my office trying to get caught up with the pack finances but it's not going well, there's so much going on that it's hard to concentrate on anything right now. "Cal, where are you?" A link from Liam pulls my focus away from my laptop and if I'm being honest I'm grateful for the distraction. "I'm in my office, everything ok brother?"

"Yeah, I'm just about to pass your office. Lunch?" I look at the clock on my desk and I'm shocked to see how long I've been in here and yet I've hardly got anything done.

"Yeah sure, I'll be there now." I make quick work of shutting down my laptop and head for the door to find Liam already outside and waiting for me. "How's the Rogue situation, is he in the cells yet?"

"Yeah, Tyson is guarding him until Jack says any different."

"Huh, why?" Liam linked me earlier to say a Rogue had been found on our lands and that he was being brought to the cells and I had planned on heading down there, later on, to find out what he wants. "From the look on your face, I'm going to guess that you haven't spoken to Jack about the Rogue yet?"

"No, why what's going on?"

"Well after what happened this morning with Luke, Ashley ran off into the forest and-." I don't have any idea what Liam's talking about so I stop him before I get even more confused. "Wait what happened with Luke?" Liam now shares my confused look and I feel like I'm missing out on something here.

"Have you not spoken to Jack at all since we left your floor this morning?"

"No, I had my class to train, and I've been in my office since trying to work on the pack finances. Liam what am I missing here!"

He whistles out low and I know he's got a lot to tell me and I'm just praying that it's not more bad news. 15 minutes later we are sitting in the kitchen while Liam eats his lunch and I stare at him with my mouth hanging open like I'm just sitting here trying to catch flies. "What a fucking morning, those poor guys! Fuck they've not had it easy at all since they met have they?"

"Nope!" Liam shakes his head with pity in his eyes.

"Have you heard anything of Jack since you left him with Ash?"

"No, but I'm hoping that it's a good sign!"

"I manage to get control over my mouth enough that I can finish my lunch with Liam before we start heading back towards my office.

"Alpha it's warrior Zack are you there?"

"Yes, I'm here Zack is everything ok?"

"Kat has spoken to her grandmother and she is willing to speak with you regarding Jane!"

"That's great Zack, when is she free?"

"Whenever you are Alpha."

"Great can you come to my office now? Beta Liam and I are almost there."

"We'll meet you there Alpha." He closes the link while I fill Liam in on what he told me and we speed up our efforts to reach my office as quickly as possible!

Beta Liam

It's 1.05 pm and yet it feels more like 9.00 pm and I'm ready for bed, what a day so far! Thankfully Kat's grandmother has agreed to speak with us regarding Jane's behavior and I just pray that she has some answers for us. Within a few minutes of Cal and I arriving at his office, there is a knock on the door right before Zack and Kat appear looking a little shaken but still sharing a smile with us.

"Good afternoon Zack, and Kat. Come and have a seat." Cal's gone straight into Alpha mode and I can also feel my Beta side strongly lingering. "Afternoon Alpha, Beta." They both nod and smile again before they take a seat in the two chairs across the desk from Cal while I'm sitting next to him. "Where's Jane?" I expected them to bring her along with them as this involves her. "My grandmother asked that she not be present for this phone call I'm not sure why but I've got a sitter with her anyway as I trust in my grandmother's word.”

"Of course, that's no problem. Would you like me to make the call to your grandmother?" Kat nods a grateful nod before handing over the number and putting her focus on the landline that's set on Cal's desk as he wastes no time in dialing the number while I feel myself taking in a deep breathe as I hear the ring tone blare out in the room from where Cal has put the call on speakerphone. "Kat, what is your grandmother's name?" I quickly ask while Cal sends me a grateful nod.

"Rosemary."

"Hello." Suddenly the call gets answered and the sweetest voice comes through the phone and it instantly makes me think of a sweet old lady.

"Hello Rosemary, this is Alpha Calvin of the claw moon pack. I believe you have been expecting my call?"

"I have Alpha, Calvin."

"Please just call me Calvin. I have your granddaughter Kat here with me and her mate Zack plus my Beta Liam is also present. Are you happy to talk to me with them present?"

"Of course Calvin, that is perfectly fine."

"Great! So Rosemary what can you tell me in regards to Jane and the behavior it appears she is showing?"

"Calvin my granddaughter has explained what's been happening and in all honestly I wish she had told me sooner." As soon as she finishes talking I feel myself tense up and so does Calvin. The looks of worry on both Kat and Zack's faces don't go amiss either "Why's that Rosemary?" She lets out a long sigh before remaining quiet for a few seconds. "Calvin both of my parents were witches but my mother left when I was 4 years old and I was raised by my dad and grandmother who was also a witch. When I was around 8 years old I started feeling the effects of magic and started to do spells without even realing it."

"Just like Jane."

"Yes, Calvin and I also started to bring dead plants and animals back to life until my dad caught me one day and put a stop to it. He didn't even know that my magic has come as I hadn't told him but from that day forward he worked with me every day to control my magic. You see Alpha once I got old enough he sat me down and told me the real reason as to why my mother left and why he stopped me from doing the kind of magic that I had been."
